Hotel Stein - Adults Only

The rooftop restaurant has a stunning view! The location is prime. It's within easy walking distance of everything we hoped to see and do! The water pressure in the shower was excellent and the bath products were lovely and natural. We enjoyed the artistry of this hotel. Beautiful lighting and glass sculpture. They provided very large and effective umbrellas for guests when it was raining, which was a nice touch! Reservations were quickly made for meals and concerts when we inquired or asked for recommendations from the staff.

The temperature of the room was warm, and the A/C could not keep it very cool. The breakfast was quite pricey considering that much of what we would expect to be included was a la carte. So we just ventured out for breakfast.

Everything from the location to the summer terrace Amelie (front desk office) is so helpful and provides an excellent service

Fabulous welcome - we were given fizz on arrival, hot towels for our hands and a doorman take our case. This was most unexpected and very much appreciated - the best welcome we have ever had from a hotel. On top of this we were given a free upgrade to our room. We couldn't fault the room. It was the best room we have ever stayed in - a junior suite with the view of the river. A great power shower, huge shower cubicle and large bed. We also had free bottled water each day given to us by the hotel and a coffee machine. A fabulous stay!

On the final night (Friday) we ate in the rooftop restaurant but due to our starters not arriving and waiting a long time we decided to cancel them and just have a main course.

Hotel Stein is a very nice hotel. Great lobby space to walk in and out to every time, friendly and helpful staff, we enjoyed a very spacious and nicely designed room for three nights. The location was perfect along the river and the kind of busy street in front of the hotel is not noticeable when inside and easy to cross when leaving the hotel for exploring Salzburg or getting a cup of coffee around the corner. Just outside the busy, more touristic city center.

We really had a great time here. No complaints or things that could have been better. Maybe a great coffee machine in the room, if I have to think of something. It is nice to wake up and make a good tasting coffee before heading out for an even better cup of coffee made by a local barista.

AC not working…there is no amenities in bathroom like soap and cotton pods..etc

The property was beautifully kept, our bedroom was lovely with the best shower I think I’ve ever used and the rooftop bar serves fantastic cocktails. the team were incredibly friendly and looked after us really well throughout our stay

There were only two things I didn’t like. firstly the heating was set too high and couldn’t be turned down, we opened our window but it was above a bar which was open until around 3am and secondly I don’t think the breakfast was worth €30, we actually cancelled the second days as it just didn’t seem worth the money although the service was great and what was on offer at the buffet was nice quality I would just have liked a little more hot offers and choice

Nice boutique hotel, lovely decor. Great location, comfortable bed and I found one nice hard pillow in the cupboard. The rooftop cafe and bar was lovely but unfortunately closed for staff holidays when we got there, except for breakfast. Breakfast was nice. Wifi was great, room soundproofing was excellent.

Room was very hot, despite not having heater on at all. and window couldn’t be opened much - the downside of the great soundproofing/insulation. The room did have an air conditioner, however. Shower seal wasn’t great and water got all over floor. No kettle/tea etc in room, although reception provided one for us when asked.

A lovely hotel, very comfortable, and a great location! Breakfast was delicious and the views from the restaurant/bar were the best!

Breakfast was slightly confusing - a slightly different process each day; seemed to depend on the staff? There was no information on the massage/spa area, so I had to ask - the masseuse was offsite and the desk staff called but they were understandably unavailable for last-minute appointments. It would have been nice to have been able to book this in advance and ensure availability.

Perfect central location for all the venues of the Salzburger Festspiele coupled with great service at the front desk. Our only downside was the much-lauded Steinterrasse, which really needs to embrace the concept of global warming. It was stifling hot, there were only 2 small fans and none of the umbrellas were able to angle to block the sun! In 30C+ at 5pm, we had to sit with our backs to the beautiful view to survive in a small slice of shade but many people just chose to leave…

Location was perfect for exploring the city, both sides of the river. Reception staff were all very helpful & assisted with restaurant booking. Breakfast was good, with good service - dairy free needs were well catered for. The view from the room was very good, overlooking the bridge and river, with the fort and town in view. I was able to open the windows fully, unusual for hotels these days, which was great. One pic is taken from the window, the other from the top of the fort. Recommended: the Fort - great views of Salzburg; Mozart's house & museum; St Peter Stiftskeller (Europe's oldest restaurant - book a table!); the Christmas & Easter shop - incredible range of stock; the original Sound of Music Tour - great fun & you get to see Mondsee too.

We wanted to have a drink one night on the roof terrace but it was busy, and the 'welcoming' waiter was very unwelcoming and unhelpful. He refused to allow us to sit at any of the free tables (there was a small rope preventing access) - it would not have taken much to accommodate us, but all he would offer us, rudely, was a table that was inside and well back. We left disappointed. I found the pillows to be very uncomfortable and they made it hard to sleep - I tried three but none of them was any good. My partner found hers to be alright, so I guess that was just me! (Sorry, the room pic was taken at departure!) The coffee machine had no instructions and as there was no logic to it, we were unable to use it.
