Holiday Inn Express Melbourne Little Collins, an IHG Hotel

The breakfast was a nice addition to our stay, nice selection of fruit, cereals, pastries, bacon & eggs. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the Skybus/Southern Cross Station and within easy walking distance to many great restaurants, bars, cafes, etc. The room was very clean and nicely presented and appears relatively new/refurbished. Staff were friendly and helpful. The block out blinds are excellent if you are a shift worker or you had a late one and need a good sleep in.

There is a Damages bond that you must pay, and the hotel holds onto this bond for 7 to 10 business days. This is not ideal with such a large time to return your money seeing the room would be cleaned and assessed on the day you leave, really unsure how this arrangement works. Although it did not bother my partner and I, the shower/bathroom is surrounded by frosted glass. If someone is showering, then you can make out their silhouette. This was something that didn't bother us, but other may want to consider.

Free daily breakfast, powerful shower water pressure, reasonable price and good location, daily housekeeping. Staff quite friendly and helpful. Security is excellent at night. Can get free amenity kits like toothbrushes, additional hangars at the Reception on level 2. Water dispenser in gym at level 1. Staff prompt in responding to issues like light bulb broken etc. Nice view from level 9 onwards.

Beds too soft. Carpet not vacuumed during daily housekeeping. Towels and facial tissue not consistently replaced. Toilet bowl not always cleaned.

The breakfast was a nice little touch to the stay. It was relatively basic - your usual options: bacon, scrambled eggs, has browns and toast. A few little pastries and a small area for cereal and museli. The room was small but perfect size for 1-2 people. The bathroom was very small and compact, but very usable. It was a great location! Just down the road from Southern Cross Station and a tram that gets you staright to Bourke street mall or towards The Crown Casino/near South bank DFO. Also a number of Tram stops within walking distance to get you to venues such as the MCG and Richmond.

My stay at Holiday Inn Express was exceptional. I was granted a late check-in due to my flights and having a 24/7 reception available made this easy. The most memorable part of my experience was the staff; they were remarkable and catered to my needs and more. I was greeted in a friendly manner each time and they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had anything I needed, no matter the time of day. The ambience and "vibe" in the hotel is welcoming and friendly. This is soothing to me as I travelled alone and it was also my first time in Melbourne. The hotel's location is very convenient, located very close to the nearest train station and tram and also very close by to Spencer's Outlet and restaurants (around 2-3 minute walk). The room I stayed in was very clean, however there was no toilet paper supplied but was immediately catered to as soon as I asked for it. The bed is comfy and the guest is provided with two firm pillows and two softer ones, I found this to be very accomodating as I personally prefer firm pillows. The furniture in the building is well maintained and are in good shape and the elevator is fast and spacious. The breakfast at this stay was pleasant consisted with an array of different kinds more common breakfast foods. Overall, my stay at Holiday inn Express Little Collins was delightful and unforgettable, I would someday like to stay again.

The deal with parking was great as was easily the cheapest hotel parking in the area we found, and breakfast included - great value for our budget. So close to Marvel Stadium without being in Docklands which was the reason for our stay, but also just a quick walk to Southbank or the Spencer St Outlet if you don't want to deal with the CBD (like us)! Staff were lovely too.

Bathroom could have been cleaner, would have been nice to have a spare blanket in the room, 24hr room service options weren't great, told all the way up to check-in was that we still had to pay extra for parking when it was included in our deal so was confusing, & very quick to take a $50 holding fee on our card but told 7-10 business days for refund....

Unbeatable location for the price - trams leaving nearby, in every direction. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are modern and clean. A novelty was the glass bathroom where the shower door also serves as the bathroom door. Not 100% functional, but definitely an interesting design feature.

Breakfast is a bit too simple for my liking, with bacon and hash browns available every other day but never together. Under the telephone there was a small plastic zip bag and a cigarette filter from previous occupants, that's why I had to deduct from the cleanliness score

Loved location, modern room, friendly staff, great breakfast, overall very happy with my stay. Not many accessible rooms available in CBD so great that they are available at this hotel.

Suggested improvements: Accessible room door couldn't be opened from a wheelchair, nor passed through without someone holding it opened. Staff very helpful, promptly came when called to let me in/out of room. Room would benefit from a power point installed where wheelchair is parked so it can be charge overnight (at waist height not floor level please). Accessible bathroom great size and lay out, floor tiles were however slippery when wet and would benefit from a non slip treatment. A good room, attention to a few things would make it great.

Location was perfect being so close to Southern Cross station and the CBD. Breakfast was exceptional. Spotlessly clean and well appointed rooms. Great lounge area with a bar if you need to fill in time before going to the airport. Highly recommend.

The toilet situation with only a glass door that doubles as bathroom door and shower door was a bit awkward as the privacy felt a bit lacking. Not a big deal if you are travelling with a partner, but if you are travelling with a friend or family member who prefers privacy, it might be awkward.

The location was great. Room was clean and had a nice view. Room had a comfortable office chair and small table large enough to accommodate a laptop. TV had a custom software which was quite nice and had Chromecast installed, although I couldn't set it up for my stay unfortunately.

The breakfast was a bit low quality and it got repetitive quickly. Same meals everyday or every other day. The elevators got quite busy during breakfast hours, sometimes needing to wait around 5 minutes. It didn't help that there were 2 separate sets of elevators that were not connected, so most people called both of them, took one of the elevators, but then the other one would just stop there. Would be much better if they were internally connected and had a single button to call.

The security made us feel very safe. We had a friend staying on a different level, and despite both having swipe cards, we were unable to access one another's floors, so no one from outside has any chance of getting in. Great security measure for female travellers. Reception and breakfast staff were lovely and couldn't fault them in any way, shape, or form. Very happy with every interaction that was had with them.

The room was clean on the surface, but as I'm finding with most hotels, the squeaky/deep clean hasn't happened in a while. If I can see the pink mould around the sink plug, then the cleaners should be able to as well. Despite having our please clean our room sign on our door one of the days our room wasn't cleaned and we needed to grab towels from reception. Refer to photos for small details that could have been cleaned to make it look and feel that much more like a holiday.
