Best Western Melbourne City

The location of the property is ideal. So very easy to get to from public transport and airport transport. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The venue feels very safe from the perspective of young female travelers. Even when returning later in the evening.

The bathroom doors on the double and triple rooms were a bit disconcerting. The opaque glass lets silhouettes show through which is strange. Also, the sliding door in the double room didn't shut properly and it felt a little bit exposed in the bathroom despite there being a door. This wasn't something that was an issue in the single room I had on my first stay.

I choose Best Western because of it's location to Marvel Stadium (comfortable walking distance) and Southern Cross Station. P!nk was awesome BTW. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The reception area was small but had couches and was clean and tidy. The entrance was well signposted as were the signs to the rooms. The room was exactly like it's photos on the website and was clean and tidy. The bathroom was small but compact and clean. They have luggage storage which is great if you want to walk around the city to have lunch and shop after you have check out.

There was only one lift working. The bed was a little bit hard for me (I like soft and squishy). I could hear the water running through the pipes when other residents were using the showers - thank goodness I didn't hear the flush of toilets :-). I wish there was a bin in the bedroom as we quickly filled the one in the bathroom.

It was a fabulous place to stay for me, being a solo female traveller. I felt safe, and happy in my little matchbox room. So close to the main station and trams. The bed was comfy and the room was adequate for a single person for a few nights. Staff were courteous, prompt with requests, and friendly.

A good deep clean would do wonders, a good scrub in the shower, carpet steam, window and curtains. There was one other thing, if you have long pants or dresses, the wardrobe does not facilitate for longer items. But overall, everything was adequate for my stay.

I was in Melbourne for a week long conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, which is a 5 minute walk from this hotel. Best Western Melbourne City was an excellent accommodation choice. The room was clean and had all advertised amenities. Staff were friendly and helpful during my stay. I felt the price was appropriate and made for a good trip. The surrounding area is safe, clean, and just a few minutes walk from both the tram stop and also Southern Cross station, with direct connections to regional Victoria by train and the airport by SkyBus. I would stay here again.

There was a lingering smell of smoke in the hallways (but not in my room) throughout most of my stay. When I bought this to the attention of staff, suggesting that a guest may be smoking in their room, I didn't feel they took this very seriously. It was a disappointment on an otherwise flawless stay.

The hotel is in an excellent location at the beginning of the Central Business District with all the delicious Asian restaurants, China Town, and skyscrapers. Next to the hotel is the Southern Cross Station, from where you can reach many sightseeing areas, e.g., Werribee Park. Within the Central Business District, you can take the Tram for free. Two tram stations are nearby the hotel. Furthermore, around the corner, the beautiful river tingles throughout the city. On the other side of the river is the botanical garden, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, and more to see. My room was on the ground floor having an outside area where I could sit. The room itself was not that large but offered anything I required. The bathroom was spacious enough, having also a large shower and the bed was comfortable. When arriving at the hotel, I had problems paying the hotel with the credit card due to reached limits of upfront tavels. The staff was very welcoming and allowed me to pay a part directly to stay below the limit and the remaining fee on the next day after my limit was extended.

My only real issue was the cleanliness of the bed. In the first room, I got, some chips/cracker remaining was laying on the bed. The staff immediately took care of that and assigned me to a new room.

Location was amazing, spot on. It was so quiet considering it's location, amazing! The bed was comfortable. The staff that I met were lovely and accommodating. The cleaner was so friendly and cheerful.

The overall comfort of the room was great, but being so small, it did have its quirks. They had really tried to use the space well, but I had to plug the kettle in on the floor because the sockets had been blocked by the wardrobe. The bathroom door, albeit functional, wasn't private when the light was. The "tiny" sink in the bathroom had a tendency to spray out due to water pressure and to fill the kettle you had to use a cup. Could do with some bleaching in the shower, the grout etc. That being said, I would book again. There is far worse in Melbourne for the price Best Western charged.

Convenient for a short stay and getting an early train from Southern Cross. Reception staff were friendly and efficient, definitely a smoother and comfortable check in than I've had at other budget overnight stay hotels and that alone will have me coming back. Room was as described, bed comfortable. The foyer is updated and welcoming and even though I wasn't travelling with a pet I liked the availability of pet friendly rooms noted in reception!

Room smelled a bit musty and the window didn't stay open to air it out, but I was only staying one night so wasn't too fussed. Linens were clean, bathroom light didn't illuminate the shower stall and the shower walls could have been cleaned better but again, was fine for an overnight stay. The building is older with dated carpet but the furnishings are clean and comfortable and well worth the price point.

Their friendly staff responded to my question before I went to Mel at the right time, it was really helpful that I found the easy way out from the airport, to my first trip in Mel even without the Internet. It’s at great location in Melbourne. The bedroom fits me with big suitcases 🧳to open is a great size room, also I like the bed have bigger space for my arms out of mattress. It’s a cosy bathroom, but after a hot shower can quickly jump to bed. It’s a great deal for my 7 night.

It’s classic building blocks, so you might hear from outside sounds.

The Motel was quiet yet well located with respect to transport and sightseeing venues. We did not take a taxi for the whole trip and enjoyed walking around the city of Melbourne. The staff were friendly and helpful. Beds were comfortable. The room was clean.

The selection of teas and coffees in the room was basic. Given that the downstairs coffee shop was closed and it was not possible to order breakfast and all the nearby coffee shops were closed at 3.00pm on a Saturday afternoon food was a bit iffy when we first arrived. Also the water jug was difficult to fill and I ended up using a glass and the power points should be at desk height and not under the desk. The cord for the jug only just reached the shaver powerpoint beside the basin in the bathroom and this is not safe.

The staff were SUPER approachable, friendly and considerate! The location was great! Lots of eateries close by. I didnt travel with a car- public transport options are plenty and convenient and most of the city attractions are within walking distance anyway. The appliances all worked. The room was as advertised. Housekeeping staff were very friendly too! Always smiling! Loved the abundance of space for luggage and literally everything else! Room was small but well planned and well thought out. The bed was VERY comfy! I came in when it was rainy and cold and the concierge who checked me in ( sorry Ive forgotten his name 😬)- brought me up an extra blanket and sorted out the heater for me within minutes of me getting there (thank you!)
