Art Series - The Chen

Brilliant location, tram stop practically at the front door and train station only a few minutes walk. Quick and easy trip into the city. Lots of great food options and two supermarkets in the shopping centre across the road. Clean, comfortable, modern hotel with an amazing rooftop pool. Really enjoyed our staycation here. Would choose this hotel again.

Parking took a little while as you go to one car park near reception to check in and then need to move your car to another car park to actually park. But at the end of the day, the extra five or ten minutes involved is more than made up for by how great the pool is!

Loved the customer service, the cleanliness and the general aesthetic and comfortableness. Everything lived up to our expectations. The cost was also pretty good for how good the stay was. Would definitely consider stay again.

Lack of streaming services, even if they didn’t have the log ins, they could’ve had the apps. The closing times for the gyms, pools and bbq area. There being only one washer and dryer, it took me 3.5 hours to wash and dry my clothes between trying to fit in my washing with other guest’s

Amazing friendly staff, beautiful views, awesome pool, secure and safe parking. I really do like this hotel and would consider booking into it a third time. It's so close to the hospital so it's very convenient for me. I also like that the check out time is 11am so not too early. It's right near a shopping plaza as well.

Our air-conditioning didn't work. You only get one tiny milk for making hot beverages. Other motels include cookies, toast, cereal, etc but this one only has tea and coffee and one little milk thing.

Facilities are pretty nice, everything looks like in the pictures, nice smell, staff are so friendly, tram station in front of the building and a shopping centre in the corner, TV channel for the kid, modern... we had a good experience.

They don't have a microwave in the room, staff offered me theirs but it's uncomfortable. We have some technical issues with the keys but the staff was helpful. They should offer the option to book a car park beforehand, we arrived late and were so tired to realise that we won't get one and go around to find one on the street

I am a relative local, however, I have travelled extensively and my children and I just loved our stay. The hotel is beside a public transport hub, no need to take out the car for the full three days, it was conveniently parked underneath the building for very little cost. Quick train ride for a day in Melbourne CBD at the Australian Open. So many eating options that 5 meals a day didn't get us to every restaurant we wanted to visit. Safe and family friendly location for evening strolls. The pool is lovely and has a BBQ area for self catering. Amazing views from the pool deck on Level 24 and viewing deck on Level 36. Rooms are clean, comfortable and functional. Being surrounded by Zhong Chen's colourful and naive watercolours on every floor was a highlight (the children were gifted paints and a small canvas on arrival. Above all else, every member of staff without exception was faultlessly friendly, professional, helpful... simply excellent in every regard. Other (much more expensive) hotels do not hold a candle to this team in terms of customer service and charm, we felt welcome and valued from booking to checkout. Highly recommended for a family stay, or any stay for that matter. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality!

Loved it all. Cleanliness very good but not absolutely immaculate would be the only very minor criticism I can come up with and, for the price and level of service just nitpicking. Awesome stay, faultless staff.

The location is great as we could walk to Box Hill Plaza. Woolworths ,Coles, MacDonalds ,a variety of shops, train station and plenty of Asian food outlets are located in the main and the newer part of the Plaza . One could also eat at the restaurants in the hotel. The swimming pool and the gym in the hotel are clean and nice. A rooftop on level 35 is good to look at sunrise and sunset.

The hotel guests parking is confusing. One has to enter through "Entrance 2" which is located further down from "Entrance 1". The hotel share the same building with other apartment owner/tenant residents and the car parks for hotel guests are located in different levels B1 and B2. The bed is too soft for my liking but OK to others in my family. The swimming pool and the gym are located in a separate building. I was walking through the car park B2 to get to the pool and the gym but later I found a quicker way from around the corner of my room.

The style and decor of the hotel and room. The room are considered to be spacious and it also has a good fridge and a kitchette which is handy.

There is no instruction for hooking to the wifi and we like to chromcast to the TV and we cannot do that. The bathroom is a bit small, the bathroom cabinet is a bit small without much table top space. There is no facial tissue in the room, also two more glass or cup that we can use for toothbrush holder or gargle cup We have registered as member for discount carpark, however, around 10.30 pm, we cannot find a carpark spot and has to find parking on the street.

The service here was exceptional, the staff were very nice and helpful during our stay. The facilities here are good and everything was super clean and well maintained. It’s also close to the shopping centre and train station which is super convenient. Definitely worth the money and would highly recommend

Room cleaning service was done poorly as only thing done was changing the bins and towels.

Room was cozy, neat and tidy Although I didn't use much of the facilities the chen had to offer, location was great and prices were decent for a small trip

The check in time being 2pm with little chance of an early check in despite messaging ahead, after getting off an over nighter flight hoping to reach the accommodation for some rest, I was forced to keep pre occupied for a few hours before I can enter my room

The room layout was lovely, it was a little tight for 4 people-however we managed. Great views. The pool area was great- somewhere to swim and sit together with family and have a meal. Loved that the accommodation was in a central location- restaurants within walking distance, and public transport.

The only concern we had was that the shower door remains slightly ajar at the bottom which results in water ending up on the floor outside it, and to the side of the toilet.
