Westgate Historic Williamsburg Resort

The location was great.

Our room was dirty. There was trash behind the bathroom door and dirt on the toilet.

Location was great. Room was nice although our room was very small like a child’s bedroom with a small bathroom. Bed was super comfy!!! First time having a comfortable bed at a hotel!

Small room and bath. Also, saw a cockroach in the closet the day before our scheduled departure which led to us leaving and heading on home right then. We ended up spending $150 per night so we lost our $150 for not staying. Unfortunately, we just couldn’t stay after seeing the cockroach! Eeesh!!!

Everything was perfect and beyond what we expected, we were just looking for a place to spend the night and wanted to stay more. They have little games and scavenger hunts for children. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to have a good time.

The check-out was a little troublesome. We requested a late check-out but after they told us they could give us an extra hour, we got locked out of the room and had to wait for 30 minutes to be able to recover our bags.

Location was excellent, bed and temperature control, coffee pot, and frig worked well and were convenient. Pool was nice, there were life vests, and I liked the resort activities. The responses to my text requests were prompt.

The things I disliked were minimal. Pool was far enough from my room that I had to drive. There were no restrooms at the pool which was inconvenient. All amenities like coffee or trash replacement and removal were communicated through text, and I found the coffee refill pouches strapped to the outside of my door.

The staff was wonderful and helpful. The location was perfect, close to everything. The room was attractive and, for the most part, comfortable.

The shower was bad to leak on the floor. There are also several lights in the room, the TV red dot, the microwave clock, light on air conditioner, fan light on wall...it adds up. You might want to pack a sleep mask. Thermostat is hard to understand.

Staff was exceptional - took care of every request. Rooms, linens, bathrooms are clean. Parking is right outside rooms. Great location - only 1 mile from Colonial Williamsburg.

Carpets seemed worn. One lamp didn't work. Even if it had, I would like more lights in the room.

Easy booking and check-in. No problem with parking; easy to find a spot near our room despite checking in close to midnight. Room had a slight musty smell but was spacious and clean. Room had a desk, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, safe, hair dryer, iron and board, side table with two side chairs. We had the room with two queen beds and it was plenty of room for our family of four. We enjoyed the pool (the one that closed at 8pm…the other one closes at 11pm).

The musty smell in the room may be due to the heat of summer and the AC being turned down very cold. The pressure to attend the time share presentation was unexpected and it’s never fun to feel pressured to attend something like that. The worst, though, was a strong odor in the bathroom. It was similar to a sewage smell. We were in room 170. I smelled it the first day and my family could then smell it the second day. Maybe it’s time for the sewer lines to be flushed / replaced? Otherwise, it was an excellent stay.

I loved the cute accommodations. The staff was very nice and helpful. They would leave you alone if you wanted but were always nearby in case you needed something.

Not many smoking areas or butt buckets. Smokers are segregated like we are bad or something but that's not the hotels fault.

The two pools, art activities and mini golf were great for my daughter, and I was pleasantly surprised that the staff allowed her two cousins (who were not staying with us) to join in those activities. It made all the difference for us!

One of the staff members was a bit short with me, but maybe she was just having an off day. Everyone else made up for it.

The pools were nice and the fitness center was amazing since that is important to me. It was very clean and easy to get around property. And very good price!

It was deceiving when I booked the room. I didn’t know we were going to be off the beaten path of the main building which 100% we would have preferred. We had to drive to the main building for the fitness center and main pool (which was way nicer) than the second pool. The room we stayed in was not close to the main building and were tucked behind a restaurant which seemed kind of sketchy. I was upset about that because the main building and rooms around the registration area looked so nice. Our room was comfortable but tight and it was a king room. If you are booking this property ask to stay in the main building or the rooms that overlook the main pool by the entrance to the hotel. We would definitely stay here again but make sure we ask for that.
