Holiday Inn Express South Portland, an IHG Hotel

As it was our first time I didn’t know what to expect but everything and everyone from the staff to the room, products offered in the bathroom, the bedding, towels was excellent. even my 10y.o daughter was impressed which is practically a miracle. The pool could use some updating but except for that we were so happy we’ll be back this coming weekend.

The only thing I can think of that needs improvement is the pool, the seating was adequate but the pool itself needs updating.

The suite size, pillows and blanket.

The body wash was clearly refilled with a different type that was not Dove as advertised( half in pump was white and creamy, then the other half was a translucent beige ish liquid) and the “individual” body lotion was half gone and crusty when you open the top so it was clearly used by other customers. Any individual items should be that- just for 1 person and products should be as advertised. Otherwise it was a lovely stay!

Good location for access to Maine Medical Center and Portland Transportation Center at a lesser cost than downtown Portland.

Requested “accessible” room which was spacious with large bathroom. The bathroom had grab bars in the tub/shower but NO GRAB BARS near toilet, making access difficult and dangerous for an 80 yr old in a non-weight bearing cast.

The breakfast is very good with extensive offerings for this style of hotel. Special appreciation goes to Aziz, who insures that breakfast is running smoothly and that customers are happy.

It would be wonderful to have Electric Chargers for customers with Electric cars!!!

Location was great. A member of my party greatly enjoyed watching the planes take off and land from the airport.

The pool was closed when we arrived. It did finally open but the water was chilly for an indoor pool. It was disappointing as one member of my party was very much looking forward to swimming in the pool.

Close to all of the things, clean.

Pretty noisy. You can hear everyone in the hallway, neighbors doors down doing their thing late at night. Not pleasant after a long day and want to sleep.

The shuttle that was suppose to take us to the airport at 415 in the morning wasn’t working …. taxi was suppose to be there instead …. the shuttle showed up at 445 AM after several conversations with the front desk about time /flights …. then the shuttle shows up…. ?????

I loved how retro the room and decor were. Very clean and tidy looking. The breakfast was delicious and warm with a lot to choose from. There was a very private back entrance for easy in and out. Over all this place was an excellent stay.

The pool was too small for the amount of guest the hotel could hold. It was very full.

Overall the hotel was nice and the location was convenient to the interstate and to quickly get into Portland. Pretty reasonably priced compared to other options in the area.

The breakfast was very disappointing even for a covid safe solution. There was very little that someone with food allergies or other restrictions could have had. For that reason we ended up needing to pay for a breakfast elsewhere.

The staff was friendly & courteous. We had a pretty view from our room (on the 5th floor) & it was quiet in the hotel. Breakfast was wonderful, with lots to choose from!

The pool room had a very strong chlorine smell & burned my eyes after a few minutes.
