Holiday Inn Express - Downtown San Diego, an IHG Hotel

- They had a great breakfast with a clean breakfast room. - The price isn’t too bad, especially compared to hotels closer to the convention center. - The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and there is a plentiful amount of soap/shampoo. - The Wi-Fi is pretty good for hotel purposes. - The hotel staff was friendly. - The hotel felt pretty safe since the only place a person can get in without a key card is the front door, and then they have to go past the front desk. I was not worried about safety. - You’re not too far from the airport (but you need a ride – not a walkable thing). - Your room will likely come with a complimentary water bottle or two and there are various places where you can get cold drinking water around the hotel (and coffee is on hand too).

- My AC wasn’t working well where I could never get the room to cool down to a cooler temperature. However, it’s San Diego, so it’s never too hot. - It’s pretty far from the convention center (if that is your destination). It’s over a mile walk but it is a safer walk than other hotels (just head to fifth street and you’re fine). - I wish they had some kind of shuttle service for those times when I needed quicker transport. - The exercise room is nice but it’s really hot in there. They could use a fan in there. - There is no bathtub (at least, not in my room).

Patrick at the front desk was rude and unprofessional

The staff was warm, friendly, cooperative. They made suggestions of activities to engage in based on what my needs were. The breakfast was also a bonus and there was a variety of delicious food to choose from. Coffee is available all day and in the evenings there is complimentary popcorn in the lobby

Location is super central, our room had a balcony with a great view - downtown San Diego high-rises! Amazingly clean and comfy bathroom, mini fridge and keurig coffe-maker in the room (although no microwave), great AC/heater, big TV, some breakfast included, there's also vending machines in the hallway - overall very good, convenient and clean!

Parking garage is a little cramped to maneuver an SUV in, I was afraid I would hit something. There was some old furniture stashed on one of the parking levels. Some people were smoking pot in their room and we could smell it very well in the hallway and in our room :D

The front desk person was new, but he went through things methodically with a cheat sheet :) in hand and I liked the dedication of the staff. Although it took some time check in was done correctly. Breakfast was very good.

Parking is a bit strange, it is around the corner in the parking garage and requires the room card for entry & exit. The place to park the car for check in and out is constrained.

Staff was very attentive and friendly , room was nice & spacious and clean . Breakfast was good too. Loved that is was closed to the zoo. Didn’t have any problem with parking .

Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived :( we waited about 1 hour and there was other people waiting as well but other than that we enjoyed our visit

Other than the things stated in the what I don’t like, everything else was fine.

I felt like we needed a microwave in our room and I didn’t like that you have to pay $23 a night to park in the structure. I feel like that should be apart of the pay when you book your hotel stay since you have your car key to get in the garage.

Room was not big but very adequate. Could of used a microwave in the room but the lobby had one. Staff was very nice and helpful. Great location too!

The hotel had a water outage which was a major inconvenience, which was not their fault as it affected other businesses in the area but did discount my stay and waived the parking. The staff was really great & polite as they were very busy dealing with the water outage & all the disgruntled customers that were checking out and trying to find info.

This is a nice hotel with a good location within walking distance to Gaslamp Quarter and even Petco Park. Their breakfast has a bit of everything, recommended.

The neighborlng parking garage is conveniently accessible by elevator, but it is a bit tight for bigger vehicles (or not careful enough drivers). They could get rid of the plastic utensils at breakfast, they’re not the best choice for the environment.

the location was great! All kinds of food places within walking distance and the park/zoo was very close and walkable. There is even a free rideshare group that takes you in a radius of the downtown/gaslamp area for free! The breakfast was amazing and offered more than just prepackaged food.

The room was small, and there was questionable people hanging around about a block away but it wasn’t bad and never did we feel unsafe.
