Dunsmuir Inn & Suites Dunsmuir

We travel by car from Seattle to the SF/Sacramento area a few times a year and always stop here for a night or two. The staff recognize us now and are wonderful people. Our room is always nicely appointed and comfortable. It's quiet. And the location is perfect for us - walking distance to All Aboard Coffee (drive-thru across the street) and Cobra Lily, a lovely wine bar. It's also close to the Sacramento River, with easy access to the mountains and back onto to the highway. Will go back again.

I called in early evening to say I would be delayed by traffic. The hosts generally aren't available to let guests in after 11 pm (that was clear at booking) but they were very gracious about making an exception. If I expected to be late I would have picked a more conventional motel to avoid inconvenience to the hosts. The beds and pillows were unusually comfortable for a 2 star hotel, more what I would expect for 4 star. Though this is clearly not a fancy venue, to me the most important is comfort of bed, and quiet, which was also excellent. The two rooms were next to each other, as I requested if possible. There was a refrigerator, quite convenient.

Nothing really. There was no breakfast, but I didn't expect one during COVID.

We chose the Dunsmuir Inn primarily for it's location; it was just the right distance from our night before and home on our recent road-trip. We were pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and quiet our room was, especially given that it was not far from I-5. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Dunsmuir Inn to other travelers.

The owners went out of their way to accommodate us! We arrived on a 5am train😳. They told us when the office opened so we could drop our luggage. To get us in a room faster the owner cleaned the first one empty! The room was large, comfy bed, and they maintain beautiful flowers outside. We’d definitely stay here again.

Loved! ❤️. The room was clean and orderly, clearly had new upgrades throughout including the mattresses. At least in our room. Very comfortable mattress and pillows. Nice water pressure. They had just replaced all of the carpeting. The owners (I assumed they are) were gracious and it is clear they really care about the comfort of their guests.

I wouldn’t change a thing. Great value.

The Dunsmuir Inn & Suites is conveniently located near the I-5 exit but it doesn't feel like it because the little town of Dunsmuir's surroundings are well forested. After a lot of searching, this inn provided the best value in the area. The woman who checked us in were very gracious. The updates have been reasonable, and our room was very clean. One can tell that the owners are attentive to the property.

I have no suggestions for the property owners except to continue being attentive! Sadly, the town of Dunsmuir has clearly been hit hard by the pandemic (as most small towns have). If more visitors stay in Dunsmuir, the conditions will eventually change.

I liked the location, the owners were very welcoming and friendly. I asked about hikes in the area and was directed to their favorite park hike which was excellent. Bed and all accommodations were very comfortable. I would stay there again.

It was a little expensive.

This place was clean and well-kept but nothing fancy: just a nice motel. It felt safe and clean. We were staying there overnight on a road trip and appreciated the easy access to the rooms and quick check in and check out.

The cost was a little steep for a single night at a roadside motel, but it was worth it to us to not be afraid to use the shower.

This place is amazing. I feel horrible cause I made a reservation on the wrong day. And they guy called me even tho I barely had service on the 299 and he held a reservation for us. I will definitely book with these guys again. New favorite Inn. 😍

It was so clean, everything was perfect in working order and the bed was comfty. The shower curtain was placed just right and it didn't touch me. I always view that as a win. The nice man who checked us in was a pleasure to talk too.
