Pioneer Inn Downtown

The property has great views of snow-capped mountains and glaciers across the Bay. Many good dining options in easy walking distance. Last, but not least, Lila (the host) is absolutely wonderful and made a stay very pleasant.

My 57-year old son and 25-year old grandson had some complaints about the twin beds but the third queen bed was just fine. The bed complaint from my son might have been related to a torn rotator cuff that he waited to get repaired until after the fishing trip.

Instead of a hotel room, think small 1-bedroom apartment that is furnished. When we got there, instead of the smell of Fabreeze or some other cleaner, all you could smell is .. clean is the only way to describe it. Slight ionization in the air, but it smelled like outdoors air, but without the slight smell of fish the rest of the town has. It's hard to describe. There were fresh grounds for the coffee pot, ice in the freezer to use, and this is the first place I've ever stayed in that had silverware and plates and such there for use. It was like one of those places you see on Air B&B. Very nice. And half the price of a smaller room at the Best Western up the street.

They didn't leave complementary soap for us to steal? At least not that I saw. They had hand soap in a pump bottle, Oh, and the nerve to not have EXTRA ABSORBENT two-ply toilet paper, instead. Seriously, though, Shannon and I made a video to show our friends and family just how good this room was. There wasn't a thing to complain about.

If you like a personal touch, this place is for you. Lila was a super hostess, very helpful and personable. How many motel owners greet you at your door? Our room was small but very clean and had everything we needed - bed, tv, fridge, microwave, shower, plus a notebook full of local information. Location was excellent (surprisingly quiet) and the lovely flowers around the property, a plus. I'll definitely be back! (RS)

'Wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful property! Lila was an outstanding hostess!! She upgraded us to a room with a view. It was amazing to wake up and look out the window at that snow tipped mountain and the sea. Comfortable beds, kitchenette, and space for a family if you needed it. Walkable to restaurants.

The very best part are the hosts. They could not have been more accommodating or welcoming. Our room was great and we had the (very comfortable) king sized bed we requested. It was close to the car which made it easy to load and unload the car. The view was wonderful from our window. We stayed several days and would have loved to stay longer!

I hesitate to even mention this, as it is such a small thing, but maybe the hosts could set the little refrigerator on a shelf or table so that it is easier to reach. That would be the only thing that we would suggest.

We loved our stay. Lila was very friendly and helpful. She changed our room when she saw the stairs would be a problem for my mom. We so appreciated this. She had a wonderful notebook with a treasure trove of information about Homer. We highly recommend this inn.

Owner Manager attends to every detail of your stay. My room was fully furnished with every home comfort you would expect at a Hilton Hotel but for a “2 star” price…..Most highly recommend for anyone visiting Homer Alaska!

The parking lot and driveway are dirt and gravel. The building needs some paint and landscaping but your overall room and guest experience will be stellar!

Lila was very kind and attentive. She reached out to us multiple times before and during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Amazing guest service. The beds were comfy and suited our needs perfectly. Nice view from the front window too

Great accomodations. Very clean, cozy & convenient to restaraunts & shopping. Host greeted us on arrival and showed us to our room and gave us some tips on Homer. In addition, host has compiled a great guide in the room to local hikes, scenic drives and lots of tour info. Everything was excellent with stay.
