The Minster Hotel

Nice location. The room decor is outdated, however I personally like it as it’s like staying in someone’s home, the bed was comfy and the room and bathroom were clean. The staff were very friendly and easy to talk to.

The only thing I didn’t like was the size of the tv in the room, you need binoculars if your eyesight is anything less than perfect.

An excellent hotel in a wonderful location. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. Our room was outstanding (four poster bed), spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We had an amazing stay in York and the hotel was a bonus. Great value for money

Very warm and charming.

Unfortunately we had two huge heavy suitcases and were up 3 flights of stairs and i pinched a nerve in my hip getting the cases up. No lifts. Just request a lower floor if this is going to be an issue. All else was great.

Location was great, staff were all really helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good.

The room that we were given was right at the top of the building on the third floor, The stairs were very steep with no lift it was difficult with suitcases.

We liked everything about the hotel .we have stayed before hence our return .

A lot of stairs to climb to 3rd floor would have preferred a lower floor which we will request on our next visit .we're not lazy just getting older I suppose wears you out .

Breakfast excellent. Location excellent. Nice and quiet. Friendly staff.

Toilet seat very loose which i mentioned but nothing was done. No toilet brush.

The staff are so professional and super friendly. Each one made us feel so welcome. My husband and I travelled with my parents.Who loved everything about the hotel. We stayed on the ground floor, easy access for my parents.With the added bonus of secure private parking . The rooms are spotless. The beds are huge and very comfortable. The shower was lovely and hot. The breakfasts are outstanding. I have never seen so much on offer.From cold meats ,cheese ,fresh fruits ,figs,prunes ,melon,cereals, granola, fresh yoghurt, fresh bread. Pastries. The list goes on. The full English is top class too. I can not see anyone being disappointed staying at the Minster Hotel. It is situated just just a couple of minutes walk from the Minster .The perfect location. And extremely quiet at night. We can not wait to return .

Everything was fantastic.

The location was conveniently placed outside the city boundary but within walking distance to it, everything and the train station. It was in a quiet area. Had pubs, eateries and takeaways along that road. We were in a large double room in the basement which also had a large ensuite bathroom which was perfect for us. There were sachets of tea/coffee/white n brown sugar/lots of milk/2 pkts of cookies/2 cups/tspoon and a kettle. The only noise you hear: From outside if you left the window open. The floorboards on the stairs leading down to the basement and outside the room. The floorboards above the room when people are moving about in the reception area. Or when a member of staff came to use the toilets outside our room and/or open/shut the fire door. None of these really bothered us as we were usually out all day exploring York. And at night, we shut the window and curtains to block out the outside noise, we slept soundly each night. Our first night was a bit chilly but other than the huge radiator in the room, there is a Dyson type cold/hot air blower on the dressing table which we used to warm up the room which was set on auto and blew out hot air intermittently. The cleaner don't enter the room during your stay unless you want them to but will leave a bag of tea/coffee/cookies for the next day outside your door. Breakfast was included in our package and situated behind reception. There was a cold continental buffet laid out which you can help yourself to while you wait for your hot breakfast which you order from the table menu. Everything was always perfectly laid out. The staff were polite and friendly, especially the gentleman who took your hot meal orders (Richard??). The reception were friendly and informative. We have decided that this is where we would like to stay again if we visited York in the near future.

The noise as mentioned above but was not a major problem.

Lovely hotel. Friendly staff. Very helpful and courteous. Rooms were left for duration of your stay without housekeeping. You were advised of this in welcom letter. You could ask for daily housekeeping if you wished. Replenishment packs left outside your door, i.e. tea coffee etc. Near to York Minster/hop on/off bus route. Plenty of places to eat and drink all within walking distance.

Would prefer lower floor as partner has mobility issues so struggled up and downstairs in room we were allocated. I did ask for a lower room floor in email to hotel but didn't challenge as hotel was busy and possibly couldn't offer on dates of our stay.
