Lil's On The Waterfront

Right on the river Ouse with a nice view. Very easy to find and get to. The room was a nice size, very clean with everything to hand. TV, tea and coffee and fresh towels etc each day. It's an old building but has a nice modern feel to the room particularly the bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful, let us leave our luggage after checkout which was a bonus. Thanks for having us. Added some pics, ignore the bags etc they were taken as we were leaving.

Not criticisms... might be helpful to help others. Be aware that there is a bar downstairs and pubs nearby. So if you're into early nights it might not be for you. Wouldn't suit anyone with mobility issues as stairs up to room.

it was very central

The room was very basic, we had to ask for a bedside lamp and the television never worked although they got someone in to repair it.

The location is perfect. Room was clean

deluxe room with river view was booked but to get a full view we had to lean out of the window, my daughter booked a cheaper room with a side view, the room was smaller but had a perfect view of the river.

The fact Lil's is located right on the waterfront and also close to the centre suited myself and my partner perfectly. The staff were polite and nice to talk to. The room was cosy and it was easy to get the room to the temperature that was comfortable. The fact that there is a pub below meant that if we wanted a drink or a quick bite to eat we didn't have to go far. The room itself was the perfect size for a couple and the bathroom was beautiful. The shower was big and everything was clean. If we had an issue or needed something replacing it was no issue and the staff were attentive. Upon leaving the room on the first morning the bumped into the cleaner who asked if we needed anything or would like the room freshening. The second morning when we left he asked if the shower was working and checked to see if everything was OK. I thought this was lovely and showed how caring the staff are.

On the first day the shower wouldn't filter the water away and the water didn't run hot. However, upon mentioning this to staff it was fixed and they were very polite. Also been close to above other pubs meant that it was loud at points throughout the night but it didn't really bother me however could be an issue to other people who are awoken by sound. Another issue with staying above the pub and around other pubs was the loud noises that delivery drivers made early in the morning.

Great location for The Barbican. We only needed a place to sleep for one night and were finding the usual hotel chains ridiculously expensive. This was excellent value and I think some reviews we read were a little unfair. Our room was well equipped and presented. It didn't have a window (old riverside warehouse) but we weren't bothered. It was clean, tidy and very quiet eventhough it was a Saturday night. There's also a 15% discount off food which was good, decent pub grub. The staff were friendly and helpful despite being busy with the bar and we were able to leave our case for a few hours before we checked in.

when checking in, the first room given to us had no window, was painted grey and felt like a prison cell, very claustrophobic (it said no view when booking but didn’t realise it meant no window at all so just a miscommunication there!) but when I asked staff if I could switch rooms they were more than happy to help and put us in the most beautiful comfy room with wonderful view for a small upgrade cost.

Check in went extremely smooth, we were slightly early but got shown to our room straight away. The location of this hotel was perfect for a quick city break/ The bed was very comfy, and all the facilities were up to a high standard.

There was some noise from people on the street outside at night, but it is in a central location so this cannot be helped and does not reflect badly on the hotel. Travelling by car, there is no parking for this hotel but there are several large pay and display carparks close by, so it is not too much of an issue.

2nd floor onto of pub, but clientele very quiet! Beautiful Riverside location easy walking to all tourist destinations. A little shabby (stained carpets, scuffed furniture, lampshades and skirting boards dusty) but overall a great place to stay, staff very helpful and would certainly return. Kettle with tea and coffee provided, also ironing board and iron. No hairdryer so just remember to bring your own!
