Beech House Hotel

We stayed at this hotel as a family for just over a week, while here we suffered a medical emergency. The staff were incredible & ensured we were looked after in a time of need, ensuring our granddaughter could stay an extra few days. Particularly Nazlee went above and beyond for us always. Written on the behalf of my grandparents, I can’t thank you enough for the help and support while we stayed with you! The beds were also extremely comfortable, the showers incredible and the breakfast was lovely too!

There was nothing we could think of that we didn’t like. The only thing we had to point out was about the bed, we were told that due to having several guests one of the beds in the room broke. But it was fine all morning, we went out & the cleaners came in; then later that evening when we came back it was only then we noticed it was wobbly. This isn’t something we would say we “didn’t like”, we were just confused as to how the bed was fine when we went out and wobbly when we came back but we’re told by the owner that it was us and our guests that had caused the bed to start being unsteady.

This is a beautiful period hotel. It is tastefully decorated and feels timelessly elegant. Not a scrap of modern blonde wood anywhere! We were warmly greeted and invited to take a seat in the very comfortable sitting room whilst completing the check in process. Our bedroom was towards the back of the house, it was comfortable, warm and restful. The tea/coffee facilities were generous and the bathroom spotless with lovely toiletries and thick, soft white towels. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the pillows perfect and we both had the best nights sleep for a while. Breakfast was hot and plentiful with both continental and full English breakfast available. If you are looking for a generic, corporate and bland hotel, then Beech House is not for you. But if you want a warm welcome, a comfortable bed and a sumptuous breakfast… well book now!

Central heating came on in the morning which made it much too hot (with no obvious way to turn down radiator). Wasn't too keen on the giant bedspread as it didn't look like it was cleaned regularly, so would have preferred it wasn't on the bed. The hotel pre-authorised my card for 1 night in advance, without warning, then I paid the full amount for both nights on arrival. After over a week, the pre-authorised amount still hasn't been paid back into my account, which is less than ideal...

Magnificent communication and help before we even arrived. The hotel sent a little message asking about arrival time. I advised that we would be early as we had a wedding to attend. Within an hour, they responded, with taxi numbers and advice around travel and locations to help us. Upon arrival, they had a room ready in case we needed to change. Check-in was swift. We ordered breakfast for the next day, seamless. Breakfast the next day was plentiful, the quality of hot food was great, as was the coffee. The room and general hotel were immaculate, hospitality outstanding, and staff amazing. All in all, fantastic.

The bed was a little hard for me, but that's personal preference, I still slept all night.

A very traditional English hotel. A nice change from the chain hotels which all seem to look the same whichever country you are in.As it is situated on a very busy road I was concerned about road noise. However, my room at the back overlooking the garden was as quiet as the countryside.It was also very cool even when the outside temperature was 31 degs.Staff were very efficient and helpful.Buses in to Reading are plentiful. Didnt even bother looking up the timetable.

Nothing to dislike. I usually prefer a more central location because of easier access to food outlets but then if it were more centrally located it would be more expensive.

The room was enormous and very, very clean. It had a pleasant appearance, with large bed and the owner of the hotel had considered everything a guest would want. He and she were expert in running this sort of business. The main advantage was their complete professionalism and attention to every detail. Breakfast was set downstairs in a very impressive small dining room with exquisite furniture and pretty art prints on the walls.

Beautiful hotel, thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable. Incredibly warm welcome by the hosts and they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. We arrived very wet and they were so gracious and helpful. Breakfast in the morning was served in a rich and relaxing setting. Again everything thought out to ensure the customer had a comfortable experience. Highly recommend even if it is not in the center of town. Lovely surroundings make up for that. I’d say it was a 15 out of 10.

The hotel was very clean, comfortable. Parking excellent. We were met at the door by a staff member who was very polite and professional. Bedroom was exceptional with the biggest bed I've ever slept in. Great shower. Breakfast and service by staff members was again very professional and friendly. Will definitely use this location again. Highly recommended.

booked a single room had an up grade to a double on arrival :) owner was very good very pleasant and couldn't do enough for you, Breakfast was really good plenty of choice and sets you up for the day

the room I had had no view just a little court yard and and looking at a brick wall , had to have the window open as warm could hear the traffic on the road , if you get a room on the back of the house over looking the garden would be ideal

A very well appointed place to stay on the outskirts of Reading. Easy to find and there is a Beefeater Restaurant/Pub literally across the road where I enjoyed a good meal and felt welcomed by the staff. Good TV and all one needs for an overnight rest. This was my second visit here so fully recommend.

I had a problem with the shower control in room 6. Might have been me as I often find these controls hard to work out. I left early so didnt mention it.
