The breakfast was quite adequate, given the difficulty they have recruiting staff to deliver a full English breakfast. The pub over the road from the accommodation is fabulous, with great food and Jail Ale on tap which makes the pub amazing. The entertainment at the pub was great and the care and consideration of the staff was very excellent. They work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. The Dolphin at Kingston is way into the sticks of South Devon and is tricky to get to. The location and stay was ideal for our purposes.

Maybe a bit more variety at breakfast; a range of cold meats, a few different local cheeses, hot croissants, better range of coffees, as the packet stuff available was pretty grim.

really charming little village pub with 3 rooms upstairs, and on the Friday night I stayed, the pub was filled with all the locals for fish fry night. Very happy atmosphere and the staff was working hard and smiling. Excellent blueberry flapjacks, and the french fries were so perfect! Located about 1.5 easy miles from a gorgeous and almost-unused beach on the coast path, great spot to stay if you're walking the coast! Generous continental breakfast ready and waiting by 8am. Clean and updated bathroom.

Right from the off we got a warm friendly reception when we entered this historic and authentic old Devon pub which was much needed after walking 7 hours in the rain! Warren and Zoe run a lovely informal place with great beer, delicious food and entertaining chat courtesy of Warren always available. If you're after cookie cutter B&B experience keep waking but if you want proper heartfelt hospitality with good food and drink thrown in then roll up. Hope to be back one day!

nothing, all good.

Lovely freshly cooked breakfast, choice of cereals, fruit juices, tea and coffee followed by a full English. The pub is in the middle of a tiny village with just the pub, no shop but that was as expected as we have stayed there before and love the location. The pub is open all day and serves a limited menu of around 5/6 dishes in the evening but all delicious.

Quite a small double bed with a top sheet and duvet (no duvet cover which I would have preferred to the sheet). It was a very warm weekend and would have been nice to have a fan available in the room. Certainly wouldn't stop me from staying again.

I liked the stone walls and the shower was perfect for a hot day and easy to access and use and the breakfasts were very well prepared as was the one meal I had in the evening and I liked the local Dartmoor ''Jail Ale'' in a shandy. It was good for a short break but without transport as I was it is a bit isolated and there is no shop in the village and no bus either. There are no meals laid in in Sunday evenings but the barman helped me order an Indian take away form the Royal ghurka Spice restaurant in Modbury which was kindly delivered to me and their food was nice.

There were very low doorways in the accomodation and pub so you have to be careful if you are tall not to knock your head but it is an acceptable risk for a short break.

My stay was perfect for my needs. A quirky room with character, plenty of choice for the continental breakfast in a beautiful location not far from the SW coastal path. Zoe was extremely accommodating and friendly. Thank you 🙏🏽 ☺️

I really enjoyed my stay and the facilities met my needs. The only enhancements for me would be to…. Fix the LHS bed light. Turn off the heating at night and wipe along the top of the skirting boards otherwise just perfect. Thank you 😊

We loved being at The Dolphin Inn. It was a little gem tucked away. Small and friendly. Well used by the locals. So relaxed and friendly. The staff were lovely and so kind. They made us so welcome and would do anything for you. We much enjoyed the home made pizzas and fish. Kingston is a lovely village. And everyone was so friendly

The pub has recently been taken over and has only a few rooms. Shawn is working very hard to make it a viable village pub and was very helpful but clearly run off his feet. A good atmosphere, relaxed, with fairly basic accommodation. That's what we expected. The location near Wonwell beach is terrific and you can drive down there in 5 minutes. The scenery and swimming at high tide is lovely and you can walk up the estuary at low tide. Unfortunately the shortest walking route from the pub to the beach has been cut off so it is about 40 minutes walk down and a bit longer (steep hill) back. You can walk over to Mothecombe cove at low tide.

Should include fruit for breakfast. Very good to have food, reasonably priced, at the pub, including sandwiches for lunch. They could also expand variety as they settle down especially more veg and salad.

Walking the coast path. This little country pub was a perfect stop for us as we had to juggle the various ferry and Erme creek crossing times. The manager was really lovely, despite no food offering that night we stayed she kindly offered to whip us up something to eat. This was much appreciated.

We stayed here a couple or so years back and we’re glad we returned a couple of days ago. The Dolphin is a quirky little country pub which is now under the new, but very experienced management who are working hard for their customers. Given the low price they’re charging for rooms – which admittedly could do with a little TLC, you’d have to describe it as a bargain. Beautiful location and the high calibre of everyone we met, including the young barman, I’m amazed with some of the more negative reviews. Perhaps these people would be better suited to staying in a hotel which will charge them 3 times as much for night’s stay and not in an old country pub. We were made to feel welcome from the minute we walked through the door into the flagstoned bar. Nothing seemed too much trouble – and we’re not easily impressed. The Dolphin is a great place to stay where you’ll be made very welcome, and which serves great food and drinks. We’ll definitely see you again. Good luck.

It could do with a little TLC, as parts are looking a little tired. That didn't bother us though. The quality of the staff and the fabulous location more than made up for that.
