Check in was easy and the staff were very welcoming. Both of us needed to be at a new school early for induction and so we needed an early breakfast, which staff accommodated without fuss. Room was excellent value for money. Only improvement would be to add air conditioning but the fans provided gave sufficient air movement to allow us to sleep.

Slightly stressful with regards to carparking. There is non onsite parking. We got lucky and managed to park opposite but it was luck that someone left the space as we arrived. Travelling with a young child meant I didn't want to be away from the room for a long period of time to unload and if we had to park further away this would have been a problem.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Cannon Brewery. As we were aware that parking isn’t readily available we parked at the St Andrew Flexi Stay and it was a 5-10 minute walk from there (If I were rating West Suffolk Council on the clarity and functionality of their payment system it would be sad faces all round, but the car park itself was large and had plenty of spaces). On arrival we checked in at the bar and reserved a table for dinner. The rooms themselves were on the small side, but comfortable and well equipped. A Nespresso machine was a most welcome addition! We had a really good meal that evening and enjoyed taking part in the weekly quiz. The bar/restaurant was very busy, which is a testament to the quality of the offering there. Breakfast was truly magnificent. The staff were all welcoming and enthusiastic.

If I had to find any criticism it’s that the rooms (and particularly en-suites) look as though they haven’t been decorated for a while. This did not bother me.

The property is brilliantly located within just a few minutes walk from the town centre. The room was lovely and clean with a huge bathroom. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a very nice buffet of cereals, mini pastries and juices to start up with, and then a good choice of cooked breakfasts, all included in the price of the room. I wasn't expecting that. I had contacted the property beforehand to request oat milk for my husband and the promised oat milk was ready for him. We'd definitely go back if we go back to Bury st Edmunds.

Everything was great.

Quirky little pub/micro brewery on the edge of Bury St Edmunds. Comfortable, spacious rooms with great pillows. TV was a bit small given the size of the room, but we were out and about most of the time, so it didn't matter too much. We ate dinner in the bar in the evening and had great service from our very enthusiastic server. Breakfast was tasty with a good range of options - eggs feature heavily. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend The Old Cannon and Bury St Edmunds as a place to stay.

It's not a deal breaker but there isn't parking on site. Residents parking permits in the roads and car park outside are from 10am - 16.00 so if you need to park up before 16.00 it might be an issue. Parking is free after 16.00 and all day Sunday. There was a traffic warden checking the cars when we initially arrived.

Clean, comfortable room, good ensuite shower. on brewing courtyard. Quiet at this time of year (Spring) as no-one sitting outside. What was the onsite parking is now a covered seating courtyard due to Covid, probably great fun on a warm evening. The beers are interesting, the Best was our favourite. The restaurant for evening meal was also pretty good and the choices are fine. Easy stroll into town centre.

Hmmm. We may have been unlucky, but there were a couple of minuses. No parking permit for our day in Bury, so car had to be moved. Breakfast... first morning, the Full English had only 3 components, music was far too loud, server was very obviously either having a bad day or untrained; second day, one breakfast was served cold and toast wasn't actually toasted. However, the choices are good and the quality of the ingredients fine. Finally, we did request that room be serviced but it was only partially done.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, although there was some dated furniture (this depends on room). Very good (and hot) shower. Comfortable bed and pillows, had a very good nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely, wide choice available and very good quality. No rush and nice and relaxing environment. We had dinner in the evening and this was also very enjoyable and of good quality. Not the widest selection and unfortunately some options were not available, but the offerings were very tasty and filling. The beer selection was outstanding. They had 8 varieties on tap and they were all really crisp and flavoursome, much better than some brewers in the town! ;-)

Parking wasn't ideal, due to the residential parking restrictions. But the nearby Ram Meadows car park is cheap and only a short walk to the brewery. The majority of the staff were absolutely great, but there was one who was a little curt towards the end of the night.

Loved the fact that there was a micro brewery on site. Staff were helpful and welcoming on arrival and the pub lunch we had was good and plentiful. Our room had everything we needed and was very clean and comfortable. We had breakfast with our booking which was very good. Lots of choice and of good quality. Service was efficient but also friendly and relaxed. We enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again if in the area. The pub is located very near the town centre but also quiet enough to be away from the busyness of the town centre.

Liked everything so no complaints at all.

The Gunport Stout room was a beautiful, spotless and very spacious twin room with a large en-suite shower room. The beds were super cosy and comfortable. We both slept really well. Breakfast was a real feast. There was a good range of cereals, yogurt, juices and pastries to choose from the cold table, followed by a comprehensive menu of hot dishes, all freshly prepared to order and served in generous portions. The freshly brewed coffee was too notch. We had a great stay. This was a return visit for us and we will definitely be back for another.

We weren’t there long enough!

Almost everthing particularly our lunch (outside our booking) and dinner once we booked and of course the beer in the pub. Brill.

Just one thing only which unfortunately left us with a sour taste. .....breakfast. Was looking forward to a full English in a near perfect location but have to say it was disappointing. The Gunners Daughter sausage was pretty tasteless, while the blood pudding was served near enough cremated. The scrambled egg was actually runny in part while the streaky bacon felt like it was left overs from yesterday. I know we should have complained then but we had really enjoyed the one night stay but left with a bad taste excuse the pun. I will put it down to experience and hope the breakfast chef just had a bad morning that day as everthing else was as good as it comes.

Location was excellent, a close walk to the train station. Staff were very friendly and welcoming as I was a later check in, even carried my bag to my room! Room was very comfortable and I had everything I needed…fantastic shower!! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

Breakfast was excellent but a little slow to arrive. Wasn’t a huge issue, just wish I had more time to enjoy it.
