It’s the old prison so that was really interesting. The staff were super nice. The Japanese theme room was very comfortable. Very helpful that it had aircon, as Luzern was having some crazy hot weather.
The self check in wasn’t the best experience. You’re tied, been travelling all day or longer and you have to confront a a machine and enter all this information. I just want to hand over my passport, get my key and go to my room All the map apps route you via stairs. If you are bringing wheeled luggage you need to research the non map route. Easily done. But will catch you out if you don’t know.

I can really recommend this hotel! It’s a sibling from the Barabas hotel and lies in the same building. We spend the night here on our way to Italy. It was clean, rooms were big and I think for Switzerland prices it was good. There is a supermarket across the street.
There was noting not to like. But if I must say one thing: there was no parking in the direct neighborhood. It was a small 15min walk.

Great location. 2 hotels in 1. Interesting concept of jail. Nozomi part is cozy and very clean.
Non 24/7 reception (however, In case of late check in, room key is left in a security box). Not 100% clear navigation inside the hotel. Very poor breakfast.

Staff was very kind and supportive The japanese restaurant on the ground floor is very good, both the service and the food It's very well located in the city centre and near to a parking lot.
It was featured in Booking.com with nice japanese style photos of both common areas and rooms. Actually what Hotel Nozomi means is only three rooms in one end of Hotel Barabas, a former prison now converted into a hostel. I felt deceived because the post on Booking.com does not mention this and I was disappointed because I find prisons depressing rather than funny. If I had knew, I wouldn't have booked there.
