Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre

The spacious room, the things provided in the room like dryer, microwave, toaster, iron, plates, dish washer and utensils. It was my first time seeing a hotel room with such equipment and It was the best for my 6 nights stay. I also loved the transport we were provided with within the hotel, to and from our rooms. The shuttle service to the airport was the best. Thank you Birchwood hotel The kindness of the receptionists, at first I booked for a room with 1 queen bed and I did not change the room when I added another guest but during check in I was given a room with 2 Queen beds for the comfort of both of us, we did not have to share a bed. I am grateful, they made our stay at the hotel very comfortable and we felt safe.

The Room was Overall neat and tidy. The Reception Staff was Friendly and organised a Golf Car as I was in a Back Brace.

I took a Bolt from OR Tambo to the Birchwood. My driver was very friendly and when we got to the gate The Security at the gate told him He cant drive me in. I would have to walk from the gate to reception. This with a recent Back Op and Brace. I really felt this made everything bad for me and I was very upset about the Security at the Gate. This Really spoiled my stay all together that evening. A Gate Security Man should asses the situation No Matter What. He Told me that I should get out and walk. Very Very Wrong and distasteful. Please attend to this matter. Because of this I doubt I will go back to Birchwood and I surely wont recommend it to any friends or Family. I would like Birchwood Management to attend to this and give me some form of feedback as to how they have fixed this Issue.

Everything was great as always. One can never go wrong with Birchwood. I was glad I managed to geta slot since place is always fully booked. I recommend it to this place to anyone willing to get away a while with loved ones, special someone and for companies to have their meetings, conferences, team buildings or even school programs for the youth.

Just not packing me breakfast at 6:11am when I went to ask on my way out as I had to leave early for work where I had to be by 7:15am. I really had no time to sit and eat and had to leave on an empty stomach, couldn't even pick a fruit to take away. I really didn't expect that from them.

They are organised and everything is working! From entering the gate to the reception and to your room. Our flight was very early in the morning so we were unable to sit and have a breakfast, instead the staff at reception suggested we take the “take-away” breakfast option. The next morning our breakfast packages were ready to be collected at 05:00am from reception. When we arrived at the airport we easily got through the security gates there, they allowed food. In the airplane when we opened the packages, oh my goodness !!! We both found the most delicious food in there, croissants, peaches, an apple, bottled water, muesli, yogurt, healthy snack bar, a chocolate , fruit juice, small Simba chip pack and a blueberry muffin!!!!

The whole hotel is very big, but you dont feel it as there are many little houses. In fact, we really enjoyed taking some steps in the guarded area. Hotel Shuttle to and from airport is reliable and comfortable, however be aware that it is only free in the afternoon. I would really say that the strength of the hotel is service. We had to visit a doctor early in the morning and the reception staff assisted us in a very fast, uncomplicated manner. Spontaneous prolongation was also not an issue. Thank you again!

The carpet floor in the room does not seem tidy, as feet get dark when walking over it. We didn't like the breakfast buffet, but there seems to be another option for breakfast in the Café.

The staff at this hotel are excellent, they could not do enough for you, I had a problem with my airline luggage being lost in Rwanda, staff member Portia tried her best for me to try and recover my lost bag before I had to return to Australia, when returning to OT Airport my bag had been returned, I will never know if Portia organised this , but she was amazing in her help she gave me. Great value for money, wonderful Restaurant , great Breakfast, and free shuttle to the airport.

Helpful friendly staff, spacious rooms, bed very comfortable. Loved that there was power/a generator! My partner could work on his laptop uninterrupted. The WiFi is fast, good signal in the room. Thanks for the little body wash etc, I ran out near the end of the stay, they were a life saver. So great to have a fridge to keep our yoghurt and cheese snacks in. Hairdryer and iron were both useful. It's great to have so many options for lighting within the room. When the plugs tripped maintenance came almost immediately after ringing reception to sort it out. Loved BC Cafe. Loved The Grill, amazing food and service!! Convenient location. The price per night is well worth it when you are paying pounds.

Very small things, the toilet seemed not to be clean, even after the cleaning, maybe the cleaning product was not so adequate? The aircon may need a service, it blows really too cold and too high fan on the lowest setting and it's really loud. The TV channels, it must be the cheapest package, was not great to watch.

Massive property. The rooms are accessible from outside and the Shuttle buses are available to ferry passengers to and from the reception. The rooms are peaceful and clean. The air-cons come in handy on chilled weather. I’d recommend it for someone who wants to stay in the city as it is situated closer to OR Tambo.

Don’t take your luggage out when you arrive at reception Like we did / had to take it back to the car as you have to drive to your room/chalet. The security at the gate could advise guests about this.

The facility was so refreshing. The rooms are really comfortable the bed iyhoooo the pillows my God. Words aren't enough to explain. And the breakfast buffet was out of this world.

The cleaners when cleaning and replacing things they don't or didn't replace new towels in time. So while we were sleeping that guy came knocking roughly like someone is chasing him then my husband eventually woke up to open, he said he was just replacing the towel, hawu mara why didn't he replace around 2 o'clock or why don't he knock patiently so to hear our response. That's the only part, otherwise everything was excellent
