Epoque Hotel - Relais & Chateaux

The helpfulness of both concierges on duty during my stay was exceptional. All staff were helpful and responded to my every request. The young woman in the spa did a very good body scrub and massage. I liked being in a quiet corner of the City and next to the park yet it was far (a little over a mile) from the historic part of town.

I had three breakfasts at the hotel (not included in the room price) and didn’t think the breakfast was a good value. With the first, I thought I was getting poached eggs and sautéed mushrooms on toast. The toast had a very sweet mushroom type spread which I did not like at all. Next time I ordered an omelet and asked for toast with it. The omelet was good but I was charged extra for the toast. The third time I ordered the yogurt, which came with homemade granola and fruit. That was good.

While the breakfast is a la carte all of the dishes were delightful. I highly recommend the homemade butter and honey with bread. make sure to ask for the bread to be heated up otherwise it is not nearly as special, same with the butter. The staff was very friendly and always offering help or inquiring on my comfort. I walked the entire time I was there and had zero issues. If you're obese, you may not feel the same. Good news is, if you are obese, they have an excellent gym for you to shred your extra layer of fat which I used every day while I was staying there.

The fact that they actually charge your card at the time of the check-in with a random amount of money , made us feel quite uncomfortable. It made us feel as if we were not trustworthy customers. It never happened before to us at any hotel we’ve ever stayed. This would be the only reason we would not go back there, otherwise everything was great.

We came from Malta and had a lovely two night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is gorgeous and beautifully maintained. The restaurant and wine list are fantastic. All of the staff were genuinely friendly which made our stay a delight. Costi is a huge asset to Hotel Epoque. In addition to his warmth, he turned me on to the Carastelec Carassia Blanc de Blancs and the Davino Purpura Valahica Feteascà Neagrà. It was truly a pleasure to see him each day. Prior to our arrrival Razvan was very helpful in ensuring we had the room best suited to our stay. My husband snores like a fiend, so we chose an Executive Suite with sofa bed. There is an actual wall and door in between the bedroom and living room so I had an escape pod during our romantic getaway. :-D Florin, at Reception, was fabulous regarding our questions about both the Romanian Athenaeum and our post-Bucharest train travel plans. Catalin is a joy at breakfast, professional and always smiling. Again, the entire Hotel Epoque team was tremendous. We can’t wait to return to Hotel Epoque, thank you!

This is an amazingly restored Relais & Chateaux property, brought to modern leisure standards, excellently located in a quiet enclave close to Parc Cismigiu. The beauty of the building, its imposing presence scales down to the intimate interior of the lobby and an Art Deco Bar area. Rooms feel equally intimate and posh. Restaurant L’Artiste might be the best in Bucharest, with adapted Romanian ingredients to a French sensitivity, all in a stellar milieu. This is my family third stay at the hotel in 6 months and we cannot wait to come back.

I love the decor and the restaurant menu.

The staffs are not on the same page about the product served at the hotel. I was great at the check-in with an offer of wine or champagne. I chose the wine, which was a Romanian wine. I liked that wine, and I asked if they have at the bar; I was told yes but only the bottle. Later I went to the bar after 15 minutes of waiting for the barman to show up and told me he didn't have that wine for sale at the bar and was only offered at the check-in; disappointed, I just left. By the way, the wine's name is Millenium

We spent our last few days of our honeymoon here and wanted something special, which we got. We were in a junior suite which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The spa was very good for its size. Massage was great. The hotel reception was great in helping us find tables with short notice at the most popular restaurants. Fantastic drinks in the bar, the best we had in Romania. Restaurant is also very good with a good portion size (in many other places it was difficult to eat both a starter and a main course, here it is possible). The best duck we had! Overall they had fantastic service both for hotel and restaurant.

It would've been convenient to be able to add breakfast though booking.com, but I guess it is tricky since it is an ala carte breakfast.

I really like this hotel, I first stayed about 10 years ago for work and have been wanting to go back since. It's a really cool building from the outside and the surrounding area is nice, just a short walk from Cismigu Gardens. The staff are friendly and professional and the spa area is lovely, my kids really enjoyed the pool. We were given a glass of sparkling wine on arrival which I thought was a really nice touch. The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to have some English language channels on the TV. I would definitely stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

We booked a suite with a terrace & were not disappointed, it was luxurious & quiet with great views around the city. The hotel is everything it states and some, attention to detail is evident everywhere. We slept soundly & the bed was extremely comfortable. Like all hotels the menu reflected the status & as lovely as it was, we also wanted to experience Romanian food in a nearby restaurant. If we had longer we would have found our way to the old town which was good 10/15 minute walk away but I cannot take anything away from this hotel for luxury & elegance. Strongly recommend for a base to visit the beautiful city of Bucharest.

Just wish it was a little closer (walking distance) to the main old town but this is easily rectified by taking a taxi.

The whole place was beautiful and staff very welcoming. Small entrance area, but superbly done - modern with a little glitz - and you could have sat at the bar area no trouble for hours. Location was very central if you are on a business trip or want to visit the center of Bucharest. Breakfast was delicious! and the breakfast nook, again gorgeous and a bit modern with touch of glitz. I'd highly recommend and definitely stay again.
