Cook's Lookout Motel

The staff were so lovely and friendly, the view from my room was outstanding and the room was very comfy. Loved the pool, had a fabulous morning beside it with my book. The location was great, close enough to town to enjoy the restaurants and bars, ferry to Russell and shops but far enough away from the maddening crowd. Very quiet.

The pool needs a bit of attention once the tourist market picks up. A lot of accommodation providers in Northland have been completely empty for the last year and they are just keeping their heads above water with nothing left to upgrade anything. We need to sympathise and support them if we want these business to survive for our long term enjoyment.

The view was INCREDIBLE - even on a rainy day. The driveway is long and step so the hotel has a very elevated outlook. The hosts were very friendly and approachable. We enjoyed out conversations with them and they made us feel very welcome. They happily loaned us a few dvds from their extensive collection which helped entertain our kids during a rainy day. The size of our unit was very generous and the rooms were well laid out and nicely furnished. Having a pool (although unheated) was an extra bonus.

We had a few old spiderwebs in the corners of the rooms and there was a long-term collection of dust in some places. We did find a piece of cracker under the bedside table and a bottle lid under the dining table. Not the end of the world though.

Loved the view from Unit 3. We really appreciated the privacy and peace and quiet. That was exceptional. Great hosts. And grateful to have a kitchen and cooking facilities

Dated decor for the price. My daughter staying in a motel in Paihia. Modern and cheaper. Couch covered with a blanket because the surface is peeling off. My great granddaughter said it was old

The hosts were so friendly and helpful and made us feel right at home as well as our puppy. The rooms were really nice and clean and there was excellent utensils in the kitchen far more than anywhere else I have stayed.

I thought everything was great and I only have a suggestion. The bed spread, coach cover, and curtains made the room feel a bit dated, by just adding a new fresh bed spread I think it would really lift the place but otherwise it was perfect.

Our hosts Shela and Norm were most welcoming and helpful with local knowledge and advice,. Shela even drove us to the start of a walk along the river. Very many thanks to you both for a super stay. Allan and Jayne

the location was just outside of paihia but only a short drive to the town centre. the view from the motel was phenomenal and breath taking. the owners were super nice and friendly.

personally I like mattresses more on the firm end which is normally hard to come by at motels. the shampoo/conditioner were in small packets and were not the quality so I'd bring my own next time.

Beautiful views and location. Paihia is in such a beautiful part of New Zealand. Norm and Shelagh were most welcoming. After the whole world has been locked down it was so nice to visit such a friendly and accommodating motel. Would definitely return.

The reception on arrival was absolutely just what you needed at short notice. Friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome.

No comment, just thoroughly enjoyed the time and was told the room was available for another two nights without having to ask. It was unreal. My daughter, grand daughter and grandfur baby were very comfortable and felt safe, secure and most importantly, was made to feel very welcome.

We liked everything especially our hosts Norm and Shelagh. They both took time to show us round our apartment and explained where everything was and how things worked. the views across the bay and surrounding countryside were spectacular.

Beautiful location with magnificent view of sunrise over the mountains. Rooms were very clean and well maintained. Motel grounds were being worked on by owners but still remained unspoiled and beautiful. Waking each morning hearing the sound of Tui's and other bird species was priceless. Owners made us feel totally at home.
