Scenic Hotel Te Pania

We arrived late in the afternoon and had time to dump our things before running back out the door. That evening when we went to bed the bed had some sort of feathered mattress topper on it. It was extremely uncomfortable and had a horrible sleep. The next morning we went downstairs and spoke to the reception staff and they were so helpful. They went above and beyond to assist us. They ended up moving our room (upgrading us) to a higher level that had new beds without the mattress topper. We were originally on level 2 and were moved to level 5. The view from level 5 especially at sunrise is beautiful. The gym and pool located across the road which you have access to when staying there is fantastic especially the pools if you have kids with you. The hotel is walking distance to some fabulous places to eat and see. We will be back!

The location is great! It's right across the street from the beach. The views are best during the day. Unfortunately, at night, the view is blocked by glaring lights from the building across the street. The views go away on the lower floors. We were on the 5th floor. The dining room is nice, clean and modern. It offered a nice selection of meals and a decent bar. Staff were very attentive. The front desk staff was super friendly and went out of their way to assist the guests.

The bathroom was a bit dingy and there was a dirty fan grill right over the shower. Water condensation would drip off this grill onto my head while showering. Not pleasant. Bed was a bit lumpy Also didn't like that the elevators had no security features. They were right near the entrance and not in direct line of sight of the front desk. Most hotels have keycard security device on the elevators, but we were issued regular keys.

We stayed on the 4th floor which was great for the views. The bed was extremely comfortable. A good sized television with a very clear picture. The bed linen and towels were luxurious and of a higher standard than properties double the price. The staff at reception were extremely helpful and told us about the breakfast which was wonderful and well priced at $20 and $28 for a full breakfast cooked really well. I am extremely fussy with cleanliness and linen and this hotel was above most hotels we have stayed in at a lot higher price per night. The location is probably the best in Napier across the road from the hot pools and round the corner from the CBD. Restaurants are within walking distance also the beach is across the road. There is parking behind the hotel which seems a really safe and well lit up area to park your vehicle.

Great having access to the gym across the road, great facilities to be able to use, better than every other hotel I have stayed at. Good attentive service at check ina nd check out.

Rang me to question whether I had a coke from the mini bar, which I didn’t, but didn’t notice that I left my toilet bag in the bathroom and therefore ask whether they could courier this to me - at my cost would be fair as it was my mistake leaving it there.

Location was great, staff were really friendly. Made sure we were checked in good, made my daughter involved which made me heart warm ❤️

The staff in the restaurant told me I had to pay for my babies under 5, when I told him reception said they can eat for free, and i just have to pay for me. He then agreed because reception told me. I just felt uncomfortable after that and just went back to our room & ordered take out instead.

The breakfast in the dining room was excellent, amazing bacon! We dined in the Restaurant one night and ordered room service another night. The food was as good as you would get at any 5-star restaurant. The location of the Hotel is fantastic, a 5 minute walk and you’re in the centre of the CBD and yet it is a peacefully quiet place to stay. Straight across the road and you can access all the amenities on the Marine Parade. Great corner room with stunning views. The service was impeccable, such warm friendly staff. We will definitely be back, we loved it.

The view was straight out to the ocean. The bonus was the proximity to the Ocean Spa pools and Diner across the road. Close enough to walk into town in the evening for dinner and drinks. The in house restaurant was pretty busy but easy to walk to other venues. The Indian restaurant around the corner was great too.

There was plenty of parking and room for large buses however the luggage cart wasn't available due to the volume of guests arriving over Hawkes Bay Anniversary and Labour Weekend.

Given the circumstances of Cyclone Gabrielle and the power outage from the Tuesday of our stay to our check out on the Friday the Hotel did an exceptional job of making sure the needs of the hotel guests were met.

the amount charged for the meals during the power outage I understand that costs needed to be met but i think they were overpriced given the circumstances as the variety/quality just wasn't there.

The location was perfect for us to get together with family, it was close to restaurants, shops and the New Year celebrations especially the fireworks display. 👍🏻

On our second day we went out quite early and arrived back at midday to find Housekeeping had not been in, not a problem we were going out for lunch anyway. We were told by reception staff housekeeping would be in that afternoon. We got back from lunch at 4pm still no housekeeping done asked reception to bring milk and coffee cups up which they did happily. Housekeeping finally arrived at 5pm, I have to say it's a bit of a inconvenience if you want to take a shower, a nap or just relax. Other than that the room was comfortable and the view was great.

I love this hotel! This occassion i had an end room with front and side views out over the ocean and towards the port. The rooms are just awesome, bright, clean, really well serviced. The staff were OK about me having checkout a little later which allowed a Sunday morning bike ride and a shower before leaving for lunch.

Nothing, it's great. maybe a complimentary bottle of wine and some croissants and 40% discount next visit....just kidding. I have no complaints and would recommend the place to everyone...which I do.
