Hobson's Choice Motel

A fairly typical NZ motel room, similar to others as experienced by us on our (so far) near six week grand tour. Well equipped, but becoming slightly worn and dated. Not be best, but by no means the worst, and we would happily stay here again. A nice welcome upon check in - we were shown to the room (only a few places go to the trouble).

Very little, and certainly nothing to complain about. A bit out of town, but still walkable. Some road noise, but not unexpected given that the motel is by a main road (shutting the windows and using the aircon resolved that issue!)

We had arrived early at 11am and we couldn’t check in but the lady at reception was so kind to quickly get a room ready for us which we really appreciated! Everything was so perfect! Comfy beds, clean sheets and pillow. Room was a good size. Pool was a bonus it was the first thing we went to once we checked in. Location was a bang as well! Literally the town centre is 1min drive down the road. Definitely recommend to family and friends and definitely will be back.

Parking can be abit difficult in front of your room as other guests park along as well but there are other parking on site which was still ok and still close to our room. We stayed in Room 20 so wifi was difficult. It wasn’t really strong lost connection most of the times that we had to use our own data.

room was perfect for two people, had everything needed for a 1-night stay. was clean and smelt fresh, bed was comfortable. my son,daughterinlaw stayed there the following week with their 3 children and were pleased.👍👍

Only issue which is very minor and probably a oversight there were no towels in our bathroom upon arrival. As we were next to the laundry the lady in there came in and fixed the issue straight away and was very apologetic. So I classed this as nothing of a concern.👌👌

I love the property was really clean, spotless and had everything we needed. the staff was easy to approach and very helpful. I will defs come back to this motel if we ever visit dargaville again

Downside - was the wifi, it kept turning on and off from my end or maybe it was reachable or strong enough to where we were… I was in room 15 and it was really bad.. the signal wasn’t great too as I couldn’t use my data so was hoping to use the wifi but no.. it was really bad

Everything was everything and more. The staff and owners were extremely helpful. It made a refreshing weekend.

We would have liked breakfast but unfortunately, they stopped the offer now! Possibly because we could accommodate by making our own. Which was why we marked the above. Because it was our first time there and not knowing the system it would have been helpful to have let us know so that we could have brought food ourselves!

Room size was great and had everything we needed. Located just a short drive from where we were visiting which was ideal. Nice and clean.

The shower head wasn't very high so my tall partner found it a bit tricky to shower. Water pressure was great though! Also there was a gap under the door so when it was super windy there was a breeze coming in. Bed was a little bit hard.

The people running the place are exceptional. I felt welcome immediately and was sure I could ask for anything I needed at anytime. Husband and wife team doing an amazing job to the highest standards. I left feeling grateful I'd stayed. Absolutely awesome. They smiled the whole way through. Incredible....ten star review guys. Thank you so much. Oh...and the room was awesome 👌

Lovely greeting from the owner and personally shown through my accommodation. Clean, tidy presentation. Comfortable bed, beautiful new bathroom.

Although a very modern bathroom the furniture and flooring in the other rooms were dated and worn and the couch stained which made me reluctant to sit on it.

Really loved staying here. It was cozy, the beds were clean, sheets were fresh its actually one of the cleanest motels i have ever stayed in. And the host was great he even let us have family visits for as long as we wanted, and he didn't bother us once. Would absolutely stay there again, no doubt. It's definitely worth the money.

I have no complaints whatsoever this place is a great place to stay.

Very basic old style motel, but was suitable for our needs at the time but could do with some modern upgrade touches. Staff were friendly and room sufficient and reasonable at a lower price point.

Our Wifi reception was poor.Wifi kept on dropping out, but we may have been a long way from the modem router.
