Van der Valk hotel Veenendaal

Stunning property. Good amenities and very friendly staff.

Location. Hotel should consider adding a shuttle to/from Veenendaal de Klomp train station. We tried to get a taxi on Sunday and it wasn’t possible. So ended up having to walk to the hotel in 31 degree heat. If an on-demand shuttle can be arranged, this would beneficial. I also think a transfer option of a shuttle into the center of Veenendaal would be good. This will the town more accessible as the hotel is very far from this.

We were there for a wedding in a nearby location so we loved how the room had a huge full body mirror, a lot of space to get dressed, hang our clothes nicely, and spread all our accessories. It was decorated really nicely, neat and everything still new. The big window let a lot of natural light in. Furthermore, the wellness facilities were a fantastic way to relax and recover the next day! Online check in was also pretty handy to speed up the process, I was able to check in while on the way to the hotel.

There is room from improvement regarding cleanliness of the room (upon arrival) and although it was fantastic to have a Nespresso machine in the room, the coffee capsules themselves were not that great. But this is really to point something out, all positive points surpass these two small negative aspects.

Spa bath is wonderful for our room. The sauna and steam bath are pretty cool, there is also a little sink for foot baths. Breakfast is amazing with different eggs and salmon. We were happy that we did a good choice for new year for our dog to advoice the loude noise.

Disliked · I smell something strange on a green pillow likes old smell. For dinner, I ordered Gamba rice with saffron. It had a very nice taste but the rice was not well cooked. It would be perfect when the rice is well cooked for a few minutes more. Only 4 Gambas is too little in my point of view. That amount is too little for a high class hotel. Because the shell are not full for the mouth and only good for the view. The whole story, we very very enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

Comfortable, spacious rooms with modern amenities. Check In was quick and efficient with a very friendly person at the counter. She was helpful and genuine. The room great in every sense: tastefully furnished with all practical needs addressed, enough space to move around and store luggage, a safety box, etc. The room was clean and in good shape. Breakfast buffet has good quality options, from fresh fruits, yogurt, cereals to freshly made omelets (not made to order though), eggs, etc. Fresh squeezed orange juice was nice. Location is in an industrial area but very close to a train station (no train noise). Good or bad, depends on your perspective. Worked well for me on a one-day business trip, where efficiency was most important. Overall, a very comfortable stay with (almost) nothing to complain about.

A towel hook by the shower would be good.

The room was larger than I expected, with the bathroom in a corner of the sleeping area. I particularly loved the freestanding tub. Breakfast was on par with other big chains in the same price range, I'd say a little less varied that I would've liked, but overall pretty good.

Somehow big chain hotels have decided that it's okay to put duvets on beds all year long, with the idea that you'd regulate the room temperature to match, as a result we had to crank the AC during the night so we wouldn't sweat under the duvet. We asked for a different kind of blanket but they said they couldn't help us so 🤷‍♀️

A wonderful hotel with great facilities. The room was spacious, clean, and had all necessary facilities. The breakfast was wonderful - a huge selection of delicious food. Staff were very pleasant, courteous and helpful. I'd recommend it without any hesitation.

The bath/shower/washing area is not in an enclosed room - it feels like it's almost "open plan".

Basicly this hotel and room exceeded my expectations. The breakfast was also super nice.

Only 1 major thing I had to mention. For the bath, to prevent the spoiling of the water, there was an elevated part of the floor. During the night I almost felt because of it, it is really dangerous, it should be somehow gently illuminated, or changed. Otherwise somebody will fell over it, and sue the hotel :(

the property was conveniently located to the highway and had great facilities. we had dinner at the restaurant and they were able to quickly accommodate an adjustment in our reservations. the food came out quickly end everyone enjoyed their meals. staff was attentive. the breakfast buffet was more than sufficient and great value for the money.

We booked a wellness suite and it had a sauna, rain shower and steam cabin. Since at the moment those facilities were closed in the Netherlands due to covid measurements it was the perfect way to enjoy such wellness facilities. The room was very clean, neat and spacious. The staff was very kind, the hotel took covid and hygiene seriously and applied the measurements set up by the government. Not to mention free parking and even though there are only a few floors, since the hotel itself is above ground level, you'd have a nice view from your room. Enough towels are suppleid for the wellness room, and the Rituals amenities smelled delightful! The roomservice food we ordered for dinner was very tasty as well! They did have an option to have it delivered to your room for a fee. Due to everything that wasn't possible at the time, the comfort and relaxation it brought us was worth the pricy room!

Due to covid measurements the breakfast was a takeaway - even for suite guests. They didn't do delivery at the room for breakfast. At another Van der Valk they delivered breakfast for suite guests only. So that was an unexpected inconvenience. The infrared sauna wasn't that hot, just warm. It was nice and enjoyable nonetheless, but just not as expected. Finally, the Rituals amenities were only for one time/night? We had two nights, and the second time we got the 'normal' soaps which I found weird as the price per night was the same?

Modernly designed quality hotel; nice breakfast; location right next to highway, but without the noise from it in the room; underground parking at "-2" is crowded, while underground parking at "-1" was half empty

In the cotext of COVID-19, only 2 people can be transported by 2 lifts, which means that there is a long waiting time for the lift and the use of steep stairs is difficult...this measure should be reconsidered also in the cotext of the measure of not wearing a mask inside the hotel...
