Stadsvilla Mout Rotterdam-Schiedam

This was our first time in Schiedam and we liked it a lot. The property is in a very pleasant, quiet location within easy reach of all that Schiedam has to offer. The building itself is impressive, especially inside. Generally, the ambience and comfort levels were very high.

The kitchenette in our suite was poorly outfitted for cooking. There was not a single kitchen knife or cooking / serving spoon/ spatula. We managed with my Swiss Army knife and a 'can-do' attitude. There was also very little in the way of cupboard / closet space (we stayed four nights). The airconditioning was a nuisance (although we were on the top floor in July it was quite cool weatherwise)in that it was impossible to switch it off in the room. We had to get reception to turn it off each time (it came back on unbidden at 7,00 am each morning ).

This is a great hotel in a very nice location. It is close to Rotterdam and it is a very nice town. We really loved the hotel and the view and how close we were to all the shops. The is a huge mall nearby and lots of things in general to do. This is a very nice hotel and very cute. We will be back to stay here again! There is nothing that could have been better about this hotel. Everything was really on point! There is not one thing that we really did not like. This place is truly great, I count on other peoples reviews before booking a place so I thought i return the favor. So trust me, if you are looking at booking this hotel and you read this review, just book it.

Very clean and well appointed. Location on the Canal in the Historic Centre is really amazing. Walking distance from station and everything else. Classy building and room. Free Coffee and Tea etc. even if you don't have Breakfast there. Felt really privileged to stay there. Awesome quiet laid back feel right on the canal.

The air conditioning was controlled centrally and switched off at night. A fan was provided which did help but air conditioning would have been great, especially in the middle of summer.

Having been born and raised ~500 meters from this location, I felt at home immediately. The entrance, the ambience - it all breathes the atmosphere from the era, where Schiedam was still the center of jenever distillation and the harbour ("Lange Haven") still was actually used as such. Checkin rather late at night (Sorry you had to wait for us!) but nevertheless very friendly! Reception the next morning even better: friendly young man at the desk, helpful and good humoured. Superb! As this still is an old Dutch house (Or was rebuilt as such): MIND THE STAIRS! Yes, that's the way stairs were built back then - take care and all is well. (Hope our neighbour's backside recovered from his "descendance" - he won't be running down those stairs again) All in all: 9,9 out of 10 points!

A really minor issue: Why weren't the two (2! for 2 adults and 2 children) teabags we used replaced the next day? As we got back home later at night, we really would have loved a cup of tea - only to find, they weren't restocked.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was great, exactly what I was expecting. The mini-bar had local treats such as Gin made in Schiedam which was lovely. The canal view was gorgeous. We found it very romantic.

The air-conditioning, which I upgraded the room for, turned off around midnight, so that was upsetting seeing as the temperature was very hot that evening. Also, the elevator was broken, so we had to carry our (heavy) luggage up two flights of stairs. When we went down for breakfast (about 40mins before end time) almost all the egg and warm foods were gone and weren't replaced at all. That could have been better.

Perfect location, easy communication with the hotel, extra services can be booked ahead of the stay such as breakfast or bike rental, very nice staff members, also quite accomodating as they left us the option to take the breakfast in the suite due to personal issue without extra fee, the overall decoration very tasteful, the rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. I would definitely recommend the hotel!

Just a few details to make next guests' stay perfect: the bed lamps in the suite did not work well, they were on batteries and stayed lit only a minute before turning off. We could not turn off the suite's lights from the bed, the bin did not close well so if you have a meal in the room like us, it could smell a bit, and not sure there are recycling bins in the hotel. The shower was spacious but not easy to shower without leaving water drops on the floor in front of it. Breakfast is very good but portions were uneven from one day to the next.

Amazing experience from the moment of entering the front door until checking out and leaving. Easily accessible location by public transport and beautiful surroundings. Modern but friendly design, helpful and polite staff, all of them speaking English well. Delicious breakfast offering a great variety of options.

location! wow what a spot! tempted to leave a bad review so this gem of a hotel would be easy to book the next time I go, but that would be unfair to the wonderful staff.

Given its unique location, parking was not super easy, although we got lucky and got a spot really close to the entrance. More y friend’s room had climate issues, but my room was ok.

Forget hotels in Rotterdam, because towns like Schiedam and Maassluis are definitely the nice places to stay. Trains and metrotram will take to most locations in the Rotterdam and Europort. The city center of Schiedam is charming, looking like Amsterdam or Delft. The Stadsvilla Mout has a superb location on the channel in the very center of Schiedam, far from industrial facilities and modern blocks. We stayed on the upper floor. As the hotel is occupied the traditional Dutch canal house, it is narrow and high, and the stairs are very steep. These steep stairs might be an issue for elder persons. But we felt OK! The hotel is beautifully renovated and very stylish. The room (family suite) was charming, absolutely beautiful and cosy, especially that wooden attic with two separate pallette-style beds on casters. The kid was excited. The attic is locked tight with the special locks. The room is also well equipped with a kitchenette, a microwave, a dish washer, and a coffee machine. There was enough furniture for accommodation, eating, working and relaxing. The bathroom space is arranged a bit unusual but the bathroom is renovated and very clean. Staff is friendly and efficient. Will surely be back!

Sometimes the water is leaking from the shower cabin, but that is nothing, since the hotel and the room are beautiful

Quiet, very comfortable, great lovely staff, great view over the canal, public parking near the hotel, lovely beautiful neighborhood.

Heating by the air-condition did not work, but staff provided 2 radiators that did the work wonderfully. There were no electric outlets near the bed, only usb, but staff provided us an electric cable extender that did the trick
