Pelicano Inn Playa del Carmen - Beachfront Hotel

Staff at the fron desk is awesome. Very kind people (Azaleth y David). We also had a private balcony facing the garden which was very nice in the morning.

Very noisy room. There is a bar next to the hotel which has loudly music until late. Since the room (208) was above the reception, you can hear all the noise irrespectful guests make at any time. Despite the hotel has access to the beach, the beachfront is managed by different administration (restaurant) and they expect you to consume in order to make use of the facilities. Internet available only in common areas, is very poor and they have an issue between restaurant and reception networks because both have the same name but different passwords, so you have to forget every time, the network in order to connect properly.

Liked the quick access to beach, and the friendly Hotel staff

The waiters serving the breakfast and drinks during the day they did not put there mind to the task that they began and went on to do something else and forgot the first task, also did not like the constant music at loud level, need to tone down, its Ok to play some good songs but not the loud bass booming away.

Nice “greek” style construction, right at the beach. Good size room! Their sin? The finishes! Not good quality mattress and pillows, old towels, staff not well trained, cheap amenities! But we’re in downtown Playa, so let’s just enjoy it! We had the unfortunate weather! Algae on the beach when we got to Riviera maia and than, a category 1 Hurricane on our second night! The staff kept us safe, gave lunch boxes for breakfast and they cleaned 90% on the next morning! Good response! By the price I’ve got it, it was a bargain! Loved it!

shower spills everywhere, bathroom is outdated so it looks dirty. Room was spacious but a little moldy since it’s right on the beach As said, old mattress, pillows, towels and linens. Rude crew at the breakfast. No repeat on coffee and juice. Just one option of: omelete, burrito, mexican style eggs! Not bad, but could be better! Very bright in the morning cus the curtains are small and don’t cover the door/window A bit noisy during the night because its located right at the action with bars and clubs around

Didn’t have a pool , our shuttle was not allowed to drop us off or pick us up at the entrance of the hotel. Apparently you have to use their taxis or shuttles and they charge more since the hotel receives a commission. If you walk two blocks you can use a local shuttle or taxis and they are way less expensive.

Good for vacation

staff agreed to compensate me for a night I did not need but then back-tracked and offered credit rather than returning money to my credit card - this is not what we mutually agreed in the first place.

Staff are all wonderful. Nothing fancy, best location, so beautiful. Food was good too.

Maybe because of start of spring break. Bar next door was really loud and guest in next room were in the stairwell all night long. Older hotel, not as insulated from sound, pretty miserable last night. I would have rated our stay a 10 up until the last night. Hotel could have done something about the guest, for one it’s a non smoking facility, guest were smoking, fighting, drunk yelling at each other right in front of our door until 5:30 AM when we left.
