Hotel Portobelo

The location in Centro Historical Guadalajara was exactly where I wanted to be. I was able to walk to the historical areas to see what I wanted and find many options for restaurants. My room was clean, and the bed and sofa were very comfortable.

When I arrived home and checked my checking account, I was charged three different charges which totaled $211.40, and had another charge of 210.99 pending! For a combine total of $422.39. After talking with the hotel and sending them the receipts from my bank, the following day the $210.99 charge that was pending was deleted. But at this point, I'm still being billed for those 3 separate charges that total $211.40 for a three night stay that was to cost $188.99.

When I used Booking.com they promise a price match. I was alerted that Agoda listed the property for much less. I submitted a claim and it was determined to be valid and I would receive the lower price. I was told to send in a receipt and my claim would be processed. After I submitted my receipt, I received a new email about a need to submit the things I had already submitted and had approved. It may be Booking.coms fault but I paid nearly double the price, I was told I would need to pay. I have the email to prove my claims.

This is a clean, attractive, and comfortable hotel. I stayed 14 days and have nothing but praise for the hotel and its staff. It's a medium-size hotel with old-school politeness. They are respectful, professional, and eager to help. There is an underground metro train station immediately outside the hotel. It makes the hotel an excellent base to explore Guadalajara. They have a great 24-hour room service menu and the service and food are delicious and comforting. The 3rd and 4th floors are the best floors and have the best rooms and seemed to have been recently remodeled. I travel for work and will return.

I wish the room had a refrigerator and microwave. No Gym.

PBH is located about six blocks from the historic center of Guadalajara. It’s on a busy intersection but they have quiet rooms that face the courtyard. The location is very convenient for sightseeing. We went there for the annual Mariachi festival and we’re not disappointed. Staff went out of their way to find an English speaking driver for two trips away from the city.

No significant negatives.

The location is around 12 blocks away from the Catedral of Guadalajara, Teatro Degollado. They have room service, 24/7. Which coming late at 10.00 pm is a life saver. This weekend of 03/31/2023, around 9.00 pm. the city had a show with images, music, and narrative of Guadalajara, for free!!!! Something very surprising, and unexpected, it is sponsored by the City of Guadalajara.

The noise early in the morning, or late at night coming from the main Street Juarez Avenue.

I was greeted, and my information was taken. At no time was I told that in order to purchase services or meal, that i need to leave a credit card. So my surprise was that I ordered room service and it came with the bill for payment before delivery of the food. Just to let you know it wasn't the best experience. Also the food I ordered left a lot to be desired. A burger, extremely greasy, not even close to the pictures in the in the menu.

This place is wonderful! Hotel is modern, clean, and safe. The bed has a comfortable mattress, there is a coffee machine in the room. Room is super clean, modern, spacious, and shower has hot water and excellent water pressure. Staff is highly professional, polite, kind, honest, and attentive, and they made us feel welcome! The hotel's location is perfect! Downtown GDL is within a walking distance, so is the beautiful Templo Expiatorio, Chapultepec Ave, and many other great locations. The train station is outside the hotel. Wonderful, wonderful place!

The place is clean, modern, well maintained and has a restaurant and cocktail lounge. The food is good, the staff are all excellent. The bed was very comfortable..

The lighting in the rooms is a bit too low. In particular, the lighting in the bathroom is just terrible. So poor I found it difficult to shave and even harder to put my contact lenses in. This is weird, because it is actually obvious and an easy fix.
