HOTEL VILLA CALAKMUL

This place really is a nice surprise. Great place before or after visiting Calakmul in the jungle (2-2,5 hours by car to jungle). We spend one night before visiting Calakmul and the service was really nice, we could leave our backpacks in the reception during visiting Calakmul. We bought breakfast (there are three options) which was served above the apartment, on the terrace with roof, where we can hear loud singing of birds and feel the jungle. First day there was young men in the reception with really good English, the next day we met ladies with only Spanish, but also nice, when we used translator. The rooms are tidy and quite big, beds too and very comfortable. Air condition works good. Expectations weren't high, but I can totally recommend this place for one or two night.

Good spacious room and very clean! Two beds which was nice since they are small. Good and strong shower with hot water. Polite personnel, although we were received by the cleaning lady who really didn't speak any English but we managed with translate.

No fridge or anything, no glasses to pour water in. Bad wifi. As said in other reviews, the lights and everything are not really cosy. But given the price, fine! We locked the door when we left for a day away and the cleaning didn't relock it. Felt not safe (although the door can't be opened without a key even unlocked).

Walking distance to main shopping and food streets. Room was spacious and comfortable. Car park is a few steps away from most rooms' entrances so easy to carry luggage in. The hotel is well-maintained & clean, overall a more than satisfying stay!

The hotel knew of 3 people checking in but the room was equipped for 2 people as we walked in. Easy solve though, we went to the front desk to get more towels, blankets, water, etc. Coffee was a bit confusing, they charged us 5 pesos for our first coffee but didn't want to sell us a second cup. We asked again later and the price went up to 20 pesos a cup.

A good basecamp for Calakmul. 30min from the park entrance (from which you count 1h30 more to the ruins). Space for the care, 24/24 access, they can prepare good snacks to take away for the day of the excursion, even very early (we left at 5.30am). a sandwich and some fruits for 100 pesos. For the price, the hotel is very clean and confortable. The only thing that would "beat" it is to stay directly as the park entrance probably (slightly more expensive).

the accommodation was great for our stop in Xpujil before visiting Calakmul. the room was nice and quite to sleep and the staff friendly and helpful.

make sure to book the room with a toilet if you wanted (we ended up upgrading, then everything was fine) there were no mosquito nets, however there were no mosquitos, so maybe it’s different at another time of the year

Everything was really good, especially the staff and Jaime in particular, were extremely helpful and friendly and gave us great tips regarding the area (how best to visit the different Mayan archeological sites). David the son of the owner even took the time to take us to Hormiguero which is very much worth the bad road. Gerne wieder!

It would have been nice to have had individual reading lights instead of just the ceiling light (which was good and bright).

noise at night (dogs, birds, other animals), no reading lamps, bathroom not so nice, hot water pressure weak, basically none

Considering that Xpujil is far from being a tourist place (although the maya sites nearby are breathtaking) the hotel seems to be one of the best options there. Spacious room, quiet at night, hot water - all you can expect for the really nice price.

Small fridge and coffee option in the room would be highly appreciated.

Room / Hotel — spacious, clean, has everything you need for a basic sleeping experience. Safe and very sound proof for a good night’s rest. Wifi — worked well enough. Location — close to many good restaurants, as well as the Becan & Calakmul ruins.

Nothing, really, if you just expect to be able to sleep well. At the most, the shower pressure was very low, and only got warm but not hot, but you aren’t staying in the Ritz Carlton, so this was okay!:)

The hotel is in the center of the city, very convenient for reaching supermarkets, restaurants or the ADO station and it has parking. Calakmul Ruins is only 30 minutes by car. The staff is kind
