Miyako City Tokyo Takanawa

Location & access - just a 10 minute easy walk from shinagawa station (one train away from Haneda airport) where you can pick up JR Passes and get the bullet train. Close to a couple of convenience stores. Restaurants - some free snacks and drinks on site in the evening- they looked good in passing but we didn’t get anything. Close to the station and restaurants there. Staff - spoke English, were very polite and we were thankfully allowed to check in early as they had availability. Very grateful after a 14 hour flight! Express checkout. WiFi speed - 94mbps download, 127mbps upload in the bedroom. Seemed consistent. Breakfast - a mix of Japanese and continental style stuff - both hot and cold. Room looked quite small given the number of bedrooms but there was plenty of space when we went at 7:30am. Amenities - literally everything you could need toiletry wise, plus the Japanese pj / robe and slippers! Very fashionable! Bed / pillows - bed was against 1 wall - common in Japan and fine for us but might not be if one of you has mobility issues. I don’t remember if there was another room option without this that we didn’t pick, Mix of pillows, including some of the Japanese type with the beads, but if you don’t like that it seems you can just turn them over and it’s fine, Noise levels - fine Temperature - aircon in the room Shower - consistent pressure and temperature in a typical Japanese shower room. Had an odd window between the shower and the bedroom, but there was a blind, so that was fine! We won’t judge if you don’t! Overall comments - decent modern hotel with everything you need, in the perfect location after a long flight. Would stay again.

In Japan, size and space are a premium. However, traveling best represents the experience that provides insights into a destination. A hotel has many attributes, but the most important are price, service, location, cleanliness, and comfort. Miyako City represents a great value for the price. The rooms are typical in size for Japan and cozy. A breakfast option is recommended and provides a good breakfast to get started for the day. The location has two advantages: access to NRT airport via express with wifi access and a central location in the city near local attractions. The hotel is very clean and has some nuanced comforts. The heated toilet seat is amazing. The bathtub, while small, is deep enough to allow for relaxation. The noise levels are very low for a good night's sleep. All in all I stayed on my way to Bangkok and my return. I would stay here again.

Some travelers may find the room small; especially Westerners used to large, spacious rooms. However, this hotel is great and has many comforts for the single or couple traveling together.

The nearest station is Takanawa gateway station. I strongly recommend to avoid using this station and using Shinagawa station instead. It was so scary using a ghost station plus walking through the construction site which was very deserted.

Brand new hotel located close to Takanawa Gateway and Shinagawa (about 7 mins walk) stations. Lots of eating options and stores in / around Shinagawa station. Well laid out and decent sized room, very comfortable bed and bedding. Super clean. Nice bathroom amenities. Very good lighting in room with simple controls, unlike many hotels these days. Basic brekky, but does the job well enough without the temptation to over indulge. Good service from the staff. Good value, would certainly stay again.

If your room is at the front of the property you will hear occasional road noise, although it didn’t really bother me and I was there for 5 nights. Coffee at breakfast is super strong. Wish they’d invest in a machine that could offer latte or cappuccino options.

We were a family of 5 with three little children and the room was too small for all of us. I had to go to lobby and book a second room. They got me on the same floor but opposite sides of hallway. I love the large bathroom. The kids and I enjoyed walking back to the hotel after a long day and eating doughnuts/snacks and refreshments for free.

I didn't like how housekeeping would knock at 7:30a.m. and ask if I wanted my room cleaned. I had to tell her twice to come back at a later time. The location was not that great. No place to eat around the hotel. Had to walk to Shinagawa Station.

-About 9 to 10 minutes:Shinagawa Station, 6 minutes:Takanawa Gateway Station, 13 minutes:Lawson, 8 minutes:Graveyard of the 47 Ronin, 7 minutes:Sengakuji Station. -If you like trains(Shinkansen, JR, others), it's a good viewpoint. -Didn't hear noise from the street, construction or neighbors. -Check-in was quick. Since breakfast was included, we were given breakfast coupons. -Because it was raining, there's a plastic for your umbrella. -There were two alternating types of panini (ham and cheese, and tuna). -Breakfast menu: 3 types of cereals, assorted fruits, yogurt, fancy machine coffee, tea, water, herbal water, orange juice. brewed coffee container in another table. scrambled eggs, french fries, bacon and grilled salmon which appear every other day and replaced with grilled mackerel, boiled egg, sausage and cold-cut ham. alternating corn cream soup and onion soup. salad section with mixed lettuce, corn, egg, tuna salad, cottage cheese, boiled chicken and caponata. 2 types of bread. -Japanese section: pickled vegetables, pickled plum, wheat gluten ball, wakame, Japanese omelet, sauteed burdock root, miso soup, simmered Hijiki and vegetables, seasoned seaweed, natto, syoyu and sticky rice. -Outside of breakfast time (5 to 10 pm): coffee, tea, orange juice, original lemonade (blue), herbal water, some cookies, mini-donuts and cannelle. -We ate at 6:30 am with a handful of people. At 8 am, it's packed. -We got a deluxe twin room 7th floor corner, with a view of the construction/trains, 2 water bottles, 2 pairs of slippers, toilet amenities and towels. -Beds are comfortable. -43" 4K TV. Can watch Youtube. Has BBC and CNN channels, and local channels. -Many charging USB/regular outlets. -Very nice toilet! Vanity/bidet separate from shower/tub. -Liked the brand, Pola (in toilet). -Employees wore face masks. Many spoke English. All respectful and bowing. -Only 1 microwave at basement. See laundry machine status from TV.

This is a suggestion on the free panini. Maybe make it optional for people. And for people who like panini, maybe they can have more than one. I liked the panini. I wished I could get more than one.

Warm welcome from staff during check-in. Evening snack bar was nice. We had two rooms. One with twin beds and one with a queen bed. Small rooms but very functional. Light switches and chargers by beds. Bathroom was big for a Tokyo hotel. Didn't feel cramped at all. Bathtub was great. Very clean. Less than 10min walk, all flat, from Shinagawa Station. Convenience stores around. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nothing. We really liked staying at this hotel. Maybe the only thing to note is that there's not much to do in the area. You should definitely plan on transport to get to an area for activities or sightseeing.

The hotel is near to both Shinagawa station and Takanawa gateway station. If you are coming from narita airport you can stop at Shinagawa station and walk to the hotel. There’s a 7-11 nearby the direction towards Shinagawa station. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel look new and well maintain. The room is not big but equip with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The amenities provided are all of good quality. We booked 2 rooms for my family and the hotel was very nice to put us side by side. We had enjoyed our stay and will be back again.

Located between two stns along the main road, so a straight walk from the either end.. Very tasteful decor and a lovely, calm ambience. welcomed us. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was well equipped and fresh bottles of water, slippers, fresh nightwear, towels were left each day. The toiletries are of good quality and the bathroom is immaculately clean. Tasty snacks and non alcoholic beverages -hot and cold are available for free in the bar from 5pm-10pm. Coin operated laundry facilities with pre-loaded soap powder/conditioner are available. A microwave, vending machine are and ironing facilities are readily available too. Free Wifi has very good connection. A discount voucher is provided for a fresh buffet breakfast upon arrival.

The room size and layout didn't offer storage solutions for two people with large and multiple cases.

Second time in 6 months. This round was longer stay. Staff is helpful and they allowed us to check-in even though it was almost 2 hours early. The free drinks and snacks after 5pm is nice to have. They have one universal power outlet and USB charging for your phone at the bedside.

The hotel is near to Tanakawa gateway station but there is only mainly construction around it. Convenience stores are a fair bit of walking without much restaurants. It should be resolved by early 2025 when the big commercial development is completed. Prior to that your nearest place is Shinagawa.
