Hotel al Sotoportego

The staff were wonderful and made us feel looked after even when they weren't around. Both Luca and Tiziano were great, their recommendations spot on, and nothing was ever an inconvenience to them. The decor is classic Italian, just like in the photos. The location is incredible, especially for first timers, most landmarks being within a 15 min walk away, and very easy access from the airport (only 3 bridges between the Alilaguna stop and the hotel).

A word of warning yo the light sleepers - bring your earplugs and eye mask! You'll be staying in a beautiful yet modest historical building, in the very centre of one of the most touristy places on Earth, life starts early both inside and outside of the building, so keep that in mind and come ready.

This hotel is my favorite place I stayed while traveling around Italy for a few weeks. I arrived early intending just to leave my bags before check in, but Tiziano and his wonderful staff had my room ready and allowed me to check in early. He spent time reviewing a map with me with great recommendations for sites and restaurants - everywhere I went from their list was excellent. I walked everywhere in Venice from this hotel, the location is perfect. I had booked a regular room, but I had written in advance and asked if anything overlooking the canal became available to please let me know. The first night I was in the room I booked - which was also lovely, and despite having an internal view still got a good amount of light - but the next morning Tiziano informed me there had been a cancellation if I would like an upgrade - I could have happily stayed where I was, but the new room was unbeatable - gorgeous canal views, so spacious, with high ceilings and beautiful decor. So many thanks to Tiziano for an absolutely amazing experience in Venice, my only regret is that I had to leave.

Tiziano is just as helpful and passionate as everyone says! Utilize his recommendations and you will find yourself in delicious restaurants and enjoying the wonderful city of Venice. This hotel is a fantastic value and is comfortable while also having the original charm of Venice. It is not a luxury property but we loved the wonderful energy of the hotel and the gracious hosting by Tiziano. Thank you for having us!!

The water pressure in the shower was very light! I think it’s probably just the age of the building but maybe something could be adjusted.

This was a very pleasant surprise. The hotel staff was wonderful. Before we arrived they were very responsive on chat. Tiziano was so gracious and welcoming. We checked in early and he spent time with us almost every day mapping out what to see, marking it up on a map, explaining where to go and how to get there. He checked in with us periodically to see if we had any questions or issues. The room was spotless; the bathroom impeccably clean. Every day the staff left us bottles of water. One day they left a bottle of wine, another day, a box of biscotti. It was a very welcoming environment, and the room was very comfortable; large and spacious. The location was absolutely perfect - located just in the middle of everything we wanted to see. I highly recommend this hotel.

I would recommend to the hotel to provide more modern blankets.

Our stay had been nothing less than amazing! The room was surprisingly large, the check-in (we arrived at midnight) super simple-the key simply waited on the desk, the room was exceptionally clean throughout our entire stay, the location is amazinggggg-very central and all central places are easily reached by foot. And the cherry on the top? Tiziano!!! Tiziano was there for every question and for everything we needed. He even recommended exceptional restaurants in the area. Every recommendation in general was spot on and all was said and done with a huge and genuine smile and with true desire to help and assist. He was incredible. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Venice.

It was worth the stay for the view alone. We had the room overlooking the water, and gondolas were up and down all day. A few even sang! Highly recommended!! The room was comfortable, had a coffee machine and a few biscuits and an amazing AC! The staff was excellent. Communication about my stay was sent a few days in advance. When we arrived, we were given a map, a summary of the area and recommendations. Excellent recommendations, communication, and conversation They are on the second floor, and although they have a chair lift, nobody uses it. It's not really accessible.

The place is very clean and accessible to all shops and cafeterias. And Tiziano is the best host he helped us where to go, is very helpful and hospitable, and helped us carry 2 heavy luggages to get to our bus. Fantastic area, complete facilities, and Tiziano went above and beyond to make our stay hassle free. Thank you so much Tiziano for all the help and for being the most hospitable host. I will definitely come back again and again to this hotel. Fantastic service. The best hotel in italy in my experience. Grazie Grazie! :)

The canal view from the hotel was spectacular. Clean facilities and even complimentary water bottles in the mini fridge. The owner went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He gave detailed instructions on how to reach the hotel as well as suggestions on where to go. We were allowed to store our luggage for a little while before our next flight. You won’t regret staying here. Great location to walk to water transportation and tourist attractions.

- great location, close to historical cites and lively neighborhood of cannaregio - big room, overlooking the canal - nice, clean decor - nice details with coffee and proseco

- noise from construction / boats in the canal - no breakfast - bit expensive for what you get, but that is normal in venice - little hard to find at first, i think the address on booking is not corret. if you write the name of the hotel on google maps you'll find it
