Liberty Hotel

The hotel decor is lovely and the suites are well decorated and spacious. All the hotel staff are extremelyoo friendly and very helpful. Breakfast has a good selection too. The hotel has an agreement with one of the local beach resorts which makes it easy to travel to and from the beach for a reasonable fee (transport there and back plus use of sun loungers for 18 Euro pp). It takes about 15 mins to walk to the main streets of Catania ( Via Etna). Plenty of restaurants, shops and bars around there. Recommend getting train to the wonderful Syracuse, bus to Taormina and the historical walking tour around Catania..plus obviously an Etna tour - plenty to chose from. Bellini Park nearby is well worth walking round.

The streets in Catania and around the hotel are typical 'Italian streets' - cars parked on pavements, grubby, narrow, grafitti, crazy drivers.. but you get used to the chaos.

The staff are what make this hotel. They were so helpful to us. Any question was never a problem or issue, always a smile and very pleasant. Honestly speaking in all of the hotels I've been to around the world, these guys were phenomenal. The location is very near the centre, like 5 - 10 minutes walk which was great.

Not the fault of the hotel, and we knew this before coming, but the lack of a pool in the summer heat was a shame for us. It would have been great to cool down and relax by a pool in the summer after travelling around the city all day.

What a hidden gem, we stayed here for 2 nights and were greeted by Silvio - who is an asset to the hotel. He was so passionate about ensuring we knew the places we should visit and where we should eat, very knowledgeable and accommodating staff that take pride in their work. All staff took the time and care to ensure you had everything you needed, Salvatore was at recpetion the 2nd day and was also very welcoming and ensured we had everyhting we needed. The rooms have so much character and the hotel itself is like a time capsule. Check in and check out was so easy. Central to all city centre attractions, you can get everywhere by walking. Will stay here again 😀

Great hotel, super staff! There is free street parking - but my car was broken into over night. The repetion handled everything professionally, speedy and with great empathy.

Ask for a room with daylight

The breakfast was very good with a wide selection of continental elements and a wide selection of liquids/drinks. Ideally, the hot water could have been hotter for the pots of tea. You could request cappuccino, if preferred or in addition, scrambled egg and bacon was also available on request at no extra charge. The lounge and bar area was comfy for an aperitif or nightcap. All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, in fact they went out of their way to arrange things for us, and someone was available 24 hours a day.

The bathroom was a little small and awkward but of a good standard. Initially the surrounding streets were a little off putting but we soon realised that this was the nature of the city of Catania along with the crazy driving and the litter.

The Liberty Hotel provides old fashion exceptional service where you are genuinely treated as a guest. Sylvio and the other staff could not be more helpful and were available to attend to any issue day or night. For us this included a run down of the various points of interest in Catania and a dinner recommendation and booking made on our behalf. They A highlight is the wonderful buffet breakfast which provides a range of cereals, toast with a range of jams & honeys and other spreads, as well as a huge range of European breakfast style goodies such as pastries, cheeses and cold meats.

The Liberty Hotel exceeded all our expectations. We had been greatly inconvenienced by the Catania Airport fire and considered cancelling. After much effort to get to Catania from Prague the reception we received from Silvio at The Liberty made it all worthwhile. The Hotel is absolutely beautiful, well located and the staff are exemplary!! Out stress quickly disappeared as we settled in to The Liberty. Silvio and staff.... thankyou very much!!

Breakfast was served in the morning room next to the garden. It was continental breakfast but had everything you could wish for. Lovely food and lovely surroundings. Buffet style service and open until 10.30 means you don't have to be up at the crack of dawn. There is parking at the hotel for 2 cars only so book in advance if you can, the cost is 15 Euro's but worth it. The hotel only has 15 rooms so you are assured of excellent service. Lovely fixtures and fittings of a classical era with modern facilities. Our bedroom had a living room next to it so we had loads of space/room. A balcony helped us to just watch the world go by. The hotel is right in the central pedestrian area and could not have been better positioned. A true gem. The staff were so friendly and helped us without any problem. We visited Catania for 2 days, 1 night as we were actually staying in the south of Sicily. We did the right thing staying overnight. Mt Etna smoking away is clearly visible from the streets below while you have a drink and a meal in the evening air. Lovely. No problem in recommending.

Honestly cant think of a thing!!!

A very nice hotel with a very helpful and friendly staff. we were upgraded to a two room suite which was much more than expected. The hotel common rooms included the covered garden patio were also very nice. The hotel staff was very helpful in mapping out site seeing destinations, arranging for airport transportation and in making lunch and dinner recommendations. All in all, our three day stay was more than pleasant.

Comfortable, good sized room. Very clean. Excellent breakfast - good selection and generous amounts. Good location on edge of the Catania one way system - so out of the gridlock! Less than 5 mins to great restaurants, bars and shops. The real stand out was the excellent team running the hotel - they were thoughtful and knowledgeable, and super helpful.
