Staff was very nice, even ended up having drinks there one night! Large rooms, easy to use shower. Love that check-in was in a large book!! Close to everything we wanted to see on both sides of the river. Easily walkable.

Unfortunately no lift and many stairs - carry only what you need. No nearby parking lot, the street parking machine was broken and hard to find a spot to even unload, but that seems to be the case in Ireland. Hot water wasn't on in the morning but staff quickly turned it on once notified.

The staff were so helpful. Helped me with booking bus tickets and taxis. The food was really nice and we had 2 reasonably priced meals there which were delicious. (Gluten free toasted sandwich was the nicest I’ve had). The staff seem happy in their work and created a wonderful atmosphere.

I know a kettle in the bedroom was not promised on the website but I really did miss having a cup of tea first thing in the morning or having the freedom to make myself one any other time.

Nice location, Athlone is easy to reach by train and it's possible to take a river boat trip from there. The pub is beautiful, and the food was really good. Staff was nice, and the room was just what you need for a one night stay.

Nothing negative to signal. Maybe some inconvenience is that when the pub is closed, even in the early morning, there is no attending stuff (e.g. no way to get an early breakfast, and almost everything in town is closed until 9am). Considering that you are sleeping in rooms above a pub, that looks acceptable, though. In previous reviews I read complaints about noise, but for us the room was quiet and we slept well.

Great location close to all we needed to see and do. We loved the town and especially the Bastion Cafe nearby. The people in the town were great and helpful. We loved the whole vibe. Staying above the pub was handy, a new experience for all of us. The people working in the pub downstairs were awesome....the food and drinks were top notch.

Take earplugs! We could hear everything going on in the bathroom on the other side of the wall! Also, the shower stall was super small, hardly room for a normal sized person. I do understand it is an old building and that is probably not possible. This just a heads up to others looking at this property.

We arrived as a group of 3 at lunchtime on a friday and as soon as we entered the front door of the bar the hospitality, friendship and brilliant service from all the team of staff was first class. We had lunch which was lovely and after checking into our room the location of the Bailey came into its own as everything was within 5 mins walk. The rooms were spacious and over the 3 days we several times used the bar for food, drinks and a meeting point for more of our friends Everything was perfect and its a definate 10/10

Ideal location for a night out. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food smelt beautiful, however we had dinner reservations elsewhere but was nice pub. Beds are comfortable.

We had to ring for hot water to be put on but it was Not that big of deal. I would maybe suggest a kettle in the room for the next morning for a cuppa.

For a room directly above a popular pub/restaurant, I was surprised how quiet and peaceful it was. The staf from the was great and helpful.Nothing. The staf was very helpful and friendly. What more could you want?

I’m very easy to please, so my expectations were met. The location was right near everything we wanted to see and do.

Great value. Just the basics. If you just need a clean small room with a private bathroom this is perfect. Check in at the pub bar and entry to the rooms off to the side of the pub entrance. Staff was incredibly friendly. 3 single beds with great comforters.

Water pressure was a little low so showering was strategic. Not the best set up for women washing a lot of hair but saw numerous salons around the area.

the crew here is super epic. you walk in and literally are made to feel like family. these guys take care of their people. they understand if you’re not from there and don’t make you wear it in a negative light. don’t sleep on this spot y’all! i hope to be back so soon and sleep there and eat there and drink there. buy the gents a pint. they are totally worth it. thank you sam and paul d. for being so kind!!!!
