JW Marriott Hotel Kolkata

The pictures do not do this hotel justice. The staff, atmosphere, facilities and the collective staff of the Vintage Asia restaurant were excellent!!! I loved the bedroom and bathroom blinds, and the view from my room was perfect to capture the sunset. Special shout out to Chef Sumit, Manager Amar, Welcome lady Sreetama for being exceptional in ensuring I was comfortable and safe eating in the Vintage Asia restaurant after I explained my severe nut allergy. Your repeated words of ‘we are here to look after you” were reassuring and from the first bite of the dimsum, I was glad I stayed. Thank you everyone for making my stay so comfortable and perfect.

I had made a request for checkin at 1-2pm. At the reception counter, I got the standard answer that checkin time is 3pm. This sounds a bit rude. I am a Loyalty Member of Marriott Group, and it's after more than a year that I made request for room at 1-2 pm...just an hour early than the so called standard checkin time. But, then a staff member, Dhanjita intervened and I was given the room at 2pm. She was very understanding.

It's not that a few rooms are not available for early checkin. I think it's the attitude and general culture of Marriott Group not to accommodate guests even if the inventory indicates availability of cleaned up rooms. I think Marriott needs to put it's act together and have better control over its inventory to accommodate its trusted guests. Else, like me will drift away to other brands.

*****Ms.Dhanjita we would recommend 5star must and we prefer her name in 1st rank. She made our day awesome, mainly we came for birthday celebration for that she arrange a cake and glass of red wine. She is welcoming, she is very soft spoken and kind enough. This is our 1st time experience in JW Marriott kolkata and we enjoyed our stay very much because of Dhanjita. THANK YOU SO MUCH MS DHANJITA... Yasmin from front office also very kind hearted lady.. Mohammad Kalam from JW Kitchen very helpful and good gesture towards guest. Romeo from housekeeping was excellent, he did decoration for us. Thank you so much. We definitely visit again soon.

We had an extremely pleasant and memorable stay at JW Marriott, Kolkata. The weeklong stay starting Jan 23, 2023, was without a single glitch. Besides the great facilities and food, the hotel staff deserve a special mention for their attentiveness to our needs and their hospitality. We would like to specially mention Chahat who helped us in a smooth check in. Special mention is also deserved by Partha Pal and Sangay who managed all our needs at the dining., along with Ganesh, Robert, Karan and Surajit (the tea maker) at the dining. Robert and Karan made special dishes requested by us while Surajit’s tea was a hit. Ayan Roychowdhury of housekeeping did an excellent job in taking care of our needs. And of course, the grand welcome and warm send off by valet team, making it one our best hotel stay experiences. Thanks also to Malavika for her indulgence!

The property and of course the wonderful staff that made our stay a pleasurable one. Special mention Partha, Sangay, Amar, Bonni, Kalam and the entire team at the JW Kitchen even the ones behind the counters cooking up delicious fare. House keeping Anjali and the team and most definitely the reception team with Iram and the others and the concierge team as well. Could not fault any of the staff we interacted with. Thanks a lot for all you did to make our stay at the JW a memorable one. Keep up the great work you do to make us travelers feel welcomed. Cheers!

Maybe the fact that the pool was not heated. Otherwise all was perfect. Including the gym and the staff their were very helpful. Thanks.

We went there on 25th April'23 to celebrate our anniversary and it was a superb experience which also includes surprise anniversary cake on the house. Their hospitality, service, cleanliness, ambience, room, kitchen and food and overall the employees were super awesome. Especially we want to name Partha who is the Restaurant Manager. He himself can make a huge positive change in someone's stay. We alwsys felt like eating more and peacefully just because of his cordial behavior. Other staffs from kitchen and front desk was also just the BEST! Thank you Partha for making it more special with the tasty and yummy desert on the house as well. Ananna Das was really courteous and sweet to me. She made sure I was enjoying my stay and even checked up on me if everything was perfect. She even brought the cake for me freshly made by the chef Ms. Gungun.

For those people who like to keep the Bluetooth speaker with them make sure you travel with a small one. They don't allow big speakers or sometimes they don't allow any.

Visited for the Trade show held close to the Hotel (0.5km) + Great View + Comfortable Stay + Excellent Breakfast + Good choice of pillows offered for comfortable sleep + Lounge acess ; excellent snacks with chefs recommendations.

Loud music for weekend parties , could be heard till the 17th floor Suggestion : No drop to the fair ground...for the purpose of the stay.which i guess would be needed from each event held there...

The rooms were beautifully decorated and spacious. The private bathroom was as big as it gets with amazing shower and water pressure. Amenities were excellent. Their room service food was absolutely delicious. Their breakfast was amazing with sunlight coming through the glass ceiling. Breakfast had multiple cuisines including Continental, Indian and local delicacies and 3 live stations. Their Infinity restaurant beside the infinity pool was awesome with amazing staffs. Overall an amazing stay.

The check-in area did not have any place to sit. Their was a musty smell in the elevators and the common area of the floors. Location is a bit inconvenient to enjoy local attractions.

The hospitality was really great. They even gave us a cake for our anniversary celebration, despite not having prior notice apparently. They provided us with an upgrade to a double bed with a good view of the ITC Royal Bengal. The gingerbread house at the lobby was the main highlight and the smell was incredible! I loved the Christmas decor and tree. Very festive! I loved that they provided us with ample water bottles throughout our stay as well even when we were getting into our car! They even gave us early check in around 12pm and late check out at 1pm. This was the most dreamy staycation I've ever had!

I didn't like that the hotel provided used bottles of half finished body lotion with turmeric stains on it. I also had a fresh foot towel stained with turmeric. The kettle had a lose connection but the staff helped fix that. Mainly, we were disappointed that there isn't a smart TV in the room like we had in ITC Royal Bengal. This meant we couldn't watch YouTube, Netflix or Amazon Prime without mirror casting from our phone, which was a hassle, so we had to stick to basic cable channels. For a five star hotel, the TV and therefore entertainment experience was a big let down. Also, we were surprised to find mosquitoes on the 17th floor! At least they provided an all out plug in, so that was a good touch.
