ibis Bamberg Altstadt

I loved being five minutes' walk from the medieval Rathaus on the river. I loved the manners and kindness of the staff at this hotel. I loved being able to practise my German to request gluten-free rolls and being listened to patiently as I got a little better each day! Breakfast was delicious with a wide range of choices. I loved the room being spotlessly clean and soft towels in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. I was grateful for the lift after walking a long way each day, and it was lovely to be greeted by reception staff. Altogether, an excellent experience.

It was a shame that people are so noisy outside; but the hotel can't help that, and between midnight and 6am each night it was very peaceful. I found it difficult to adjust the shower to face down; but I think taller people hand-hold the shower head - I'm just not tall enough to reach it! I didn't like people smoking right outside the hotel entrance; but it's Germany, and far more people smoke in public.

Close to the city centre and accessible to almost everything

The bed is a little bit uncomfortable and the room has very thin walls you can hear people passing by on the small hallway when they talk and also on the street. We woke up at 4am to people talking on the road followed by people checking out early in the hallway. Very thin wall!

Close to sights and clean

No internet due to issues they had with rain. Not their fault but as it had been out a couple of weeks an email advising us would have been good so we could have done necessary work before we arrived.

Great location in the beautiful old part of the city. Nice room, clean and comfortable. Desk for laptop was a bonus. Staff were very friendly.

Limited hanging space for clothes.

Location is excellent. Short walk to centre. Nice to get rooms cleaned during our stay. This service is no longer given at Premier Inn in the UK so it was nice to get back to a refreshed room.

Bathroom Towels were a little thin. A second pillow would have been nice.

When I booked the hotel I was a bit skeptic about it. I read lots of reviews that the hotel is expensive for what they offer and that may be true but it was not so bad as I expected. We stayed only one night in Bamberg and we use it really only for sleeping. Despite the other reviews, our room (315) was big enough, the bad definitely tiny but ok. The bed was comfortable. We didn’t have breakfast so I can’t say anything about it and we didn’t parking place that the hotel offers (which according to other reviews is expensive). We parked by “Parkhaus Zentrum Süd/Schützenstraße” and it is just 4 min by walking and price was fine.

One night for 130€ without breakfast is kind of expensive. The holder of shower-head was broken so you have to hold it during showering.

Good location

Hotel check-in poorly organized. Parking in the garage is a good thing, but you should have been able to get directly to the room from there. Now check-in had to be done only after parking!

For us it was more than 2* more like 3 at least. It was a short stay but all was perfect. The issues with breakfast (no juice) were quickly and promptly corrected by the staff

We liked the location of the hotel and that there was a parking garage. The room was clean and quiet and breakfast very good.
