The Liberty's

Central and close to the station and a quaint hotel dating from 1807 - eight years before Waterloo. Downstairs there is an Irish pub with great staff and a live traditional Irish music session on the first Thursday of the month.

Despite the description, there is no hotel parking, just a public car park opposite which is free overnight but exorbitantly expensive in the day as it is a short term car park. We parked at a park and ride car park near the station. Both car parks have security cameras. There are lots of stairs but that reflects the age and character of the property.

I stayed at "The Liberty's" to avoid the high cost of staying in Lyon during the Festival of Lights. The parking was so convenient which is a must. And the train was right behind the hotel about 3 to 4 minutes away. My plan worked perfectly. The staff was so friendly and check in went perfect. The pub below my room was perfect. The bartender made some very delicious drinks. The atmosphere in the pub was really nice. The room was nice and clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very nice as well. I will for sure stay here in the future if I make it back to Lyon for another Light Festival in the future or to just visit the area again. I love those French Pastries and all the foods.

There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel. I was 100% pleased and happy with my stay. The only problem I had was that I had to leave.

The room was clean and had everything that we required. The bed was comfortable. It was good value for money.

We are both in our seventies and our room was on the third floor. To access it we had to climb a winding spiral staircase which was not ideal especially with luggage.

Good location. Very friendly staff and comfortable room. Great atmosphere in the bar downstairs and excellent food. Quirky building!

Room was quite small but it was a single room. Not luxurious but much more than I had expected for the price

Room was good for the money paid. Great location. Aircon. Comfy etc. All good!

I had a sofa bed in my room as well as a double wed which made it quite cramped.

The location was convenient for us, the room was clean and had everything we needed.

The worst thing was the pungent smell of cleaning, or rather the smell of fragrance

Staff was very friendly. Comfortable beds, great beers. Good location for traveling through.

The food was... okay. Not bad, but not really good either. The room was slightly noisy but that's more to blame on the guests then on the property.

Cozy room, no frills. The longer we were there the more I liked it. The bed was firm but comfortable. We brought in take out food and we were able to bring a carafe of wine from the downstairs pub up to our room. Room was very clean. Fresh towels everyday.

Location, the property and the staff were all fantastic. Our short stay was an absolute pleasure and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back and recommend to others. Superb all round!!!
