Chambres d'hôtes La Ferme du Grand Launay

Lovely rural location but close to a charming village and convenient for travelling through France enroute to the south. The room was large, with a vaulted ceiling, a comfortable bed and a huge bathroom. We could walk in the countryside from the door which was great as we were staying with our dog. In addition to our room there was a communal space with a fridge and freezer where we could put items of food and drink etc which was very useful. Our hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. A great choice of items. Homemade butter and jams etc. Plenty of very good coffee. Recommend.

The guesthouse is in a fabulous, quiet location - beautiful, by a river, great to walk the dog. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, made me feel very welccome. The bed was really comfortable and clean and the bathroom large and clean with a bath! (very welcome after long, tiring journey). The hosts had made efforts to accomodate my gluten free diet and there was salted butter at breakfast. It was nice to have a sitting out area by the room and a kettle in the room + access to a fridge. It was great to be able to have eggs for breakfast. I felt at home here - safe and at ease.

Small point - but curtains didn't cover the window, so let light in early.

Lovely in every respect. Wonderful aroma of the harvest going on, and the plants and trees all around. We also enjoyed the sounds of many birds and a good number of amorous frogs in the nearby chateau moat. About half way from Calais to the Dordogne it makes an ideal place to break the journey. The room was very spacious and charmingly decorated. Recommended.

The beds were rather too firm compared to what we are used to, but perfectly adequate for a one night stop-over. The bathroom was excellent but could do with somewhere to hang clothes up, a simple row of hooks perhaps. But the large bath was very welcome.

We stayed in the incredibly spacious Balzac Room with our dog (who was very warmly welcomed). The room is on the ground floor with its own entrance overlooking beautiful green fields. The room had a large bed plus 2 sofas that could be single beds, and a refridgerator. No TV , but adequate internet (after walking all day, who needs TV?). A wonderfully comfortable sleep waking to nothing but birdsong. Parking is no problem and, for our room, access was easy, though there were stairs to the bathroom (no issue for us, but may be an issue for some). The bathroom was large and had a huge tub! The old farm buildings are lovely and look like they have been part of the landscape for generations. Make sure to take time for an early morning walk through the stunning countryside to work up an appetite for the home-made jams and yoghurt. In rural France we've paid more for a lot less. We stayed one night, but wished we had planned for at least one more.

Finding the place through the winding country roads was a bit of a challenge, but your patience is amply rewarded.

The host could not have been more friendly, helpful and kind. We particularly appreciated her flexibility when our plans changed due to the uncertainties that can arise when travelling in a vintage car. The peacefulness of the location was also a great bonus during several days of hectic old car activities.

Breakfast was just perfect. We got homemade yoghurrt, gorgeous bread and local cheese and coffee was just delicious.

We arrived on a monday and there were no local restaurants open. We travelled around for about an hour looking for somewhere open and ended up in a McDonalds near Tour! Bring a picnic if staying on Monday as there are little places to sit out around the property.

Warm welcome, good breakfast, delightful host - and we had the company of one of the family hens as we ate our breakfast in the au vent!

The directions to the property which assumed that all French roads have names and that they are clearly signed! It didn't spoil our visit at all but made for a stressful time at the end of a long journey!!

Breakfast was good. Very rural, pretty location. We were just staying 1 night on our way from further south to Calais. It was a very hot day but hosts did their best trying to keep the room cool.

We got a bit lost trying to find the place but it is in a very remote location and the hosts were helpful on the phone.

I needed a quiet comfortable place to sleep on the way to spain with a safe parking for my car with lots of stuff in it and a good breakfeast. All this I found and a lot of charme as well and all for a good price. In particular: Very nice style of house of room. Ingredients of the breakfeast are of highest quality although it is not presented in a fancy way. What counts is quality: bio products, self made marmelades, amazing cheeses, good bread and much more.

If I would have known I would have asked them to program the heater time schedule in such a way as to have a bit warmer temperatures during the whole sleeping phase - we had a cozy warm room at our very late arrival (0:30) but later it was quite cold then and I had to dress my long wool underwear again and would have needed a bonnet. But I admit that I am very sensitive and I am sure they would have done that if I had asked.

Beautiful farmhouse with a lovely garden and a small swimming pool. The hosts were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. The room was spacious and comfortable with a big en suite bathroom.
