Hotel du Rempart

I loved it because it was old school, in a fast pace world that never slows down, we found this hotel a breath of fresh air. Yes its dated, but that's its charm and I hope it never changes. Its a piece of the past in the present. On reviews others have complained that its dated, needs work etc. But I dont think they are fully taking in where it is situated, the area is stunning. Your talking about Sancerre where one of the worlds best white wines is made. Everything about this trip was cultural, stunning, relaxing, award winning views and gave a huge slice of old style French charm. Down to the decor, staff, discotheque, food, views and location, it ticked every box. Anyone who appreciates simple, basic charm and appreciates a place that will take you back to a time that simply doesn't exist in many places anymore, will love this hotel. We will definitely stay again!

We didnt dislike anything, because it was kitch, old style, dated in a manner that made you smile. It has character!

The restaurant was at least as good as the reviews I'd seen, most of which rated it very highly. It was the reason I decided to stay at L'Hotel de Remparts (or du Rempart/s depending which sign you look at!). The best proper meal I had during my 2 weeks travelling around France, in fact, and at a good price. The location is good with views over the vineyards and a very short walk into the ancient town.

The decor looks overdue for refreshment. The plumbing & electrical systems don't seem 100% reliable (switches that turn lights on/off sometimes but not others, and the water cut off for 1/2 hour, then back on). Hopefully the building work going on next door will soon be finished and will enable the old part of the hotel to be renovated. It's a nice place anyway, and these minor issues wouldn't stop me staying there again.

location location location and an excellent restaurant. The dining area has undergone a make over and with quality food it’s a great place to eat.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are very tired and badly in need of renovation! Down stairs there is bar/discotheque still playing 70s music that they always have but expect noise from revellers until 3am!

Great hotel and location. Really friendly staff, upgraded to a room with an incredible view over endless vineyards.

The a/c in the room didn’t work as it should and was erratic, leading to a fairly hot night’s sleep

Loved the location with amazing view of vineyards. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and excellent value for money. We had some lovely local white wine and were able to visit the producer and buy some the next day.

Nothing. Old Hotel but with character.

The location is perfect. Staff is really very friendly. Now with Covid-19, things are a bit different as there is hardly any contact. I have been in this hotel many times, and without viruses it s really nice to have a drink or dinner on the terrace. Kitchen is good, nice food. They do serve breakfast and dinner in the room which is very nice.

Its a charming old hotel, I do think it could use some paint and new curtains in the rooms.

Didn't have breakfast. Wonderful location . We had luck with parking. One of the best things was the restaurant was open late. Very friendly people.

I imagine that parking close by would be a problem in high season.

Very well situated in Sancerre, simple but clean hotel, free parking right next to it. Welcoming, friendly and helpful staff! The Restaurant is absolutely amazing, no need to wander further for dinner. Great view from the terrace, including sunset - will most likely be back!
