Hotel Restaurant Le Lion d'Or

Lovely front of house service from Julie who couldn't do enough for us. We were running late due to cycling in during heat wave and Julue reassured us that everything would be fine even though our expected arrival time was after last orders in the restaurant. The chef waited for us to arrive and we had the mist delicious meal. Room was spacious and had everything we needed. Breakfast hadceverythingvwe neded. Would recommend this hotel if you are in the area.

A minor point but worth mentioning. Someone in their wisdom thought pale beige carpets in the bedroom would be nice and I'm sure for the first week they were. Sadly the carpet had a number of dark marks on it which marred my initial impression of the room. The grey/white carpet in the hallway is a far more practical solution and would have complemented the room.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Julie. They let me check in early and upgraded my room. The garage at the back was perfect for securing my bike. This has been the best accommodation I've stayed at on my 1 week bike trip. The breakfast is well worth having with a great selection. I would highly recommend staying here. In fact I wish I had stayed two nights here and cycled to Mont Saint Michel for the day as it is only 2 hours away by bike.

A lovely hotel in a very random small town. Comfortable beds although our room was facing the road and a tad noisy, but we just put the outer shutters down. Breakfast was lovely, and fine dining dinner which I wasn't expecting, but, was very very nice! I wouldn't stay in the town again unless on a cycle trip (we were cycling the Petit Tour De Manche), but bikes stored in a garage - yes, it was open, but, we locked our bikes up in the garage and they were secure enough for us.

The team were very helpful. We arrived before the hotel was open and were going to park our bikes around the back. However a member of the team saw us and let us put our bikes in the garage and check in early. This was greatly appreciated and reflects a good service ethos. The room was modern, clean and well equipped (although not really sure what we got for the extra ‘superior’). Breakfast and dinner were both amazing and good value.

A kettle with some tea and coffee in the room would have been nice but that’s a very English thing!

The most outstanding feature of this hotel for us was the restaurant. Limited menu but excellent. The chef even kindly agreed to leave a little rhubarb for me to have with breakfast the next morning. The breakfast buffet was also very good. The 'superior' room had a recently renovated bathroom and comfortable bed. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the bike route we were following - secure storage was provided.

All very nice - perhaps some outdoor seating in the garden would have been nice but the weather was quite unpredictable when we visited to keeping the tables under cover next to the hotel (and car park) maybe made sense

Everything was fantastic, the location was great and the hotel was exceptionally clean. The garden and terrace were lovely and peaceful, great to sit in the sun and relax. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. We had an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was absolutely fantastic, the chef cooked everything to perfection and we would highly recommend dining in while staying. We are hoping to move to this area of France, if we do we will certainly be booking in to dine at the restaurant!

We have nothing negative to say about the hotel or our stay there.

Very friendly helpful and efficient ! We definitely recommend. Very nice restaurant, good food and menu prepared with care. They offered to prepare something different for the kids even though we arrived quite late.

One of the two rooms was a bit noisy with the windows opened (minor). Prefer a room towards the parking if possible.

First impressions from the outside of the building are not great. But inside the rooms are bright and well-decorated. The evening dinner was very good. Small menu but well-presented and tasty food. Staff were helpful and polite.

The room was quiet but close to the kitchen ventilation so there were cooking smells.

Good location just on the edge of town. The hotel is clean and the rooms comfortable. Bathroom was spotless The restaurant food is excellent and very good value for money

The carpark and outside space needs a tidy up. It gives a bad impression to a very good hotel

This is an exceptional property with a beautiful lawn and garden area attached to a very classy hotel! the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The restaurant offered one of the BEST meals we’ve had in France! The chef is incredible and the food unbelievable! Julie was an exceptional hostess for the afternoon and evening. And Natalia was lovely and kind and very helpful! We didn’t want to leave!
