Hotel Vatel Bordeaux

Stay used to fill the one day gap between flight from BHX and joining Garonne cruise. Great way to see Bordeaux at your own pace.

Your directions to the hotel are completely wrong! You took us to their banker's address!! - a full 4 miles in the wrong direction. You then failed to find a taxi to correct the error, but charged us £24 for a taxi that we cancelled because they failed to confirm or appear. It took over 30 minutes to walk there with 3 cases and local temperatures at 34 degrees. We need to resolve this ASAP to prevent others suffering the same mistake. The hotel was chosen because it is close to the Quay du Chartron. You took us to 2 wrong commercial addresses right next door to the tourist office!!

Great location full os restaurants, just 15 minutes walking from the city center. The room was exceptional, most comfortable bed I've ever slept in a hotel. Very helpfull and kind staff.

The room must be totally clean, and it's not the case. For a Luxe Room (Suite) it supposed to be everything should totally ready for new guests. Although, there was lack of amenities (no hand wash), as also all shampoo and body wash bottles where empty. It was replaced but they should have done it before a guest arrive, not during the second day when the client claims about that. Also, room was clean 7/10, as windows were not so clean.

Having stayed in the centre of Boudreaux on previous occasions I loved being in a much quieter location. The hotel is just a couple of tram stops from the town centre or a pleasant walk along the waterfront and offers lots of different places to easily access such as the quirky art and antique shops around Notre Dame church area and the great market hall near the iconic Wine building. The hotel itself is very comfortable. Rooms are tastefully decorated, spacious and spotlessly clean.

Liked everything.

The hotel is perfectly located between the central city area and the Cité du Vin. Also easy to get and out of the city to visit the Chateaux. The tram line a few meters away was most helpful.  Our rooms were very comfortable and large with a very good shower! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We felt that there was great value for money and wouldn’t hesitate to visit again and to recommend the hotel to friends and family. 

Nothing was poor

The room was very large, including a seating area and a separate toilet (not inside the bathroom). There were plenty of towels and a large shower, with both a hand-held shower head and a rain shower. The breakfast was tasty and you could press your own fresh orange juice. The hotel provided us with a discount card for the nearby car park. The staff was friendly and helpful.

While the room was made up, the shower was not cleaned during our stay (2 nights). The breakfast room was quiet (not many guests), but there was a lot of staff passing through, sometimes with equipment (e.g. carts with crockery). This reduced the calmness of the atmosphere a bit.

The hotel is conveniently located across the road from a tram stop on the B line, and takes less than 10 minutes to reach the city centre. The rooms are spacious, very clean, air-conditioned and and have very comfortable beds. The bathrooms were also quite big (and very clean).

The selection for breakfast wasn’t very extensive.

It was a very good point that the bathtub, shower room and toilet were separate. The room was large and nice. Great location. It's convenient because there were many restaurants along the nearby river. It was a little disappointing that the hot water for tea at breakfast was lukewarm. The staff were very kind and helpful. We would love to come back to this hotel again.

The room was clean, spacious, and quiet, equipped with stylish furniture and comfortable beds. Service was great, they have been responsive even to last-minute requests. The breakfast was rich and with a great variety of food, chosen by the client the evening before. Hotel Vatel is located just near the Cite du Vin, and about 20 mins by walking from the city center. However, a tram stop located in 2 mins walking can take you to the city center. Overall, the cost/quality ratio was very positive.

My experience was perfect, with no even minor issues or negative aspects to report. If I had to make a suggestion to the hotel owners, in the future I would work on improving the design of the hall/reception.

The room was beautifully decorated and every fitting was carefully thought out for maximum appeal. The location was quiet, just off the main road. The tram provided easy access to the restaurants and shops of St. Pierre. Although we didn't have dinner in the hotel, the restaurant looked great with a lovely interior courtyard. The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful. This hotel is a real gem!

There was not a single thing wrong with the hotel.

The Vatel Hotel was definitely a pleasant surprise for me. I stayed there for 3 nights and really was more than satisfied. The process of check in from the reception was very good and the organization of the hotel excellent. Upon arrival they made sure to have fully organized everything a guest would need with a special breakfast card and a special guide for the city of Bordeaux. Apart from these, the observance of the measures for Covid was continuous throughout the hotel. Separate elevators for the ascent and descent from the rooms while the use of antiseptic liquid was present in all public areas of the hotel. The method of preparing breakfast and the choice to consume it in the room or in the special area was excellent, as this avoids exposing food to Covid. The room I stayed on the 4th floor was excellent. Spacious with many amenities and focused on ecology (Green label if I remember well). Also very close there was parking for the car, something that was very convenient. The hotel may not be right in the center of the city, but it is definitely very close and on foot one can easily and quickly find the main points. All staff were very polite and willing to serve. Really exemplary service and definitely recommended as a great choice for the city of Bordeaux.

It would be nice to have a wider variety of breakfast options, but this does not pose a problem.
