Rio Perdido Hotel & Thermal River

We had a wonderful week at Rio Perdido! The grounds are spectacular and the hotel does an incredible job integrating the facilities with nature. The bungalows are quite nice, with excellent lighting, air conditioning, and wi-fi. The indoor-outdoor dining facility is great. We were skeptical when we read reviews by others which said guests wouldn't go a day without seeing animals, but it was true. We saw troops of howler and capuchin monkeys every day, as well as birds, butterflies, iguanas, agouti, armadillos, and even an anteater. The activities are all excellent -- we especially loved the zipline canyon adventure and the river tubing. The food is quite good and there was a good assortment of cocktails. And the staff could not have been nicer and more responsive. We were so sad to leave and can't wait to go back!

The location is stunning, lovely staff, very good food, a lot of things to do and the yoga, tubing and the walk in the morning were great. The thermal rivers were unbelievable! It was my birthday and I got a lovely surprise in the room. Very attentive!

The rooms were very beautiful but less comfortable than expected (we stayed with 4 people in one room) and the minibar was empty besides water and coffee, the bathroom sink was unpractical for 4 people to put your stuff on, the lights in the rooms are not so good.

The Hotel is located in a large reserve with thermal waters, very good facilities and service. the thermal water river is the high point of the stay. Highly recommended. The only drawback is that it is a bit far from CR's main attractions but in any case there are a few parks close by, if you have a car. Also doing Yoga in a platform in the middle of the forest was magical. My only complaint is that they offer better rates at their site, which is happening often with Booking, suggest you look in their site and book directly with them (well let's see if Booking is not going to delete this part of my comments!).

Beautiful and diverse natural surroundings. Lovely bungalows with great amenities. Activity offerings and menu options of locally sourced food.

Not necessarily a dislike, but we were constantly checking our dining bill for accuracy due to items being charged to our room number incorrectly. I should note this typically occurred when dining with the two other couples we traveled with.

Beautiful setting, amazing wildlife, helpful and kind staff, fun activities.

There were many light options in the room but somehow it seemed dark at times (or hard to light certain areas). The spa prices seemed a bit overpriced.

Absolutely fantastic hotel & stay at Rio Perdido. It is such a tranquil hotel, amazing pools, walks & activities to do. The food & drinks are also amazing and the staff could not be more helpful or friendly. We LOVED our stay.

Paradise! We stayed in one of the east bungalows which were beautiful- hammocks on the veranda overlooking the jungle with monkeys! We also saw an armadillo in the foliage by our room. Beds were SO comfy, coffee machine in the rooms, lovely chocolates in the fridge for our arrival! Staff were so attentive and lovely and made you feel very special. Amazing hiking trails accessible from the hotel, loved the morning yoga sessions. we had wonderful food and cocktails! didn’t want to leave!

everything was perfect!

This was a to notch facility. Every detail was taken care of. When we arrived they had a table with cook drinks and cool towels for us as we checked in. The staff was very accommodating at all times. They knew I needed a glass of cool water by the pool before I could even ask. The river was amazing but a bit tricky to walk to.

Breakfast was great. The staff was incredibly friendly and all seemed genuinely grateful for the working experience. They sincerely seemed to like what they were doing and spoke very highly of the positive changes Rio Perdido brought to their area.

The food and drinks were excellent. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

We would have appreciated more information about hiking without a guide. I would love to be there once the construction of the new bungalows is complete.
