The Woolstore 1888 by Ovolo

Enjoyed my stay here before, so decided to book it again this time for a business trip and got a 'shoe box' room, which was compact as expected, but the high ceilings gave it quite a big feel! Enjoyed the included minibar (though it was not as extensive as my previous stay, but that's perfectly fine. The last time I'd stayed in a different room, the shower was open and I had made comment about how wet the rest of the bathroom got despite efforts to control the water flow, so I was very pleased to see my rooms shower had a glass panel to prevent that from happening again. The amenities were, of course, lovely and smelt great! And the bed was very comfortable. A nice touch was music already playing via Alexa - made it feel homely as soon as I entered after checking in. Even nicer a touch is the extra attention the front of house staff make to make the stay enjoyable from the get go. I appreciate the time they take to have you seated at the front desk to talk to you a bit and get you settled. Even though one needs to wait a little bit before being checked in, there are plenty of chairs to sit on in the foyer, and the staff are so great when dealing with you that it kind of makes the wait worthwhile. The front of house staff were truly exceptionally ans hospitable. I have family that I could stay with in Sydney, but I honestly think I'll just keep staying here on subsequent trips!

Small thing - I stayed two nights, and the bath mat was taken (and not replaced) prior to my second night. Perhaps this was intentional and in order to be green, which I wholeheartedly support. It was fortunate that I at least had a spare bath towel to utilise as a mat in its stead, but if it was not intentional, then I wanted to alert the staff of it.

Great location near Darling Harbour. Parking opposite hotel entrance is handy but expensive. We were in an accessible King room (not asked for but great space in foyer and in bathroom). No view to street but window overlooked lift shaft. Breakfast is vegetarian, but lots to choose from. Exceptional mini bar - 2 x beer; 2 x wine; 2 x Coke; 2 x waters; 1 x energy drink - all well consumed!

We did not get the Loot bag, which we had previously received, which was disappointing. Not sure if this was because we did not book direct. When I compared what I paid through Booking.com and direct, we would have saved $$ by booking direct as we could not use our Stay NSW voucher. I would also park in the Secure Parking Harris St and walk across road in future for cheaper parking (similar distance from hotel).

Helpful and cheerful staff. Very clean, quiet, and tidy premises with a restaurant .Lifts to rooms. Free lolly bar in the foyer. I was very happy to be upgraded to a king room. My room had a spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. The bed was very comfortable. A short walk to Darling Harbour, other meal options, theatre, and aquatic centre Free fireworks display every Saturday night at 9 pm in Darling Harbour was good, too.

Very minor, but I suggested to staff at the front desk that the room could do with some written instructions on how to access the television extra functions.

It was a last minute trip to Sydney and Woolshed 1888 certainly didn't disappoint. We were upgraded on check-in (amazing - this never happens to us), free mini bar, free lollies (needed!). The staff were fabulous - everything we needed was catered to (we needed to buy clothes for a function (we didn't pack well!) - the staff pointed us in the right direction, we needed to get to Olympic Park - the staff pointed us in the right direction, and we needed to type up a speech very last minute - the manager relinquished her laptop so we could type up a speech. Nothing was too much trouble. I can't wait to get back there.

I can't think of anything that could be improved.

The hotel had a lovely restaurant and lobby. The staff were great, friendly and helpful. I was there for my 40th birthday and they gifted me a handmade card and bottle of wine which was a nice touch. The room had personality and I liked the décor. Decent tram connection to the city and other transit services. Nice and quiet overall.

On our final night the air-conditioning broke. This was a problem because we were on the top floor of a renovated warehouse, in December, and boy was it was hot! However we reached an agreement with the staff and were compensated. Also, location is a bit 50/50. There's a good tram stop nearby but you need two trams to get to most places.

This hotel has a really nice ambience arising from the cool renovation design, which blends subtle lighting with the wealth of exposed brick and timber. The lobby is mostly bar/restaurant with minimal reception in your face, so it all feels nicely club-like. The small but comfortable bedroom enjoyed the same atmosphere, with the space well-used and practicality not sacrificed to fashion. For instance, I particularly liked the suspended bedside light switches - no touch screen glare in the dark thank you! The smart young staff, all charming, friendly, and attentive, added to the instantly welcoming vibe. I look forward to my next visit.

Easy access to hotel using public transport. Ideal location for access to Darling Harbour and Convention Centre. Despite being within walking distance of Darling Harbour restaurants and tourist attractions, the location was very quiet and restful. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful at all times. Quality of food at Mr Percy restaurant was excellent. The menus at Mr Percy restaurant were a surprise, since they were not the list of usual suspects. Food quality was excellent and the service was superb. The ambience was warm and inviting. The live music was just the right volume and did not detract from the dining experience. The free candy and popcorn bar was a great idea, Overall, a most enjoyable stay.

Couldn't find anything not to like about the Woolstore 1888. I would certainly recommend the property and would not hesitate to stay there again.

This is yet another building were they have spent a lot of time and money bring it back from the good old days and they have done an amazing job. Leaving enough so you know you are in an old wool store but also making it comfortable and relaxing. Free lolly bar now that is a first and yes we used it.

Can not find anything to put in here as the stay was well above what was expected, only bad point and it would be picking would be the size of the rooms which are on the smaller size (well ours was) but it didn't not take away from the experience.

Good people and the place is near harbour. Had some beer in the fridge. You can stay basically worry free.

Room very small with coarse wall surfaces. The free snacks tastes bad, would be better not to have them. Wifi slow. Disliked the taste of songs they played all the time. Did not provide quilts, only blanket, aircon is either too cold or spitting hot air ( in summer). Need to walk a footpath beside highway to get to almost anywhere. You could not imagine how hard it is to get to the nearest public transport with your luggage. Breakfast not good.

Good location if you want quick access to Darling Harbour via Pyrmont Bridge. The reception area looks great and trendy. The room was clean and the wifi worked well. We had a very nice Valentine's Day dinner at the hotel's restaurant Mister Percy. Oh and we enjoyed the free Haribos!

Our room was really very small and didn't quite match the fashionable flair of the reception area. Thankfully we were out and about most of our time in Sydney, so in the end, it wasn't really a big deal.
