We expected a room at a peaceful country inn and found ourselves at an amazing retreat center. With nobody else staying there that night, our family had the full access to the amazing library with not only thousands of books and hundreds of dvds but musical instruments, toys, a puppet theatre, pool table, sky observation room, and more, in addition to the lovely miniature horses and donkeys:) Our room was uniquely and creatively decorated and very clean. The surroundings were gorgeous and peaceful.

The wired internet connection didn't work for our iphones or chrome book. Would be great to provide more adapters... Everything else was amazing. Thank you!

So peaceful and relaxing. For me it was heaven and really wish we could have stayed longer. Room was very tastefully decorated, beds were very comfortable and everything was clean. At night we watched the fireflies dancing around and listened to the frogs saying hello. The next morning we sat out on the front porch and listened to nothing but birds singing and the occasional donkey. "Hee-Haw. We all went for the complimentary breakfast at Dean's Den about a mile down the road. Cute small diner and very nice people. I was surprised they offered a full breakfast of your choice and not just some generic, "this is all you get for the free breakfast". We all left full and smiling. If you are someone who can't live without Facebook or Google, this isn't the place for you! Remember, it is basically a farm so don't complain if you have leaf hoppers all over your car in the morning.

This is not a complaint, just a warning for potential visitors. At the entrance to the road the drive splits in 2. We stayed to the right to make a left turn to the diner not realizing how steep the left side of the drive was and bottomed out our Mazda6 hard. If you have a car either use the left drive for a left turn out or stay far right on the right side of the driveway then cut left.

The Mountain Quest Inn was a great place to stay for our time skiing in Snowshoe. The hotel is located about 40 minutes away, and was a very cozy place for the weekend. The Safari Room was well-decorated, and we enjoyed the great selection of DVDs and books in the common area. Plus, the property was gorgeous.

Everything is self check-in, so there isn't any interaction with the staff, which felt more like an Airbnb than an inn / hotel. That said, Alex (the innkeeper) was incredibly helpful before arriving on property - and everything was perfect in the room.

Good location on way to Snowshoe Resort. Way out in the country so it was quiet. Located on a farm property which was a beautiful setting. Staff/Owners were very pleasant and accommodating

This doesn't exactly qualify as a "didn't like" but there were (live) ladybugs all over our room. We happen to like ladybugs so we were careful not to step on them, but it was certainly unusual!! The decor in our room was a little busy but it was comfortable and the water was hot :) For a B&B, they didn't serve breakfast (covid??), so they gave us vouchers to a local breakfast place - Dean's Den where they pretty much made breakfast to order. We also had dinner the night before at Dean's Den, and I have to say the food was REALLY GOOD!! I had a burger cooked to perfection and my husband's beef tips were wonderful!

Breakfast made to order at Dean's Den was delicious, the down home, friendly service and ambiance fed our souls! We considered this trip an adventure, and it did not fail to surprise and charm us. Not knowing about Green Bank Observatory, the tour we were given entertained and enlightened us to much we did not know. The highlight of our trip was to have been riding the Cass steam railroad up to Bald Knob to view the fall show of colors. Mother Nature did not cooperate that day, as we reached the peak encased by cold mist and heavy fog, but again, the ride up was well narrated with the history and interesting mechanics of the steam locomotive still climbing that mountain to this day.

Covid has touched Mountain Quest, as it has everywhere. The hot tub was closed due to Covid. Several places in adjoining towns also were closed either temporarily, or permanently, due to Covid. Landlines were down at Mountain Quest. We were aware that the phones had not been working for several days, but we had hoped they would be restored by the time of our arrival. Management, too, was unhappy with the slow response from the phone company!

Our stay was a magical experience for both my husband and me. The serenity of the institute's location was ideal for many reasons. the library in and of itself was reason enough to enjoy our stay. Please extend our thanks and appreciation to Dean for his wonderful hospitality and meals. We truly hope that this inn remains as it is so we can visit often in the years to come! God bless you all and take care!

Absolutely loved this bed and breakfast! Slept like a baby all three nights. Quiet, peaceful and so relaxing! Exceeded our expectations. Beautiful setting. The library was awesome as well as the huge collection of movies. Enjoyed the pool table. The breakfast was outstanding. Definitely plan on returning.

Room decorated with space theme using furniture, paint, appliances, bedding, and towels. Unique, multi-floor library and rec room well furnished with DVDs, books, and games (and a piano). Breakfast was included at nearby cafe.

Lots of thick ice on the ground and some thin stuff on the wood deck that we had to walk on to get to our room. I’m not sure what more our host could have done, other than lay down a LOT of salt or brining solution. Just have to be really careful during winter.

We came to this location after our visit to the Cass Railroad. This place was so beautiful and unique. I was very thankful my children were able to experience the beauty of this location vs. an ordinary hotel stay. The library and game room were breath taking and kept us very entertained.

I truly have zero complains, it was an amazing experience!

It was beautifully located, in rolling hills with a picturesque barn and horses in the fields. Very peaceful and quiet and it has perhaps the biggest private library of DVDs I've seen.

There's no breakfast on Monday or Tues. You're on your own. There is no cell phone service and getting on the internet can be problematic. Some might say that that is a plus.
