Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Charleston

My wife and I travel on a motorcycle during the riding season as much as we can. Long weekend and sometimes weeks at a time. Generally speaking our stay is just one night at a location and we have stayed in a lot of hotel rooms from Maine to Tennessee. After a day of riding we are usually looking for a clean place to get a shower and recharge for the next day, so we're really looking for a good value. This room was clean, the shower was hot and had unusually good pressure and the bed was comfortable. The room also had a nice little desk and chair where I could sit with my tablet and do the next day's navigation. About 4 years ago we were in a hotel room and it seemed like the air conditioning system was not working properly, so I pulled out the air filter only to find it was packed full of dirt, dust and mold, about 1/2" thick. So much that when I cleaned it in the tub it plugged up the tub. Since I can't stand the idea that I could be breathing air like that, one thing I do in almost every room we stay, to tell me if the cleaning process is more than just superficial, is to pull out the AC / Heating filter to see what it looks like. To date, I have only found three properties that had, what I would consider, an acceptably clean air filter. This property was the third. Interestingly enough the second one that I found was also a Wyndham property. The two people working the front desk we're friendly, kind and accommodating. It was a very nice stay.

There was nothing we didn't like...it seem like a good value

Didn't have breakfast there because it was over by the time we got up. Room was great, quiet, very comfortable. Loved it!

The plugs by the desk were poorly placed and our cords kept falling out of the sockets. Also, the light switch in the bedroom turned off the clock, so it kept blinking. It also turned off the light (good) but with it the phone chargers on the light so our phones didn't get charged (we didn't realize it until the next day.

Easy access from highway. Front desk at check in was very pleasant and professional. Room was tidy and bed was comfortable.

The breakfast was very sparse. I had to ask for creamer and maple syrup. Not one person checked on the breakfast bar until I requested item or thereafter either. Some employees standing around Talking loudly while you’re trying to enjoy your morning and have breakfast, especially the maintenance worker. He talked a lot totally unrelated to any work. He was a happy guy, but still unnecessary. Although the room was tidy and the bed was comfortable the room is very small and it was fine because there was only two of us. So I would be fine staying there for the night but I would not stay there for more than one night.

We were traveling from VA. I called to see if we could check in a little early and they were very accommodating. The room was spacious and clean. It smelled clean too. The beds were comfortable a little more firm than I like but I could actually go to sleep. The shower was everything, amazing. Several choices for breakfast (continental) but they had a waffle maker 👍🏼. Friendly Staff 😀

You could hear some upstairs noise but nothing terrible.

Easy to get to. Right off interstate. Quiet and comfortable. Staff was super nice. Food options super close within walking distance. Will definitely be staying again next time we are in Charleston.

I wish there was a way to have breakfast, but I understand.. I do appreciate the bag breakfast option though.

Clean, nice staff, great price and location.

Our room was right next to storage room and there was a loud noise like a machine or something off and on all night. Also, this was a return trip and the bed was not as firm as our first stay the previous week. Mattress was very “bouncy” and soft. Had already settled in to ask for a room change.

The rooms were spacious, and the beds were very comfortable.  There was a Hardee’s right across the street.

The front desk person couldn’t be found for the first 10 minutes as we wanted to check in. The next morning we went to the front desk and two of us waited there for another five while she was out flirting with someone on the front portico.

This is a very clean, modern hotel. The three of us stayed in a suite with an open doorway between one bedroom and the living room. There was a TV in each room. TV and Wi-Fi worked well, and the bathrooms were fine.

The breakfast was a little disappointing. Without meat or eggs, it should be billed as a continental breakfast.

The Microtel is very clean and quiet. The bed is quite comfortable, although my wife thought it too firm.

Our room was very small; the designer maximized efficiency, working in amble lighting, device charging, and other features; I'm not sure the designer had Americans in mind when they did so. The room had a decidedly European feeling and decidedly European (read: small and cramped) size.

The location was fine. It was right off the highway on my way home so that was good. I didn't think much of the breakfast but it seemed to be the standard that you get at most hotels these days so I wasn't surprised. But the overall cleanliness and nice new feel of the room is what made it great.

The breakfast doesn't offer much. It seems to be the new industry standard now which is too bad.
