Hilton Norfolk The Main

The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. The public spaces were beautiful. Our room was spacious with a beautiful view. The coffee bar was wonderful. We ate at Saltine and Grain. Both restaurants served delicious food. We were even fortunate enough to watch fireworks from Grain.

One of the valet staff spoke impolitely to our bell hop in front of us. It was embarrassing to the young man to whom he was speaking as well as to us. We asked housekeeping for towels one day and did not get them. The front desk made sure we got them the next day after I called about it.

The pool was awesome. The view was magnificent. The staff, the artwork, the vibe of Grain, the location, ALL great!

Our stay would have been perfect if not for the absolute disaster it was to wait for the elevators. The elevator system is too slow for such a high capacity area with lots of foot traffic. I feel that should be one of the highest priorities of the hotel. It was the one thing all of the guests could be heard complaining about. That's such an inefficient inconvenience for an otherwise, wonder trip.

Lovely room overlooking the river (shame about the weather). Comfortable bed in a quiet clean room. Lovely shower with good water flow. Check in was quick and easy and staff were helpful and friendly, as were the valet staff and the concierge staff. The Varia restaurant is superb (including the cabaret singer) for dinner, and our servers - Harrison and Samuel - were delightful and efficient. Breakfast is also in the Varia restaurant and there was a wide selection to choose from. We loved this hotel and would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was nice and a nice location

I didn't like the fact that we couldn't have a late check out after spending $600 for one night We could at least had a late checkout. The staff was not very friendly It seemed like they didn't really want to wait on you especially the young lady that was at the front desk on Saturday doing check-in She seemed like she wanted to stay on the phone for about 30 minutes I don't even think she was talking to anybody to be honest she just didn't want to wait on us seem very snooty

The room size was good, the view from the 19th floor was superb, excellent location near the riverfront. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Good linens and towels. Everyday housekeeping, very thorough. Welcoming and helpful staff. Public parkibg on site with good rates (13$ per day).

A bit lacking on amenities, I did expect more from a 5* Hilton hotel, like a makeup mirror in the room, creams and soaps, bathrobes, complimentary breakfast, and so on, that were absent.

I didn't like that it didn't have microwave. Had leftovers from restaurant that I couldn't heat up.

The view was great. Also the amenities of not having to leave hotel for food or entertainment was phenomenal.

The hotel was upscale with a quiet and clean environment. Staff was very attentive and friendly — they even laughed at my husband’s jokes. Drinks from the bar were spectacular. The room was stocked and clean. Everything was in working order. It was pretty much just like the photos on the website.

There was not much to complain about for a short stay and third party booking (we all know that nicer rooms are reserved for direct bookings with the hotel). Our room had a bit of wear on the furniture and carpet, but it was still acceptable. The 11th floor city view was nothing to be excited over. I’d definitely recommend more thorough dusting though.

I loved how the restaurants are in the actual hotel! The hotel is so up scale and fancy! Beautiful views and structures!

Breakfast needs to be until 10am. Gives people more time.

I went to celebrate my 40th birthday on a solo trip. Found the parking deck easily and walked right into this beautiful hotel straight to check in. Received a high floor on the 18th floor which I loved. Was welcomed with candy and birthday card and the wonderful view of the river. Enjoyed dinner at Varia. I enjoy my room night as well.

The staff was very nice. The lobby was very clean and gorgeous for pictures. I liked how they had 3 different restaurants and a café. They also had a pantry which was convenient.

It was my first time at the main and I wished the lady who checked us in would of told us that to get upstairs we needed to scan our card. I was very confused and it took us about 8 min to finally figure out the elevator and into our hotel room.
