Horse Creek Inn

You know that astringent feel of a corporate/chain hotel? Horse Creek Inn didn't have that, at all. It was a welcoming atmosphere, right down to Mr. Butters, one of the hotel's resident kitties, who helped me sign in. My room was sparkling clean, and had been recently painted. The breakfast was amazing--the kind where you want to take a nap after you've sampled everything they had to offer, from biscuits and gravy, fresh fruits, yogurts, hard boiled eggs, to juices, etc. The staff was wonderful, and the WiFi was fast. As for the price, it was less than 75% of what I have paid in the past for a chain hotel just up the road, possibly because there is no indoor pool or fitness room, but I required neither.

The assistant manager of the property checked us in. She was very nice and helpful. We have had several bad experiences with Booking.com. This trip was one of them. We had to make several changes with our reservation well before our travel dates. Booking.com confirmed the changes had been completed. However, at check-in, we had double the amount of rooms in our reservation than we were supposed to have because Booking.com did not notify the property although they confirmed the cancelations with me on our account and through email. But, the staff of Horsecreek Inn was very helpful and made our stay pleasant regardless of the issues because of Booking.com. THEN, there were issues with payment. The reservation on Booking.com states that payment will processed directly with the property. We had to pay for rooms with card other than the one used on the reservation. This should not have been an issue being that payment was dealt directly with property. But Booking.com would not allow property to charge our card. Luckily, the front desk let us check in and worked with the night audit to process everything correctly. We will definitely stay at Horsecreek Inn again. BUT will book directly with the property and will NOT be using Booking.com again in the future.

I liked that Booking.com did not require a credit card upon getting the reservation and doubly pleased when I arrived the hotel honored the rate provided at the time I secured a reservation. Now days that goes a long way in making and keeping satisfied customers coming back. The hotel was pleasant. I was roomed in a newly remodeled room and it was very clean, accommodating and comfortable.

Not that I did not like, but I would have re-arranged the table to the corner by the window and moved the fridge/microwave cabinet closer to the sink. There was not sufficient room to put a chair at the table between the bed and the table, but between the table and the dresser there was. The table would have been more accommodating in the other side of the dresser near the window as we could have moved the floor lamp over for more lighting.

Location, friendly staff, quiet, clean, large rooms. I was very comfortable. Nice grounds. Very good value for the price. There were a number of places nearby to eat or shop.

Concerned the side entrances did not lock at night and require a key card to get in. Security issue. While a little inconvenient, most hotels i have visited have auxiliary entrances locked at night to prevent unmonitored entry. This is the only issue I had. The hotel was very nice & I would stay there again when traveling to McCook.

The price was a bargain. The room was clean,the A/C worked fine, it was quiet ,the bed was comfortable, and the breakfast was better than expected.

The TV used Dish network and it showed "no signal". The TV probably just needed to be reconnected or whatever to correct it. Didn't report it because it wasn't a problem for us. The shower drain was slow. Neither issue affected our stay.

Forget alternative lodging out there, this place is an excellent value in the McCook area. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless with a microwave and small frig. in the Double Queen that my wife and Istayed in. The chocolates on the desk and the fancy toiletries are a nice touch. Families will like the Vanity separate from the toilet and tub. There is a full offering at the Continental breakfast. We will be back in September.

There was nothing I did not like.

It has been maintained and updated nicely. The location was convenient.

I think it was an older property that had allowed smoking in their rooms. I have a sensitive nose and detected residual smell. Also I think a previous guest might have microwaved a fish dinner. However I didn’t ask the front desk to do anything about it.

It was clean, quiet, and located along our route of travel.

They provide ice buckets but there are no ice machines to be found in either floor, and the only breakfast food available for those with gluten soy and dairy allergies was hard boiled eggs. No other protein. All carbs and all sugary foods.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Stayed in a basic suite style room that was spacious. We ended up staying an extra night.

The room needed a dusting and vacuuming. Nothing terrible but could tell it hadn’t been stayed in for a while. Had to ask staff for towels everyday.

The breakfast was far better than most other motels I've stayed in. Very clean and well-maintained breakfast area. The rooms are very comfortable and up to date and modern. I highly recommend staying here! A great value!
