Best Western Winchester Hotel

The location was fantastic. The staff were wonderful; our first room did not have a freezer section in the refrigerator so the manager upgraded us to a different room, but unfortunately it also had no freezer in the refrigerator. The manager then took our freezer packs for the night and kept them in the motel's freezer. The next morning, they were perfect. The breakfast was amazing - probably the best breakfast we have ever had at a motel! They had made scrambled eggs, sausage and biscuits; in addition they provided a multitude of other options including a huge treat of bakery items including Aussie Bites which were delicious.

Nothing to dislike. Everything was great!

This unique property appears to have been built in the 1960s, perhaps as an independent motel without a national-brand flag. But unlike many buildings of the era, this one has been recently updated thoroughly and tastefully with high-quality exterior finishes and interior furnishings. For the first time in my travels, I found no maintenance issues here. Although most hotels have converted their rooms to plank floors, which I prefer for hygiene reasons, I was not put off by the high-end commercial carpet in my room because housekeeping was obviously immaculate. The blond maple furniture with granite tops was thoughtfully designed for travelers. Even the fridge was behind a cabinet door. I could hang my clothes in an actual closet alcove rather than the typical chrome-tubing wall rack found in rooms at this price level. The vanity alcove was flooded with plenty of light and spacious granite counter featured a gleaming chrome designer faucet with an ADA-compliant single lever. The tub/toilet room included not only the usual ceiling light/exhaust fan combo, but a second downlight on a separate switch for a silent nightlight. Check-in/check-out was fast and easy, assisted by friendly and efficient staff. My overall lodging experience was similar to those I've had at hotels charging many times the price I paid here. After searching for years for the best route and lodging on an annual trip I make back east, I've finally found it!

Unlike its nearby competitors, this property is not easy-on/easy-off from I-64, and involves a 1-mile drive from the exit ramp on a couple busy Winchester thoroughfares. The hotel is shoehorned in between other businesses and not well identified at street level. Even with GPS guidance, I missed the entrance, had to make a U-turn and come back to it. The landscaped grounds are attractive, but minimal, with one steeply sloped grassy patch. I had to walk my dog on a neighboring property that was fortunately closed for the weekend. If you're a pet parent, but not sure-footed, you could have difficulties here.

Hotel is only about 45 minutes from Red River Gorge which was our destination. Plenty of food options at this exit. Front desk person was very nice, room was clean and smelled surprisingly good for a pet friendly room. There was a little strip of grass next to the outdoor smoking shelter for our pup to do his business. Breakfast had a lot of options and the coffee was good.

Not at all the fault of the hotel but our next door neighbor was a nightmare. Literally slammed his door every 5 minutes, beat on our door in the middle of the night ( just going to assume that was an accident since I refused to open the door) and woke us up, allowed his dog to pee all over our car, and allowed his dog to bark all night. We ran the ac and a noise machine and could still hear it. Like I said, not the hotel's fault and it won't deter me from staying here again.

It is very cozy. The staff is very helpful. I don’t know anyone who could have helped me as much as they did. I had a flight at 6:00am and scheduled a Lyft ride at 4:00 am. They canceled the ride just 5 minutes prior. There were no taxis answering phones and Uber rides were unavailable. They helped me a lot and at the end the manager gave me a ride! I don’t know anyplace that could have done that. I was about to miss my flight and my daughter’s graduation. That is an experienceI will never forget! Thank you!

The managers keep the breakfast area and reception area very clean and do a very good job in separating breakfast items. They also have a good breakfast selection including 3-4 hot choices. Obviously an older motel but was in good shape and repair.

The A/C system runs a bit loud and blows pretty hard. And it has to cycle to keep the room temp down.

Convenient and first floor drive to front door room.

We were in bed early, and about 9:30, 6 Harley motorcycles roared in and parked in the spaces right in front of our room. They then stood outside and talked loudly for about 30 minutes. We knew it wasn’t that late, but just a bit annoying.

Breakfast was very good, room was clean and comfortable, sink was outside the bath and toilet room, always a plus.

We were towing a pop-up travel trailer about the length and width of our car. The parking lot had a sign at the entrance saying "Dead end, no semis". We were able to get in, turned around, and parked, but if the motel had been full, I don't know what we would have done. I didn't see anything about that issue on the website.

Breakfast offered was very nice, refrigerator was in good working order and it was nice to have one in the room, also microwave works great. Asked for extra towels and received them, staff was very friendly

Lampshade stained, curtains were stained at the top. carpet a little dirty.

This was my third time staying here. The room was very clean. Free breakfast is included and it is really good. They have a variety of foods and drinks available. We were visiting the horse park and this hotel is a little bit far away but we know it is nice so we keep coming back.

Property clean and well maintained. Lobby was welcoming. Checkin person very friendly. Room was pleasant and clean. Towels were soft. Large screen tv. Comfortable beds. Had everything we needed. Breakfast included a huge variety of food items. Something for everyone. The one thing about this property that stood out to me was the fact that they take the safety of your health and their employees (Covid) very seriously. Was very evident in the procedures in place. Kudos to the property management.

Very minimal. Maybe a little more attention to cleaning ie dusting the tops of headboards and lampshades, cleaning behind the bathroom door, and wiping front of microwave thoroughly.
