Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel

Loved the view over Hilo Bay, the balcony, the beds were so comfortable. Nice walking areas to parks. Good view of the sunrise

The pool was closed while I was there or I would have given a higher score.

We're really happy about the stay. Upon booking, the hotel informed us that they don't have AC and elevator, which is unusual these days at main land. As this is our last-minute booking, we decided to go ahead with it. As we first got there, it looks like a motel and pretty rundown from the outside. Actually as we walked into the room, we found it very spacious and the king size bed is so comfortable. We also have a bit view of the ocean. At night it cools down quite a bit. So if you have the balcony door open and fan on, it's pretty cool. The housekeeping ladies are doing a great job cleaning everyday. Overall, we are super happy about this booking and would recommend to our friends.

The short location-4mins to airport- was excellent after a long day of flying! Pleasant checkin staff, very friendly maintenance/pool man who even offered to take our luggage to the airport to save trips with our hire cars for our group of 10. Pool towels complimentary, laundry facilities for $2US per load. Cleaning staff very sweet and respectful. Walk down the street to restaurants to the left or 20mins to Hilo town to the right!

Room- #221 Great Size, King bed and a Double, kitchenette with dishes ñ silverware, dining table with extra chairs, electric skillet, laundry basket, hangers, towel set for 4 ppl, 2 oscillated standing fans, good size tv, dish tray with dish soap ñ sponge, hot water during showers . Views of Bay from a slider door but looking out window to next building however, blackout curtains hid that view.

Not be in Hilo during the Storm of Feb 2023. Roads flooded. Bad drivers. Too much visitors to our Island of Hawai’i!! Wifi had bad connection, Lack of TV channels.

The staff was very helpful. Even carried our bags to the third floor when we arrived late at night. The room was very clean and the location on the bay kept it very cool. We had to sleep with the covers on in August.........with no A/C! The location is great. Just a few minutes to some good snorkeling and a few minutes to downtown.

There was nothing that I didn't like about it. What a buy! I only wish they had a cooktop, but we made do with the microwave, electric frying pan, and fridge that was supplied.

ocean was right out of my window plus a convenient location. $100 less than fancy hotel down the street. so location view value and service. the owners came out and fixed my TV connection. He even apologized that the hotel is not in the tiptop shape he wants because he is in negotiations for a longer lease. it fits the price I paid. Clean kitchenette. New Coffeemaker, microwave refrigerator. Nice dishes glasses mugs. Walking distance to Historic park, entertainment and world class dining.

This hotel structure and layout is rustic and gives the impression of old Hawaii of the 60's- 70's. The location of this hotel was great and was within walking distance to a very nice park and a small beach. The room looks out to the great view of the bay, however the room assigned to us was a bit dated, and had carpeting that also appears a bit dated that could use deep cleaning. Some of the other rooms appears to have been recently renovated, so it may be some time before all the rooms will be renovated. But the mini-kitchen was complete with microwave, full size refrigerator, electric pan, dish/bowls, and complete cooking utensils. There's a laundry room on the ground floor and the laundry / dryer machines are very good.

There are no elevators to the upper floors, so if you have heavy luggage you'll need to carry them up the stairs. The pool is not heated so it can be cold since it can be very windy in the afternoon/evenings.

location was perfect for our function. the staff was super friendly and professional. The room and amenities was exactly what was on their website. Easy to use washer and dryer.

I don't think the stay was worth nearly two hundred dollars, and it is definitely not a "honeymoon" place. No elevators, AC, and outside party noise closing around midnight, the overnight stay was worth only 120.00 dollars.

Great location, tropical ambience, amazing ocean view (some rooms). We stayed in an ocean view studio for 4 nights. This is an old style small motel, next to 2 large scale modern hotels. While interiors are dated, it retained the tropical ambience of days gone by. Our studio had kitchenette with a microwave + a full size fridge (a big plus during Covid), and amazing view on the bay. There is no AC in rooms, but the breeze made up for it, we had window open for the nights. Special shut out to the security guard who helped us with our large suitcases to the 3rd floor, making sure "we were happy with our stay". THANK YOU.

Pretty location on the bay. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom, shower, and small kitchen were good. The nearby Liliʻuokalani Gardens are nice to visit.

A bit more noisy that I was expecting, hearing planes landing in the evening a the nearby airport and the Coqui frogs at night. With a microwave in every hotel room, inevitably the Wi-Fi, which is only offered on the 2.4 GHz band, was intermittent during the active times of the day due to interference.
