DOWNTOWN SLO INN - SAN LUIS OBISPO

We were just passing through and picked the least expensive lodgings in San Luis Obispo. We had low expectations but were more than pleasantly surprised. Friendly check inn, clean, freshly painted room, piping hot shower with great water pressure, coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The bed was well made and the cotton bedding almost luxurious. It was comfortable and cozy. The motel is just off the freeway but 5 blocks to Main Street with all its trendy shops and restaurants and also 1/2 from a highly rated breakfast/lunch place.

This motel was basic but very clean and comfortable, a good value for the money.

Jay was very welcoming and accommodating. He even switched my room to another room when I told him about the TV that wasn't working at the time with no further questions and didn't even throw a fuzz. I find it very common with all these front desk personnel out here in SLO at least. But Jay is genuine and very helpful as well. Although the hotel is decent and much better than budget Inn I still think it needs some upgrading with their furnitures and perhaps change the carpet or do some deep cleaning. It smelled like molds.

The carpet and the pungent smell of the room itself. The AC was loud and you can tell it needs some fixing. And it didn't help because I am a light sleeper.

The hotel is located close to the freeway exit and was easy to find. After checking in we headed to our room. We reserved the family suite and the room was very roomy and not cramped and was clean.

The air conditioning unit where the King size bed was located was not working very well and we could not lower the temperature settings below 74. The weather was hot the day we checked in and wanted to cool the room as it was very warm inside the room. The air conditioning unit where the twin and queen side beds was working well because it got much cooler than where the king-size bed was at. I think the ac units should be upgraded.

I was pleasantly surprised. For a room rated a 2, that was far too low a rating. The beds were wonderful. A real cotton quilt with a top sheet above & under the quilt, + the fitted sheet of course. They all were a very high thread count, at least 800 and so comfy. 4 queen size pillows per bedThe room came with a fridge, microwave, iron & ironing board, coffee maker & coffee. The towels were abundant, thick & thirsty also true cotton. There was shampoo and lotion & a BATHTUB! A very good air conditioning unit. The internet was extremely high speed. I ran a test on fast.com and it was 130 mps. I was blown away. It was the least expensive room in the area. Every room was full, but I never heard a sound thru my walls. I go to SLO for my job 3 times a month. I will return. I was so pleased I made a point of going into the office to thank them for the great room, I’ve never done that before.

Maybe a soda machine would have been useful. No swimming pool. I really don’t have much to complain about. There wasn’t a bath mat, so I put one of the towels on the floor. The bathtubs hardware was a little old and run down but it did what it’s supposed to. It filled the tub

Very quit. Was able to sleep well and get the rest I needd for work the next day. And the staff was very friendly.

I booked 3 times with them online and was forced to move from the first room I checked into. It was just a hassle for me to move my things from room to room early in the morning, Causing me to miss my bus ride to work. So I had to catch a later one. Causing me to be late for work.

The young man at check-in was professional and courteous. The entire area was clean. The room was nice and clean. The water in bathroom was great. The pressure was awesome.

The only thing I would improve upon is the comfort of bed. It was a little springy; however, it was a bed away from home. I may be a bit spoiled.

It was in a very good location for quick traveling. You make a right turn and your on 101 in lease than 150 feet. Need to get on 1? Two left turn and drive straight, your on one. It made site seeing very easy.

I didn’t care for the toilet being so close to the bathroom door. The snack machine needs filling.

The room was spacious, the staff was helpful and location was in walking distance for amenities as well easy to find. Well lit parking lot as, well as the lighting in pool area was nice ambience.

The bedding was a little outdated and building needed updates as far as painting on the outside. The owner or did mention though that slowly that are able to make improvements, which was understanding.

I like how the staff is accommodating and friendly. The staff takes the time to fold towels in a unique way to hold hygiene products. There is a location towards the back where you are able to enjoy the creek and some of nature. At night it's beautiful seeing the stars a little peaceful. The location is close to downtown San Luis Obispo as well as local amenities.

the staff was warm , friendly and very responsive . . the young man who ran the office and managed property was exceptional

the hot water was only barely warm . . they promptly sent a repair person but he did not fix the problem
