Construction was happening next property over (my stay was in August 2023), so waking up on Wednesday and Thursday morning to construction noise by 8am. Looks like construction will be going strong for another month or two. No AC, so windows needed to be open to cool room, which also means you can hear everyone (people at motel, people walking the street, cars driving by) around you. If you are sensitive to noise when you sleep, consider these situations. Ear plugs will help if you are a person who can sleep with them.

I travel a lot for business. So, I stay in a lot of hotels. Normally, I do not do reviews; unless my stay is extraordinary. So, this is the reason I am compelled to inform other business and/or leisure travelers about this ‘hidden gem’. I stayed in one of the Sand Castle Inn’s apartment suites (garden view) over the Holidays. And I HAVE to say it was one of the most pleasurable stays that I can remember. This is not just a nice hotel by the ocean; it is a mini-resort. I say this because of the exceptional, personalized service that the managers and the entire staff provide. It is the quietest place that I have ever stayed in. It is located in the beautiful, quaint, and laid-back southern California beach town of Imperial Beach. Located right across the street from the Pacific ocean. All you hear all day is the waves crashing on the beach. And their sound is loud enough, to reach the beach, across the street, past the front building, back into the garden area, and through the windows. And the grounds are VERY quiet. The rooms and kitchen were well-stocked with everything I needed; and then some. So, some thought went into supplying the rooms and kitchen with plenty of wares. And everything worked fine. Also, the cost is very reasonable. Especially due to the high-quality, resort-type accommodations, (VERY nice interior), and location. I can go on an on about positive things regarding this little gem; but you should experience it yourselves. I HIGHLY recommend staying here.

Very clean room. We had a Jr suite for 3 adults and I child. There was more than enough room. The beds were very comfy! The bathroom and main room are modern, well maintained and clean. We stayed on the 2nd floor and had a good view of the waves from Imperial Beach. It was across the street from the ocean with a quaint beach town feel. The front desk people were very friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend a stay here when in the area!

Parking is a bit of a challenge, nothing crazy, but the front desk people were very accommodating in showing us where to park.

The location is very good, short walk to the beach and places to eat. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms need updated somewhat, but they are clean. The bedding is clean. Some rooms have tables you can sit at for a meal, others don't, it would make having meals in the rooms more comfortable. The price is rather expensive for what they offer and they should not charge for parking as most people have to park in the alley next to the place. The staff seemed friendly.

Paying for parking in an alley (parking lot is very small). The rates are high for this place.

The Sandcastle Inn was a great surprise! Perfect location across from the main beach! Our room was beautiful and spacious! We were fortunate to be on the end and upstairs. Lots of windows- bright and cheery room with sitting area- like a suite. Very nice! We will be back!

We were there during a holiday and it was a little noisy next door- no fault of the hotel!

The proximity to the beach and the walk ability to shops, pier and restaurants.The rooms were clean. Grounds very clean.

The bed was terrible for my back. Could have used more towels (2 small towels and 1 wash rag ) for a 3 days stay.. No towels or rags in kitchen for dishes. The rooms got pretty hot since they only supply fans NO AC.

Awesome location, right across from the beach. neighborhood is mellow...super quiet at night and in the morning when you're sleeping in and waking to the sound of the waves. lots of restaurants within walking distance. staff was really nice and helpful. room was big and clean. Great value for what we got. beds were really comfortable. Nothing too fancy, very beachy, very affordable. definitely will stay again.

The bed and pillows were the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Beach right across the street. Everything in walking distance. And the maid who tracked down a fan for my room when I realized the room was missing the promised fan, amazing! The office had said I’d just have to do without. But God bless this sweet maid who tracked one down for me. Upon checkout she also found a necklace I left behind and came running out to my car to give it to me. I wish I knew her name. I got out of the car and gave her a big hug. She really took care of me while I was there.

The staff was super nice and check in/out was SUPER easy, the location was fantastic as well and although perhaps it's because we're used to Arizona heat but the lack of ac was surprisingly no issue at all!

My fault for not researching ahead but oof I really wish the beach wasn't contaminated! Also for the kitchenette I would like to have had more plastic utensils since the pans were all nonstick.

The location was fantastic. If you have children there is a nice playground across the street. Lots of restaurants and a brewery nearby. Beds were comfortable and water pressure nice.

The room does not have AC which isn’t terrible but when the fitness class starts at 6:30 AM and all the windows are open, not the best wake up call. Also our room’s fan light would randomly turn on. At one point it turned on 5 times in 30 mins. They are controlled by remotes so I don’t know if other rooms were messing with it but highly annoying at 1 in the morning.
