The Alnwick Lodge is a friendly and attractive place. The central courtyard is a relaxing and pleasant space, while the rooms are all quite quirky, as is to be expected on an older repurposed building, but they are clean, well decorated and very relaxing. The staff were friendly and approachable and couldn't do enough to help. The dining arrangements were enjoyable, with communal tables where you sit with other guests. This led to my partner and I having some interesting and pleasant conversations. Owing to my having to leave early on most days the staff were happy to put on an early breakfast for me, and while it was just a bowl of porridge (my request) it was quite honestly the best I have ever had. Overall I would highly recommend the Alnwick lodge. it is a good place to stay.

Really the only things i can think of are the wifi was a bit hit and miss and for me, having a bad hip some of the beds are a bit too soft. other than that, it was all good.

Dear Alnwick Lodge, and all who work and live there, We want to thank all of you for the incredible stay and accommodation we’ve had the pleasure of and encountering with in your beautiful Lodge, now known to us as thé perfect ‘Hagrids hut of Alnwick’! (as Harry Potter fans: pure loveliness, respect and fun intended). We, the Belgian family Sam, Lieselotte, Bess, Manou and spare Clarissa, want to express our gratitude to the Mastress of the house, who, without any ado or thinking, offered to be Road Runner with 5 tagalongs and their luggage, while they were desperately waiting for the minivan Taxi who was a no-show. With 2 minutes to spare, she became our heroine of the week, making sure we could hop on the train and swarm off to our next Harry Potter adventure in Oxford! We’ll be back in your Lodge as a pitstop ongoing towards the highly recommended Scotland and highlands by Mastress truly).. Kind regards, The Belgian Five (Sam, Lieselote, Bess, Manou and spare Clarissa)

Omg... You must stay here if your into Harry Potter. This place is quirky, out of this world. Mysterious, authentic, historical, dreamy. It felt like we stayed in Ron Weasley's home !!! The owners are just as Quirky. Great family. Everywhere we looked we found something strange. Who has a Chair on their roof? Traditional Gypsy Trailers to view. Breakfast was nice and they have a beautiful little gift shop. The beds are amazing .... Bring your kids !! 2miles away from the Castle and the the Old Town ...A MUST TO STAY AND APPRECIATE THUS SPECTACULAR LODGE ✨️

No biscuits on Tea tray on arrival. We stayed in The Granary... Watch your head

Loved the quirckyness, style and comfort of the rooms and guest lounge. Enjoyed that guests joined each other for breakfast on large tables. Ample and yummy breakfast.

Turning right out of the property to cross the very busy duel carrige way and joining the traffic on the road to Alnwick - traffic going 60+ mph. Me, a standing start in the middle of the carrigeways. A large pampas crass also obscures the view of traffic coming over a rise in the road. Best going with the flow of the traffic travelling left and finding a safer place to cross the duel carrigeway.

the area is so pretty and i love the history of the place you get to read in the welcome book. i love the personality in each of the rooms and the care and attention taken to make sure you're comfortable. the breakfast was amazing and so was the lounge area where we could sit and chat in the evening by a real fireplace. it was lovely and welcoming. the beds were comfortable and clean, and the bathroom had everything we needed.

the hairdryer was quite ancient and dusty, and the cups in our room needed to be cleaned before we used them. there was also some dust on the tables that we had to wipe away... but these are all small problems that we could easily overlook as the rest of the stay was amazing.

What a gem! It was positioned ideally for easy travel to interesting locations but, thanks to their clever tree planting, you couldn't really hear much from the nearby main road. Parking was easy. The bedrooms were beautiful, and there was seating to relax in the reception area and courtyard. They don't do evening meals but there was a folder in each room with great ideas for where to visit. Breakfast was great, and the fact there were several communal dining tables meant you could join one of the interesting conversations that were going on. I wished I'd booked for longer!

Some people might find it difficult that evening meals available, but it gave the impetus to explore the local area more.

so quirky and unique and the host was very helpful when we arrived! Tea and coffee in room and very comfortable stay! We had to leave extremely early due to commitments and we were offered the option of helping ourselves to continental breakfast before we left! nothing seemed like too much trouble!

If travelling at weekend and planning on heading out, make sure you book in advance! We had difficulty getting taxi and dinner booked in alnwick which we didn't anticipate! however the room had a comprehensive list of taxi numbers and places to eat for us to try which we managed to book from!

It's difficult to find enough complementary words to describe just how good this b and b is. The history, detailed on their own website, is in itself inspiring but that cannot convey just how warm and friendly the ambience of this totally and quite unique b and b actually is. Evelyn was kind enough to show us around several of the rooms before we left and we were amazed at the craftsmanship and obvious love involved in converting a ruin to today's outcome. Imagine eating breakfast (very good of course) in a converted stable or sleeping in a section of converted barn. We were also very impressed with the great quality shower, very comfortable beds and the peace and quiet provided in the well equipped rooms. And outside there is a lovely and well tended garden area to relax in. But if the weather was against you you could go inside and sit in comfort around an open fire with that welcoming aroma of burning wood which was alight 24/7 during our 3 night stay. It was a real pleasure to stay here so thank you Peter and Evelyn.

Occasionally disturbed by creaking floorboards from the room above, but of course that could happen in any hotel.

Breakfast was great (the mixed breakfast tables were far better than we thought), staff friendly, room clean and comfortable. Based on our stay very unsure why some reviews are so negative!

Nothing really, but too few towels for family of 4, we had our own, and I’m sure more would have been provided if we’d asked, so no issue! Getting out onto the road towards Alnwick can be “fun” when it’s busy 😃

The room and facilities were decorated beautifully and in keeping with its original building usage. Every little detail had been thought of. It had a lovely old fashioned, homely feel to it with a beautiful roaring fire in the main house sitting room and original stable features in the dining room. The tables are set out so that guests can talk to each other which makes a change from sitting in our own social groups. Bed was comfortable and the shower was a good size and very powerful. Breakfast was really lovely with lots of choices from cooked breakfast, fresh bread, cereals, fruit and yoghurt or Croissants, and the lady serving it was very sociable and just as lovely. No ask was too much.

The only minor issue was that we had to listen to the family upstairs peeing as their toilet was right above us but it's an old building so it's understandable.
