The restaurant was brialliant, was great to have such a nice bar, hotel and restaurant together. The night we were there, a wedding was on, our room was very close to main the event space and we could not hear a peep all night which was great. Our room was right on the edge of the stream and with the heavy rain previously the weather was water was flowing, once the windows was open this made the most amazing and relaxing sound.

The booking in/checking process is a little poor. You just kind of walk into the Bay Area and stand around until someone acknowledges you, there is a computer near the front door which appears to be where you book it, but you need to get the staffs attention to book it. Not a big deal but when we were trying to book out quickly the following day wasn't ideal

The dinner we had was very good - staff very helpful and particularly good in that we had someone with a nut allergy and they coped well with that. There was a problem in that they brought the wrong food for one child, but soon afterwards came with the correct dish. All food tasty and well cooked, though I would have liked more veg and less peri peri chicken personally.

We had no hot water in our room when we went to bed around 11. I went down to reception and it was dealt with and we had hot water around 15 minutes later - but I feel there should have been hot water already! Checking out was very slow as the assistant had a problem getting the bill for the man in front of me. The customer sort of apologised to me, but there was no acknowledgement at all from the assistant herself that I had been waiting so long, or any question at all from her as to whether everything had been OK in our stay.

1) parking was free 2) the main property (restaurant and exterior) are beautiful. Stunning riverside setting 3) reasonably priced 4) coeliac friendly restaurant (the servers went as far as to wear gloves when serving us, I really appreciated that) 5) you can easily walk from the restaurant to the local shops 6) quiet and serene location 7) immaculately clean bedding 8) a fan was supplied in the room 9) large tv in the room with Netflix and Amazon prime Thank you for a pleasant stay.

1) The carpets in the hall were stained, the bathroom taps, plug and tiles weren’t clean. Neither were the bed side tables. 2) the shower was basic, small and not very powerful. Plus it jumped from cold to scolding in a second. You couldn’t get the temperature right. 3) the lack of plugs were an issue. There were only 4 plugs (2 that were being used behind the tv and kettle and the other two were hidden right under the bed side table). We had to keep plugging and unplugging electrics, taking everything in turns.

Hospitality of the staff was above and beyond. My partner is vegetarian, and the American gentlemen who looked after us for breakfast, possibly the proprietor was exceptional. We got there late on night one as kitchen was closing, but they still took our order and fed us. Picana steak was beautiful. Fantasticly restored period building in a beautiful location. Shower was amazing, bed amazing. Coffee pods and water in room.

I've thought hard to find something just for constructive criticism in order for the owners to continue to improve, and I can't. So I guess the only thing I didn't like was leaving.

Lovely old mill incorporated into the bar area. Very quaint features due to age of property, uneven floors and low room thresholds. Tranquil weir in the rather lovely grounds. Ate in the restaurant which had a good range of dishes and prices. The salad was exceptional. All staff members were very welcoming and did their best to accommodate requests. Would stay there again.

My husband bashed his head 4 times going from bedroom to bathroom (room4) but you’d think he’d learn! Room was spacious floor very uneven and the TV sloped to one side. This is not a criticism, we had lovely views out to the weir and garden Room was very comfortable with lovely pillows although we did notice a bit of a left hand slant on the bed. Bathroom a little tired, but adequate.

Really lovely location and on guess Sunday to Thursday really quite and a wonderful place to be. Restaurant food was amazing. In such an idyllic setting with the pond and wildlife and at night the lighting over the bridge and water way was something else.

Room could do with upgrading and had stain on floor and super small TV. We were in the building over the water from the main building but Friday night they had an event and it was very very loud in that building net alone in the main building. Finished at midnight. Such a shame as its so nice and peaceful on Thursday night we woke up early just to watch the wildlife in the old water pond and the water fall etc.

Really enjoyed our stay at Egypt Mill. Lovely big room, all very comfortable and quiet. Food was excellent, with good choices for vegetarians (we had 2 breakfasts and dinner). We especially liked that breakfast runs all the way until 11am, so there's no rushing in the morning. It's clearly a popular venue but there was no trouble with noise at night. Great area for walking and exploring and relaxing with a glass of wine by the river. Good parking faciities. Tea & coffee & water provided in the room. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Good value for money.

No issues at all with our stay but others might find it useful to be aware that as this is a historic building, there are steps (not many, but some) which might be challenging for people with mobility issues. Also many business in Nailsworth seem to be shut on a Monday, so it was extra quiet.

This is the second time we have stayed and we really love the location and the friendliness of the staff and their helpful attitude. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is of a high standard and bar well stocked. The weather was exceptional which meant being able to use the outside space to its max. The gardens and views are wonderful and although there is a main road close by the bird life and quiet places are a joy. The river and pond make for a wonderful ambience. The old mill building we stayed in has been really well converted but if you like straight, level and modern with high ceilings this wont appeal. We would have no hesitation in returning again.

The free Wi-Fi password should have been either automatic or displayed in the room. We had to ask a member of staff for the detail. There was no hesitation on His part, however I dont think we should have to ask. We have o2 and it did not seem to be responding well, it may be due to the very thick walls on the buildings. This is not a moan, it is just an observation.

Fabulous setting with waterfall and stream. Staff saw me struggle with stairs down to bar to check in so altered our room to one with fewer steps. Gorgeous well appointed and spotless room with a king size bed, plenty of tea & coffee & clean, soft towels. Didn't eat as only there for a quick stopover while attending a local gig.

My partner found the bed too soft but it was fine for me so personal choice. Only concern, and I hadn't raised mobilty with the hotel beforehand, the room allocated still involved metal steps outside down to the room with a handrail on one side, which wouldn't have been accessible for many. There could be a more accessible room available though.

I stayed two different nights (one night apart) for a wedding. I paid for the economy room both times but got upgraded the first night as it was mid week. The premium room was absolutely stunning, wooden beams, views over the water, gorgeous.

The second stay I was on the very top floor of one of the separate buildings to the main and the light switch was right by the mains switch. Don’t think I’m the first person to have accidentally cut all power when checking in late and being confused and worried there was no reception at this time of night while I took 10 minutes in the dark to realize what I’d done! My fault but not obvious and if I’d realized I’d been upgraded the first time I would have paid the extra to keep the premium room as it was worth it. Was a lovely perk to upgrade for free but shout about the nice things you’ve done as I didn’t even know to thank for this and would also have paid more next time as I will if staying again in future :)
