Breakfast was included. The chef was very amenable and willing to change menu to meet our requirements. Cereals. fruit juice and Yogurts were available as a buffet. Everything else Chef prepared to order. Location was fantastic, so much to do, we took our grandchildren and they had a wonderful time. One of the highlights was dinner in a pod. Loads of car parking. Overall, hotel had a relaxed style and the staff were eager to ensure all our requirements were met. Very child friendly, (12 year old girl & 10 yr old boy).

Bathroom was perfectly clean but a little tired. End or August so approaching the end of the season. We were in a ground floor cottage and unfortunately above we had a group of young men staying to attend a wedding. They were not noisy and we wouldn't have known they were there except that a couple of them seemed to be wearing size 14 boots.

Both the room and ensuite were spacious and clean. The bed was really comfy and there were both flat and high pillows on the bed. We both prefer thin pillows and often have a hotel night's sleep ruined by massive firm pillows. Breakfast was very nice - we both had the English Breakfast, and the coffee was good. The surroundings are beautiful, right on the lake with lots of outdoor seating available to take advantage of the good weather we're having. We would stay here again.

Check-in was a little clunky - we spoke with two different staff members before a third was fetched who could actually check us in. It's possible this is because we booked at the last minute? Once we had the right person there though, it was very easily completed and the staff were all friendly. Similarly service at breakfast was a little chaotic. We received our breakfasts before the table next to us who had ordered earlier, but didn't receive our tea & coffee until we'd pretty much finished eating (and had to ask after it three times) despite two other tables who had come in after us receiving theirs. So overall - service wasn't terrible, but could have been smoother.

This place is an absolute Hidden Gem from location to the staff my family were blown away with the hospitality. During a trip from a Scotland family booked an Airbnb which was terrible we left place after 5 mins and booked into one of Rutgard Hotel cottage which from start to finish was perfection. Beautiful hotel by the lake food amazing lovely beer garden and lake walks will definitely be visiting this hotel again. Thanks again to all the staff for the hospitality and great food during our stay.

No negatives about this place it's a stunning English country side retreat

Charming helpful staff and really comfy cottage

Website could be a bit clearer Couldn’t work out beforehand if restaurant was open at night and didnt realise the cottage we booked had the bedrooms interlinking Ideal for small kiddies but for 3 adults not suitable to be walking through each others bedrooms Matter quickly sorted by lovely staff Shower a tad hot, not suitable for kids bet that’s not a common complaint Sure it will be sorted now reported Lovely stay .. we will definitely return

lovely surroundings and really friendly staff and atmosphere. The bar area was relaxing and served great food. Our room was clean and quiet. The staff were really helpful as we needed to book a taxi and they had numbers to hand. I also left my hair care routine things in the room after our stay and asked if I could have them posted back to me. They did so with no trouble whatsoever and even paid the postage for me after I offered to pay it which was above and beyond! The bed was comfortable and spotless. A lovely stay!

The shower box was a little small but it was understandable as the room is advertised as small double room so we knew it was going to be compact.

Theirs 3 pods outside did want to sit inside to eat or drink weather was a bit cold .. but we were told you have to book them 24 hours in advance .. would be lovely for a family lunch . But it wasn't really a issue shame we didnt realise before our stay ...

The staff were so friendly. There was a male staff member we didn’t get his name but he honestly could not do enough for us in the evening when we ordered our food. So attentive and polite too. The bedrooms were comfy and very roomy. We needed a travel cot and one was brought to us very quickly. The food was amazing and cocktails too. The breakfast menu was a very good selection for both adults and children. The building was spotless and gardens maintained to a high standard.

Friendly staff, recently refurbished room with view ( although small). Bar meals and breakfast were good but we had expected a much more up market restaurant. It was there mainly to serve local walkers/ visitors as there is only one other cafe nearby which closes at night. It suited our needs and was very cosy given it rained, but not something for a luxury or extra special occasion.

No lift so had to drag bags up multiple staircases. Would not suit less mobile people.

We stayed in room 2 Great decor, spacious, and a distant lake view. The food here is exceptional and the staff smiling and pleasant. I've since described this place and it's wonderful location as a little piece of heaven. Can't recommend it enough

Although the food was amazing, the Sunday carvery let it down. The place was staffed by youngsters and the service hit and miss. Must add, the meat was perfectly cooked, and the portions generous. Sadly, one of our deserts was raw in the middle. The two senior staff ignored us and sent a very pleasant, and very young man to deal with us. He comped the desert, but didn't really care. (I feel he was a trainee or weekend staff). Despite one odd experience in our week there, I can't praise the place enough.

Lovely staff, lovely location. Stayed for 1 night en route to Alton towers. Had a great meal and a drink the evening we arrived. It was a really good standard. The room was small (as advertised), but adequate, clean and great value for money. Breakfast came with the room rate, and was phenomenal. Really good standard full English, great coffee, lots of choice if you didn't want full English. Staff on both the evening shift, and the morning, went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location is really rather beautiful. We plan to visit again for a couple of days next time so we can explore the local area.

All good.
