Mill Lodge comes with a warm welcome second to none. Kelvin met us and he was so knowledgeable about the area, especially the best place to get food at the pub! The room was immaculate, clean, the bed extremely comfortable one of the best nights sleep we have had for a long time at a well needed get away. The tea, coffee , hot chocolate and welsh cakes were a lovely touch in the room, you can tell the hosts at Mill Lodge take pride in every aspect. I unfortunately overslept so missed breakfast, however my partner absolutely loved his and said it was the best breakfast he has he for a long time and he wouldn’t of got something that good anywhere else. If you are looking for a getaway with a fab local area, warm welcoming hosts and good quality of sleep this is the place for you. Cannot recommend them enough
loved it all

Everything was great. Mel and Kell have put a lot of thought into setting their house up in order to strike a balance between guest privacy and a personal touch. They have a natural attention to detail and customer experience, which is not always the case in the "lodging" world. Tea/coffee was offered to us by Kell on our arrival which was thoroughly welcome as the weather was inclement. It was good to sit and chat - Kell and Mel are full of interesting stories - in the surrounds of their beautiful kitchen and warm up. The home was spotless and our bedroom was just perfect. Well apportioned, with a lovely tea/coffee tray and smart TV with Netflix. Bathroom was also a good size and the shower was lovely - we had quite long showers to warm up and had no issues with pressure or temperature. Coming and going was easy as you use a fob to open the main door and your bedroom door is pin code operated. We had some issues opening ours and Mel was quick to help us out. We were helpfully given a few names of dinner venues good for fish - we went to one of these and had a lovely meal. Breakfast in the morning is served in a dedicated room with hanging prints and photographs (the host's own). As pescatarians we were happy to be offered a choice of two cooked breakfasts - one a vegetarian breakfast and the other poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, smoked salmon and caviar. Toast and good quality (I can't drink bad) coffee came first. The food was beautiful - one of the best plates of poached eggs and salmon I have ever eaten. Kell made time to chat to us and we went on our way happy, well rested, and well nourished in body and soul.

Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful hosts, who gave me some great pointers on walks and places to visit. The location was perfect for flat canal walks as well as the more challenging nearby mountains.
Not the fault of the B&B, but a little disappointed that the local chip shop and a couple of pubs were closed during the week, another one open but not serving food. The Beaufort was open and serving fairly basic but decent pub grub. Plenty of places if you want to hop in your car and drive in the evening, but I was hoping for a stroll on foot somewhere local.

Mill Lodge was the perfect place to stay during our trip to the Brecon Beacons. The location was convenient and located close enough to some very scenic walks. The facilities at Mill Lodge were exceptional - our room was comfy, clean and the sound of the water flowing outside our window was the perfect background noise. Mel and Kel were fantastic hosts, and our breakfast was incredible! Both of their knowledge of the local area was exceptional and Kel even drew us a map to help us on our waterfall walk! A perfect weekend.

The area was beautiful ❤️ views incredible and the owners went above and beyond to even drop us and pick us up from a wedding which was down the road. The breakfast was absolutely insane we had a full English made and it was devine and nothing was too much trouble. My husband spilt something on the carpet sadly ( I was not impressed) but kelvin was so kind about it but I'd be happy to pay for it to be cleaned as it was immaculate, comfy and cosy It would be a great base for beautiful walks or just to stop and breath and not do very much at all Thank you so much

This is a great place for an overnight stay (or longer!). The room was lovely and clean, with a good size television including Netflix. The little extras like a keypad on the bedroom door, welshcakes on the tea and coffee tray, and decent toiletries in the bathroom were very welcome. Very friendly hosts and a fantastic breakfast. The smoked salmon with poached eggs, asparagus and hollandaise sauce was absolutely delicious if you wanted something different to a standard cooked breakfast (which apparently was also very good!). P.S. One word of advice - if you'll be needing a taxi in this area make sure you book well in advance (we were very glad that we had, but even then it wasn't plain sailing)...

The location is amazing and has its own parking ( follow the reversing notes provided by the hosts ) .You sleep listening to the river flowing down below .Bed was really comfy , shower great with plenty of hot water . The hosts known as Mel and Kel are so friendly , the cooked breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble It’s quite clear that Kel loves the area and knows it very well so he was more than happy to draw maps advising good places to drive to for various walks ( waterfalls etc ) . Good local pub within walking distance for evening meal and towpath as well for walking . Lovely village . Ps : make sure you look at the wonderful photos Kel has taken whilst eating breakfast .
There was nothing we did not like but just to note that you can hear the guests in room next door. However this was not an issue at all for us due to the quiet time being respected by the guests .

We had a lovely welcome from our hosts on arrival. The surrounds and countryside are picturesque as is the air quality The breakfast prepared by Kel was one of the best we’ve had during our stay in the UK. Our hosts were excellent and we would highly recommend this B&B.
We were disappointed that our room was so small although please note that there are larger rooms available so we must have been unlucky. In our room you could hear our neighbours running their water, again maybe this was due to our small room? There was nowhere to sit and read or relax, the lounge was not available to guests and once again our room wasn’t big enough for a chair perhaps in the bigger rooms?

This very comfortable modern B&B in Gilwern is real value for money. It is tucked away in a suburban lane surrounded by character homes. Parking is on site. The house itself is very comfortable and well presented. Breakfast was cooked by the host and was delicious. Our room was very comfortable. We both slept well in our generous double bed. Good shower. Room was very clean and very well maintained and presented. We would stay here again.
Nothing to dislike here.

Our stay with Kel & Mel was fantastic - they were very welcoming and extremely nice! The room was very comfortable; there was coffee and tea and a TV with Netflix! :) The location is great for seeing the beauty of Wales. The hike our host recommended was very nice, and we even got a hand-drawn map which came in handy when we didn't have any cell phone reception while driving to the spot. And the breakfast was amazing! Hoping to come back real soon for another, this time longer, stay!
